I recently got to see "Maschinenblut" in two different theatres.
From the first scene throughout the entire movie I felt connected to the main characters in a good way, a bad way, and sometimes unexplainable.
"Maschinenblut" pulls you in and doesn't let you go, making you wanting to desperately enjoy the few glimpses of hope and relief within the scenes before your hopes are shattered once again.
Samuel Merold's portrayal might not be as present and shiny as Omar Eltokali's, but impacts just as much with his incredible subtleness and nuance.
Eltokali makes you root for his character and possibly hating him all the same at one point, but either way bringing a type of humanity into this movie's inhumane world that makes one hope for a happy ending all the more.
I can recommend this one to everyone who loves a good police flick.
No clichés, no dumb comedy. Just two main characters fighting against what feels like the entire world.
10/10.
