I enjoyed this movie. I has a lot of charm and made me laugh a decent number of times.
The title pretty much explains the premise of the movie. I felt that the trailer gave away to many of the best scenes, so if you can, watch it without watching the trailer.
The acting was good, and the actors/actress had good on screen chemistry, The movie was short but the premise suited a shorter run time so it didn't feel like a negative.
The story was decent. A bit cliched at times, but nothing too bad.
For a streaming movie, this is pretty good. If you have some time and are looking for a light hearted movie, this is a decent choice.

Well, I believed that I was in for a comedy here, as I sat down to watch the 2023 movie "Miguel Wants to Fight". Sure, I had never heard about the movie prior to watching it, so I only knew what I had read on IMDb about it. But hey, with it being a movie that I hadn't heard about nor watched, of course I opted to give the movie a chance.
And while I did manage to sit through the 75 minutes that the movie ran for, I must admit that the movie was sort of bland and rather devoid of anything funny. So writers Shea Serrano and Jason Concepcion sort of failed to deliver a proper comedy script for the movie. I have to say that the storyline sort of fell short of entertaining me, and it was sort of just a repetitive narrative that the writers came up with.
The acting performances in the movie were fair enough, and it certainly was a movie that had a diverse cast ensemble put together. I found that to be enjoyable, actually. I wasn't familiar with the actors and actresses on the cast list, which is something I tend to enjoy when I watch a movie, as there are no associations to previously portrayed characters in other movies.
"Miguel Wants to Fight" is a movie that came and went without leaving any kind of lasting impression. And I bet that by next week I will have entirely forgotten about it.
My rating of director Oz Rodriguez's 2023 movie "Miguel Wants to Fight" lands on a four out of ten stars.

I don't write reviews here very often, haven't done one for years, but figured I would for this since it's getting a low rating, obviously from haters that just don't get it. Maybe they just don't like heart in movies, so ignore the low rating, this is a fantastic film: feel good, sharp and intelligent. Highly recommend if you like these types of movies... 9 out of 10.
Aside from that, it has some very cool and fun fight scenes, with some hilarious takes on some iconic films, a tribute of sorts. Hint, the posters in Miguel's room pretty much set the stage for what you are about to experiences.

Hilarious coming of age tale! You could sense chemistry amongst Miguel (Tyler Dean Flores) and his friends. Dig the irony of Miguel's father being a Boxing Instructor. Only drag of the movie featured the Dennis Rodman attire/look of Miguel's best pal, David (Christian Vunipola). David overcame the Metrosexual look by simply being a Badass throughout. Thought the other two best friends (Cass & Srini) upstaged everybody.
Also featured a Hot Teacher in Mrs. Rodriguez (Dascha Polanco), and a School Bully (a la "Three O'clock High"). Suppose the only possible love interest was the Teacher...
Film was spread out well time-wise. Dude was literally racing time to be more like his friends, yet had to grow some balls to do so. Definitely worth a watch!
