As one of my former employments included close ties with politicians and officials, I have maintained some interests in their activities and ways of thinking, often universal, regardless of recent past of present (at least within the democratic world). As I became to like Danish Borgen and French Baron Noir, I chose to watch Les Hommes de l'ombre as well.
The story started working from the beginning and the events followed seemed logical and realistic, with pleasant performances (particularly Bruno Wolkowitch as Simon Kapita and Nathalie Baye as Anne Visage, but later many other followed). There were some intriguing twists, and the Series 1 ended in a pleasant non-US manner... :) The whole series includes lots of strong feelings, changing attitudes, and the core of politics where interests dominate over personal stuff which - apparently to those far from politics - are odd and perplexing to follow. On the other hand, it helps to clarify things one tends to read in the media, and understand some motives why-how a country is run as it is done.
Perhaps the Season 3 had more protractred scenes and questionable moments, but still, the whole series is a good watch to all those interested in corridors of power. As a voter, it is preferable to understand the mechanisms, even if no interest in party politics...
