Thanga Meengal, the only Tamil film among 25 feature films to be screened at the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India in Goa.
Thanga Meengal was also screened in the non-competitive section ("Children's World") at the 18th International Children's Film Festival India in Hyderabad from the 14th to 20th November 2013.
Director Ram's Thanga Meengal which was released in theaters on August 30, earned glowing reviews from critics but wasn't very prolific at the box-office.
The movie's official DVD has been made available across the state of Tamil Nadu from Oct 7th onwards. Coming after just 38 days of the theatrical release. Modern Cinemas released the movie's DVD priced at 75 Rupees.
Unable to sell the movie director Ram asked director Bala to release the trailer along with his PARADESI after which it grabbed the attention of distributor JSK Film Corporation
