The director struggled gaining access to a location for the Dean's office. It wasn't until he coincidentally visited Prince Edward Island at the same time as Jeremy Larter that they were able to book a school principal's office at no cost.
To keep costs low, the film was shot on a Canon 60D which belonged to the principle actor/associate producer Jeremy Larter. Remaining expenses went to sound gear (a shotgun microphone and 2 lavaliers) and car rentals.
Majority of the film was shot in Toronto's little Italy, the neighborhood Richie, Jeremy, and Allison lived in.
The title of the film "S.I.N. Theory", which is briefly seen in one of Dr. Leimann's papers, is an abbreviation for Social Insurance Number Theory. The "S.I.N." being Canada's version of the US' "S.S.N."
