10th Indian film festival Stuttgart has announced its selection. The festival will take place from July 17 to 21 in the German city of Stuttgart.

Hansal Mehta won the Best Director award for Shahid at the 13th New York Indian Film Festival which concluded on Saturday. Shahid is based on the life of slain human rights activist and lawyer Shahid Azmi.
Anumati by Gajendra Ahire was declared the Best Film. Vikram Gokhale won the Best Actor award for Anumati. The Marathi film revolves around a retired teacher’s attempt to save his dying wife.
Deepti Naval was declared the Best Actress for Listen Amaya while Suraj Negi won the Best Child Actor for Hansa.
Dr. Biju won the Best Screenplay for Color of Sky.
The Only Real Game by Mirra Bank was declared the Best Documentary while Khaana by Cary Sawhney won the Best Short film.

Chennai, April 25: As many as 10 Indian films, including those in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali, will be screened at the 14th Jeonju International Film Festival, starting in South Korea Thursday.
Nine films, including Tamil movies "Neerparavai" and "Azhagar Samiyin Kuthirai", three Hindi movies - Hansal Mehta's "Shahid", Ajay Bahl's "B.A. Pass" and Ashim Ahluwalia's "Miss Lovely", one Malayalam film "Color of Sky", directed by Bijukuma Damodaran and one Bengali film "Untitled" by Caesar Das, will feature in the Beyond Bollywood section of the fest.
Two other films also to be featured in the special category include Manipuri film "Leipaklei" by Aribam Syam Sharma and Indian documentary "When Hari Got Married", directed.

“There has been prejudice that Bollywood represents all of Indian films. Special : Beyond Bollywood is a special program that covers literally entire India. As India officially has 18 languages and 28 states, different styles of films have been made using various languages and sceneries according to specific cultural areas. This Indian program consists of 9 feature films directed by important contemporary directors representing each of the state’s beauty,” says Kang Minyoung, programmer of the festival.
Three Hindi films: Shahid by Hansal Mehta, B.A.Pass by Ajay Bahl and Miss Lovely by Ashim Ahluwalia will be screened at the festival.

The 13 New York Indian Film Festival will open with Feroze Abbas Khan’s political satire Dekh Tamasha Dekh and close with Nitin Kakkar’s Filmistaan. The festival will be held from April 30 – May 4, 2013.
This year the festival will screen 22 Indian features, all having their New York City premieres.
Khan’s 108 minute film Dekh Tamasha Dekh explores a country where bizarre is normal through a poor man in search for his religious identity. While Kakkar’s 117 minute film Filmistaan connects humans and cultures through cinema.
The festival will celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema with the screenings of Rudradeep Bhattacharjee’s The Human Factor, Jaideep Varma’s Baavra Mann, Kundan Shah’s Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, M S Sathyu’s Garam Hawa and Uday Shankar’s Kalpana. Whereas, Hansal Mehta’s Shahid will be presented under the Centrepiece section and Amit Gupta’s Jadoo under Special Screening.

The maiden edition of the Canada South Asian Film Festival (Saff) will be inaugurated by veteran Indian actress Jaya Bachchan on October 31st, 2012. Apart from screenings of feature, documentary and animation films, there will also be a Master Class from Buddhadeb Das Gupta.
The festival will run from 31st October to 4th November, 2012 in the British Columbia cities of Vancouver, Surrey and Abbotsford and will host films from the South Asian countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Afghanistan and India.
