The actor who portrays Aditi's friend and sometime crush: Avi (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and the actor who portrays Aditi's fiancé: Taran (Kunaal Roy Kapur) are brothers in real life.
Wanting his actors to build a natural rapport, director Ayaan Mukherjee made Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur drive from Chandigarh to the Manali location together instead of flying there separately. The straightforward plan sidetracked when Ranbir insisted that they detour in search of a restaurant hyped to serve the best butter chicken around. What had promised to be a 6-hour journey turned into about 14 hours instead!

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone portrayed a couple in this movie, it was a comeback movie for both of them together since they used to date before and hadn't done a movie together since.
