The film appears to be an unauthorized adaptation of the Ray Bradbury novel, as not only does the film change the names of the character (Mr. Dark becomes Mr. Black, Mr. Cougar becomes Mr. Puma, Will Holloway becomes Ben Hopewell, etc...) but changes the setting from Greentown, Illinois set during an unspecified time during the 20's, 30's or 40's to an English town with a then-contemporary modern setting.

"Children's Film Unit" project

This is one of Colin Finbow's films made as part of the "Children's Film Unit" project, and it's a quintessential Colin Finbow film. Those familiar with the genre and the director will recognize the film's style immediately and adjust their expectations accordingly. However, those who see Ray Bradbury's name in the credits might be a bit surprised, mainly because people mostly know Ray Bradbury for Fahrenheit 451. In reality, Ray Bradbury's career is filled with screenplays written for or adapted into films of this genre.

We could also say that this film is one of the most "naive" adaptations of Ray Bradbury and "Something Wicked This Way Comes"... For some reason, the film and TV world seem to consistently adapt this second book of the Green Town Trilogy.
