Just saw this film in an early screening in NYC. I really enjoyed the father/son relationship. Mickey knew he didn't have the experience that he could relate to his son but he resourcefully found someone who could identify personally. That is even better than trying to do it himself, in my opinion. The characters are really likeable - even the ones doing things that are wrong. The peek into the music business is pretty realistic too - especially the young people on their cel phones in the studio. The acting wasn't overdone - it was just right. Not a lot of names I knew, but I'm sure we will hear more from all of them in the future.

Refreshing to come across a good family movie that highlights battles we go through daily. Great balance of emotions- such as humor, happiness, sadness, relief, and more. Did a great job at teaching real life lessons, but in a way that can be easily received by viewers. If you are anything like me and you love romantic dramas, especially those that explore the complexities of love, trust, and the challenges that arise when these elements are put to the test- this movie is for you. Overall, it brings together a talented cast to deliver a narrative that is both emotionally charged and relatable, making it a compelling watch.

The relationship between the father and son felt so real and tender and it reminded me of the ups and downs of raising a boy into a man. The movie captures moments of vulnerability and strength that define any family. The performances were heartfelt and Trust In Love doesn't shy away from the tough parts of love.
What stood out to me the most was how the story emphasizes the importance of healing and communication within a family. It's a film that encourages reflection and offers comfort to those going through difficult times. I'd definitely recommend this movie to other families. It's a powerful reminder of the bonds that hold us together, even when life gets challenging.

Reminded me of The Replacements record Don't Tell a Soul-at times...funny, emotional, familiar, dark, loud, chaotic, thought provoking and hopeful. If it sounds like a lot for one movie, it kinda was. They probably had enough story for three movies so it's worth watching a few times. I understand the film is semi autobiographical which would explain why the filmmaker was compelled to say so much at once. While the story line seems a little busy, it also feels honest and real.
Before this, Tim Hazelip, who plays the main characters brother, had never acted before. No drama club, no commercials, he wasn't even an extra. Contrast that with Eric Roberts who has made well over 700 movies. You end up with a lot of texture and a likable, capable cast.
The shots are pretty, the production appears sharp but not slick.
It was as good as or better than 60% of the big budget Hollywood films I've seen so it gets 7 stars.

I saw this one in the theaters a couple of months ago and it was worth it. The audience was engaged and responded well to the emotions in the film. At times I felt like i was watching the movie with family and friends instead of moviegoing strangers. The cast appeared to have fun making this movie-it shows in the performances. The emotions at the end were a real tearjerker-you can tell someone really experienced this story. It's a heartfelt father and son movie that's perfect for families, especially those who might be going through something similar.
The visuals add a layer of depth that makes the emotional moments hit even harder. The pacing allowed the story to build naturally without feeling rushed. Jimi Petulla delivers a standout performance, bringing a raw and authentic energy to his role.
What really struck me was how relatable the film was. It's not just a story about love and trust-it's about the bonds that hold families together, even in tough times. Watching it felt almost therapeutic. This is a film that will stay with you long after the credits roll. Highly recommend it for a family movie night or anyone looking for a heartfelt, emotional journey.

This coming of age story just works for all the characters in the film. Mick Davis' gentle directing really brought out the best in everyone in this funny film sorta based on a true story.
I always find it amazing when someone writes a film they get to star in and it does well, and Petulla who plays Mickey and wrote the film, did a great job carrying the role. It's shot beautifully, has Steelheart's Miljenko Matijevic, a funny co-starring turn by Eric Roberts and a cameo from Robby Krieger of The Doors. We all need a little feel good these days and this one really comes from the heart.
Come for the funny, stay for the tag.

Way more laughs than I expected. Great story of a family struggling with real issues including a son coming out in high school. Eric Roberts is hilarious.
Lots of twists and turns and lots of memorable characters. Malibu life showcased as it is.
Inspiring ending with surprises of hope.
The dynamic between the mom and dad splitting up is way to close to home, but mistakes by both everywhere until some things happen to change the situation. The attorney interviews had me crying with laughter as I had that in a real life experience.
The surf dude is a superstar. Great casting with Jimi Petulla being a strong anchor to it all.
Loved the feeling I left the movie with.

This was one of the best films I've seen all year and I would watch it again. I laughed, I cried and loved the happy ending. Well written, great cast of lovable characters, and it sucked me right in. At the beginning, you can see a family imploding from the inside and it hooks you and you want to see what happens to them. The actors played believable parts and with very funny lines the movie kept me laughing. I can see why this little film has won so many awards. Knowing this was based on a true story, gave it and the characters real meaning. There aren't a lot of movies lately that I would recommend but this is one of them.

Amazing movie, I absolutely recommend you to watch it with your family and friends!
Thoughtful, contemporary, well made, inclusive, in a time where all the other movies at the theaters feel distant or empty or violent or repetitive, this film feels close and personal even if you don't go through the same process, it touches your soul and fills your heart with love and empathy, all the emotions are genuine and natural while the characters are real and close to home. It is a community film, a family film, a tumultuous story that will leave you happy and amazed by the love that will emanate from your heart.

We really love watching feel-good movies with the entire family. It's a rollercoaster of emotions that will make you happy, sad, and then happy again! Too many movies today are emotional junk food, lacking any real heart and soul. That's why it's important to fill yourself up with some good, healthy, heartwarming, loving stories that you can connect with in some way. There is something in this movie for everyone, which takes away any excuses not to watch *Trust in Love*. Be sure to get the family together and watch *Trust in Love* tonight. After watching it, hug your family and loved ones tight and be grateful for all your loved ones in your life.
Don't miss out; watch *Trust in Love* now!

Scottish director Mick Davis and writer Jimi Petulla (who also stars as our conflicted protagonist, Mickey) have a created a warm family drama that is funny/poignant and relevant. Beautfully shot in Malibu, the film looks at Mickey, a once successful record producer who is now struggling to keep his band successful with the record company. Meanwhile, when things couldn't get worse, his wife admits to an affair and wants a divorce. This creates angst for their two teenage children-Jennifer who succumds to peer pressure with drugs and Cody-a sensitive atrist who is wrestling with his sexual idenity and bullying at school. Yep, we've seen this type of drama in numerous films but Davis and Petulla give it a fresh and very personal/lived in feel. Petulla is writing about what he knows (he's a long time Malibu resident) and there is real believabitly/passion to the material. There's also a lot of great off-beat touches here. Malibu resident and first time actor Tim Hazelip as Mickey's "surfer dude" younger brother Bobby. His character never wears shoes (even when dressed up) and has great lines like "has anyone ever told you you've got a great body for surfing." He's a hoot and totally believable. Also The Doors guitarist and founder Robby Krieger shows up for a cool cameo at the beginning of the film and dependable indie cameo king Eric Roberts makes a funny appearance as a mystic type shrink who encorages his patients to connect with their inner animal all while enjoying the relaxtion of smoking cigars. The performances are all great and Petulla and Logan Arditty are especially affecting as father/son. Their scenes have real spark and compassion. This is a fine look at LA and a man who while being assailed from all directions (his career/wife/troubled kids) tries to hold it together in a world gone mad. It feels lived in/real-an all too rare beautifully done dramedy. The title theme song is awesome as well (deserving of an Oscar nod). This is one of the best films of the year and a real discovery on streaming.

I could relate to every character and every scene. A very current look at an American family in turmoil, you can't wait to see if they can pull it together. Filled with funny lines and quick deliveries, this movie kept me guessing. There were so many ups and downs, twists and turns I was enjoying the ride. Such a well written and directed film. It had me hoping the best for everyone. Creative editing and fantastic cinematography. The music was well placed and kept the tears of joy and sadness flowing with balance. I would definitely see it again. Hopefully there is a sequel so I can get more enjoyment in the future. Bravo.
Once in a while a movie comes out that really touches your heart and makes you fall in love again. Trust in Love is one of those movies. It is funny, interesting, exciting and overall a pleasure to watch. I would recommend this movie to anyone. Children as well as adults will enjoy watching this movie. It has a warm father son relationship, as well as some other real life family dramas. The movie was filmed in Malibu California by a very talented Director Producer I believe the movie is loosely
based on his life. I cannot think of anyone who would not enjoy watching this real life comedy.

Disguised between the fanciness of frills and distractions, we unearth a story of humanity shared between mother and children, father and son, siblings and friends, husband and wife. This is a story of relationships and how we navigate life amidst the chaos of misjudgment, irresponsibility, lapses of care, and the balancing act of pretending that the shining sun against a yellow Lamborghini will blind the world of the truth of this household. Through the heart, we pierce into LOVE and TRUST. We don't have good guys and bad guys here- just people trying to do the thing we call Life. Incredible.

Such a great story about a man and a woman who have been through hell and back. They're going through some very difficult times and try to make it all work out but does it? Will it all come together in the end?
There is so much other drama in the midst of it all but what will happen when these two adlts try their best to keep their family strong and together? You will have to watch to see but you need to watch it first, then you tell me!
I was very happy to be a part of such a remarkable film with such great people. The acting was phenomenal and many of these kidds have never acted a day in their lives! Really good cast and crew and a fantastic movie to support that. Congratulations to everyone involved for 500 awards it has recieved :-P.

"Trust in Love" is a poignant and heartwarming film that reminds us of the essential role that trust plays in forming, maintaining and nurturing relationships within a family structure.
The movie emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and second chances in the context of trust. The movie delves into the idea that trust is the foundation of any healthy relationship. Without trust, a relationship cannot thrive or grow. The rocky relationship between the parents and the complexity of growing teenagers living in a complex world while dad is juggling a struggling music career in a new administration of the entertainment business is a new learning curve for dad. What's more important his band or his family? Eric Roberts is great and Robby Krieger from The Doors was a pleasant surprise. The acting was great, shot mostly in Malibu Ca. The laughs are plentiful. Go watch it its a good one.

I laughed, I cried and I hugged my family after I watched this movie!!! This is a great film for any family. I love the father in the movie as he does everything and I mean everything to keep the family together. Very well cast and the actors who are most unknown do a A list job.
I also love how the father accepts that his son may be gay and helps him navigate this but we also see his struggles with dealing with this issue.
The music as well is great and the studio and lawyer scenes give me belly laughs. The band coming together at the end of the movie with the son was awesome. The title song Trust in Love is an anthem/\. In reminds me of Queen's "We are the Champions"
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS FILM.

A great film to enjoy with family and friends. Real problems develop for Mickey with his family and the solutions are sometimes funny as well as tragic. The production values are top notch. Real performances that are touching and feel right. The story moves along nicely and you can laugh and cry and become absorbed into the unfolding drama. The music score is from Jack Douglas who produced albums for Bob Dylan, John Lennon and Aerosmith. The location is Malibu and the coastal lifestyle on full display. The film looks gorgeous. Trust in Love is easy to watch there's never a dull moment and plenty of insight into human nature for a discussion after it ends.

"Trust in Love" is an incredibly important film, especially for families like mine. Watching the story of a young man coming out really resonated with me, as my daughter came not long ago. The emotions in this movie are real-it's like they captured the emotions we went through as a family. The film does a beautiful job of showing the complexities of love, acceptance, and understanding. The movie also sparked important conversations that other families can benefit from. We all felt connected to different parts of the story for different reasons. As a mother, I was touched to see the father's journey from confusion to unconditional support. It's a reminder that, as parents, the love for our children should always be stronger than our fears. I highly recommend this one.
Wow! Where to start?! "Trust in Love" is a Winner!
As a long time Malibu resident I loved the wonderful "Bu Vibe", and Locales! The story is heartfelt, poignant, and relatable! The screenplay was well crafted, and the Cast, and Production Value was/is "Spot On"!
It's so encouraging in an era of endless, mindless CGI sequels, and terrible "remakes" that bold, thoughtful films are still being produced!
I have screened "Trust in Love" several times for friends/associates, and the response is overwhelmingly positive!
Indie Film is alive, and well, and "Trust in Love" deserves every accolade it has received!
Bravo!!!
