Trey Parker cited EarthBound (1994), Paper Mario (2000), and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011) as his main inspirations behind the game's RPG mechanics. The decision to have a silent protagonist was drawn from "The Legend of Zelda" series.

Goofs
During the cutscene at the Community Center when Randy is examining the recording device, the PTA paraphernalia on Mr. Mackey's table disappears and then re-appears upon resumption of gameplay.

Crazy credits
In the bomb disarming mini-game, if you lose you see the entire town explode and a fake set of credits identical to the show's appear before re-spawning you.

Alternate versions
Scenes involving anal probing and abortions were censored in the Australian and EMFA versions of the game. Matt Stone and Trey Parker got around this by inserting an image of a crying koala and Michelangelo's David doing a facepalm, respectively, and a text inter-title "apologizing" for the censorship and describing what was happening in the scene while leaving the audio intact.

The definitive South Park experience

I'm not sure if I'm the only one that feels like South Park has been stretched way past its limit or maybe I'm just getting old, but I haven't seen a truly funny episode in a very long time. Along comes SOT and makes up for all that. It's hilarious, ballsy and shameless. Perhaps the greatest achievement is that it hardly ever feels like a video game and certainly doesn't look like one. The turn-based battles are a nice throwback to older rpg games while simultaneously feeling fresh and funny (especially when "Princess" Kenny is involved). If you're a South Park fan and have been watching since the start, you absolutely should not miss this experience. My only complaint is the short length. 8 hours is pretty much the extent of it, but besides that, big love to Trey and Matt for giving us the South Park game we deserve. It's about time.
