U.K. production, sales and distribution outfit Signature Entertainment said Tuesday that it will be acquiring Latin American production and distribution company Particular Crowd, saying the “strategic acquisition aims to solidify Signature’s position as a key player in the global entertainment landscape.”
Financial details weren’t disclosed.
Created as an international original movie label of Warner Bros. Particular Crowd’s recent successes include such releases as La Extorsión and Casi Muerta.

Production, sales and distribution banner Signature Entertainment is to acquire Latin American production and distribution outfit Particular Crowd.
Based in Los Angeles and Buenos Aires and originally set up as a label at Warner Bros. Discovery before being spun out as an independent company, Particular Crowd has achieved success in recent months with the releases of “La Extorsión” and “Casi Muerta.” Both films secured top positions at the box office for local titles and performed well on Max, where Particular Crowd’s movies are exclusively available locally under a volume deal the company has with Warner Bros. Discovery.
Upcoming Particular Crowd projects include Brazil’s “Evidências Do Amor,” which will be released theatrically this month by Warner Bros. and “Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires,” an original Warner Bros. Animation feature that places the DC superhero against the backdrop of Mexico’s history.

Pete Davidson Horror ‘The Home’ from ‘The Purge’ Director James DeMonaco Bought for U.K. (Exclusive)
Signature Entertainment has acquired the U.K. and Ireland rights to the Pete Davidson (“The King of Staten Island”) horror film ”The Home” from Miramax.
The feature was produced by Bill Block (“Halloween Kills”) and Sébastian K. Lemercier (“The First Purge”) and is directed by James DeMonaco (“The Purge” franchise) from a script co-written by DeMonaco and Adam Cantor. Last year Lionsgate bought the film for the U.S. after it screened for buyers outside of competition at the Toronto Film Festival.
“The Home” follows former foster child Max, who begins working at a retirement home, where he quickly discovers that its residents and caretakers are harboring sinister secrets.
The deal was negotiated between Signature chief commercial officer Elizabeth Williams and Miramax’s senior vice president of international production and distribution Yvette Zhuang.

After watching him play the fan-favorite Steve Harrington for years in the pop-culture phenomenon that goes by the name of Stranger Things, you probably didn’t imagine you’d see Joe Keery as a simpleton with a heavy Southern accent. But Keir O’Donnell’s debut feature, titled Marmalade, clearly proves that Keery wants to break out of that image. His very recent role in the fifth season of Fargo can testify to that as well. And if his performance in Marmalade is anything to go by, then it can be said that Keery is very much on the right track.
I generally take pride in figuring out the twist beforehand in many films, but Marmalade has managed to beat me in that game. Neither me nor FBI agent Otis saw it coming, and that’s where the film wins. Initially appearing to be a run-of-the-mill heist thriller along the lines of Bonnie and Clyde,...

Actor turned director Keir O’Donnell’s first feature behind the camera is a primary coloured effort with some smart plot twists
Although largely comic in tone, this frothy thriller is obviously modelled on classic films noir, with their tales of betrayal and cunning, gullible heroes tricked into crime by femmes fatales, and the ever-present backbeat of quiet economic desperation. But Keir O’Donnell, a character actor making his writing-directing debut, has juiced up the formula with a palette of poppy primary colours and bright stabs of pink, and an ironic, self-mocking tone. That should help this slip down easy with new-generation viewers who may never have seen such classics as The Postman Always Rings Twice or Double Indemnity, let alone later remakes or homages like Body Heat or Blue Velvet.
It also helps that O’Donnell has cast Gen-z-star-on-the-rise Joe Keery (Steve from Stranger Things) as protagonist Baron, a guileless poor...

Before “Rain on Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande and “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat and Sza became Grammy-winning female collabs, there was a combo of women that managed to snag a big win in the pop field: Christina Aguilera’s “Lady Marmalade” featuring Pink, Lil Kim, and Mýa. The star-studded collaboration, a cover of the number-one hit made famous by the group Labelle, solidified all four artists as pop mainstays, and made history at the Grammys as a diverse, all-female win.
The 2001 “Lady Marmalade” was released in April of that year as part of the soundtrack for “Moulin Rouge,” the Oscar-winning Baz Luhrmann film. The track was quite unusual, on paper. Pink, Lil Kim, Mýa, and Aguilera made very different music, ranging from pop to hip-hop to R&b. On top of that, the track was produced by the iconic Missy Elliott, giving it yet more star cred.

Camila Morrone’s emergence as a red carpet star experienced an interruption in 2023 with the SAG-AFTRA strike, but her evolution is back in full force with the 2024 awards season, as evidenced by the ethereal look the Daisy Jones & The Six co-star wore to the 29th Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, Jan 14.
“I had my eye on this look forever [and] was waiting for the perfect moment to wear it,” Morrone explains of her chosen red carpet ensemble. “I always opt for something timeless and classic and feminine, but also youthful. The beading and silhouette bring the right amount of detail and dimension. It feels delicate and sophisticated.”

"It's me and you against the whole wide world." Brainstorm Media along with Signature Ent. have revealed an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Marmalade, marking the feature directorial debut of actor Keir O'Donnell. It's set for a small theatrical + VOD launch in early February coming up in just a few weeks. The "edge-of-the-seat crime-tinged romance tale" film follows a man in prison who narrates the colorful tale of a romantic bank heist to his cunning cellmate, in order to plot an escape and reunite with the alluring love of his life. His cellmate Otis is a man with a well-versed history of prison breaks, and two try to help reunite Baron with her. Joe Keery stars as Baron, with Aldis Hodge as Otis, and Camila Morrone as Keery's lover Marmalade. This was filmed in & around Minnesota, including in Stillwater. This just makes me want to watch The Shawshank Redemption all over again.

What better way to enter 2024 than with Christina Aguilera leading a Las Vegas crowd in some self-affirmations to the beat of her song “Vanity?” “Damn, I look sexy. Damn, I look good,” the singer said. “There’s no shame in giving yourself a little extra love.”
Aguilera marked her return to Las Vegas after 2019’s 10-month The Xperience with a sexier, Burlesqueier, and more intimate show at the Venetian’s Voltaire Belle de Nuit, a newly opened venue, christened in November by Kylie Minogue.

Steve Harrington really turned it around on Stranger Things, starting off as a typical bully who served as an antagonist to the more sympathetic Jonathan Byers. As seasons went on, he – and his portrayer, Joe Keery – became a fan favorite, proving a vital member of the Hawkins gang and one heck of an ice cream scooper. And as Stranger Things approaches (albeit slowly due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes), surely Steve Harrington and Joe Keery will be missed. In the meantime, Keery is prepping for the conclusion.
Speaking with Women’s Wear Daily, Joe Keery admitted that Stranger Things’ series finale is inevitable but will be a difficult sendoff for him. “It does feel like it’s time. It won’t be easy for it to end. I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had...
