This film was very well written and directed. It has been a long time since I felt like I could hear the voice of the director through film. In fact, I actually saw the film twice. The first as a movie goer and the second as an artist and person. I enjoyed it both times, but I think I "got it" the second time around. Nothing had changed about the message. Nothing had changed about the characters and more especially nothing had changed about the vision and intent of the director. I realized that I saw it differently because the lens through which I watched was different. As a person and artist, I could see through a lens of unheard words, unseen talents, unfelt feelings and lastly overcome frustrations. As the scenes unfolded, I gained a deeper understanding of the value of evolution and growth through struggle. Through the imagery of a graphic novel and the depictions of characters as either heroes or villains, the director was able to reveal problems within our society and within ourselves while at the same time allowing the audience to grow with and relate to the main character. This film definitely speaks directly to those who may need to readjust their vision and offers the reassurance we all may need at times to trust our inner artist. Well done and truly inspirational!
