Suck it Up Buttercup

Some movies speak to the heart of an issue. Suck It Up Buttercup is one of those movies. I was lucky enough to attend it's premiere at the Bare Bones Film Festival in Muskogee Oklahoma last week, and at the premiere you could definitely feel the atmosphere of excitement in the air as the audience discovered this gem. Anyone who's dealt with a friend or family member who's been affected by addiction will recognize themselves in this film. It is truthful, compassionate, and unafraid of showing the warts and underbelly of a family who loves each other in a time of crisis. Bravo to the actors for their honest and brave portrayals of these characters and bravo to the writers and director, Malindi Fickle, who's work is so meticulous, well-crafted and brave. This movie is a gift to us all, in terms of starting a conversation about the affects of addiction on a family unit, and it's also a work of art. Thank you to the artists behind this wonderful film!
