Directed by Hamish Hamilton, What Had Happened Was will offer a deep dive into Foxx’s experience with his April 2023 medical emergency, while filming the Netflix action comedy Back in Action, that left him hospitalized and in recovery for several months. Although the exact cause was kept private, Foxx later shared that he faced “dire straits” and felt close to death during the ordeal, which began suddenly with intense symptoms.

Foxx revealed that he would address the situation in more depth earlier this year, while being honored by the African American Film Critics Association, but said he would do so “in a funny way.”

In April 2023, the Oscar and Grammy winner was sidelined by a sudden, serious medical complication and hospitalized in Atlanta. An official cause for the emergency has yet to be disclosed, though Foxx has alluded to the severity of his condition in the months since. Most recently, he revealed (via Art of Dialogue) that it started with a “bad headache,” but then he was “gone for 20 days” and woke up with no memory of what happened.

Earlier this year, while being honored by the African American Film Critics Association, Foxx revealed that he would finally tell the world what happened to him, but he planned to “do it in a funny way.

The accusations against Diddy aren’t looking to slow down anytime soon. The former music mogul, who’s currently battling charges of s-x trafficking and racketeering, has once again garnered scrutiny following Jamie Foxx’s recent comedy routine, in which the actor alleged the rapper’s involvement in his hospitalization last year.

This led to rumors running rampant about the cause of Foxx’s medical condition and the true state of his physical health.

Kyle Chandler has boarded HBO’s Lanterns and will star as Hal Jordan. The announcement comes hot on the heels of Aaron Pierre’s casting as John Stewart.

“The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland,” reads HBO’s synopsis.

Lanterns is based on the DC comic Green Lantern, with Chris Mundy, Emmy winner Damon Lindelof (Watchmen), and Eisner Award winner Tom King (Mister Miracle) writing the series. James Hawes is directing episodes one and two. Mundy, Lindelof, King, and Hawes are the executive producers.

HBO announced today that Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler have officially joined the cast of the upcoming DC series Lanterns. Aaron Pierre will play John Stewart and Kyle Chandler has been cast as Hal Jordan.

The anticipated series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Lanterns is an HBO series in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King will co-write the series based on the DC comic Green Lantern.

James Hawes directs the first two episodes. The series is executive produced by Mundy, Lindelof, King, and Hawes.

Aaron Pierre currently stars as the lead in Jeremy Saulnier’s Rebel Ridge, which debuted on Netflix on September 6th and was the #1 title worldwide on the streaming service for three weeks in a row.

Emmy winning actor Kyle Chandler is in talks to headline the “Lanterns” series at HBO.

In April 2023, the Oscar and Grammy winner was sidelined by a sudden, serious medical complication and hospitalized in Atlanta. No official cause has been disclosed, though Foxx has alluded to the severity of his condition in the months since. Most recently, Foxx revealed (via Art of Dialogue) that it started with a “bad headache,” but then he was “gone for 20 days” and woke up with no memory of what happened.

Earlier this year, while being honored by the African American Film Critics Association, Foxx revealed that he would finally tell the world what happened to him, but he planned to “do it in a funny way.”

It’s been rumoured for a while now, but it looks like a fifth Shrek film is officially in the works. It’s set for a Summer 2026 release date (the 25th anniversary of the original film) , with original cast members Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy all confirmed. Murphy himself, in the press lead-up to Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, revealed that some recording had already been done for the film and that his character, Donkey, is set for his own spinoff movie.
