Cameron Diaz’s return to the movies is something no one saw coming, but Jamie Foxx didn’t waste any time announcing it online back in 2022, just as filming was about to start. The hype is real among the audience, but one thing’s for sure — having her back means comedy is definitely on the way.

As it turns out, Foxx’s big reveal came with the leak of a conversation that puts none other than Tom Brady at the center of the story. Apparently, the NFL star was the one handling Diaz’s “prep” for her return. And honestly, who better to guide a comeback than the quarterback who retired, only to think about un-retiring shortly after?

Cameron Diaz is ending her decade-long acting hiatus with “Back in Action,” a Netflix two-hander she stars in alongside Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx. The streaming service released a teaser trailer for the action comedy.
Diaz and Foxx play former CIA agents who gave up that dangerous life when they started a family. But when their cover is blown, they’re pulled back into the world of espionage. And you know what? They still like it. “For the first time in a long time, I felt alive again. I felt like ‘the bitch’ again,” Diaz’s Emily tells Foxx’s Matt, intercut with a scene of them fighting assassins at a gas station, with Matt using a pump as a flamethrower and Emily jumping off the hood of an SUV for a takedown. The last time Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx shared the screen, they were playing the villainous Miss Hannigan and tech billionaire-turned-adoptee Will Stacks in 2014's Annie remake. That movie musical also happens to be the last time Diaz shared the screen with, well, anyone, as the Charlie's Angels star went on a decade-long acting sabbatical following the movie's release (the two events are presumably unrelated.) But now Diaz and Foxx are back back back in the very shrewdly titled Back In Action, which is not as it happens a remake of *that* Looney Tunes movie (sadly), but rather a buzzy, Netflix bound spy comedy from writer-director Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) and co-scribe Brendan O'Brien (Bad Neighbours). Check out the action-packed trailer below:
"Tonight something clicked," says Diaz' Emily to husband Matt (Foxx) at the start of this new trailer, "for the first time in a really long time I felt alive again.

"That's not why we're cool!" Netflix has revealed the teaser trailer for an action comedy thriller called Back in Action, yet another new "what if they were once spies" movie to skip on streaming next year. This is set for release in January 2025 from Netflix, which seems like they're dumping it. The production had many issues, including medical emergencies on set, Jamie Foxx's hospitalization, and more. Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt – starring Cameron Diaz & Jamie Foxx – are dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown. Isn't this the exact same plot as about 50 other movies? Diaz previously acted alongside Foxx in the 1999 sports drama Any Given Sunday and once again in 2014 in the remake of Annie. Ironically, Annie was the last film Diaz acted in before announcing her retirement in 2018... With a little help from NFL legend Tom Brady,...

When James Gunn became co-head of DC Studios with Peter Safran, some fans hoped that Henry Cavill would continue playing Superman in the new DC universe. However, that didn’t happen. Cavill later announced he wouldn’t be returning to the role. By then, Gunn had already planned a new Superman movie that would focus on a younger version of the character, which didn’t fit Cavill’s portrayal.
Fans are still debating whether James Gunn is to blame for Henry Cavill losing his role as Superman. David Corenswet has been cast as the new Superman, but before he was chosen, many actors, including Tom Brittney, auditioned for the part.
Tom Brittney is a British actor best known for playing Will Davenport in the TV series Grantchester, which he joined in 2017.

When James Gunn took over the reins of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, a portion of the fandom hoped that Henry Cavill would keep his Man of Steel role and continue in the newly rebooted Dcu.
This didn’t happen, however, as the actor soon revealed that he won’t be going forward with the role. At that point, Gunn already had plans for a new ‘Superman’ movie. This upcoming flick won’t be an origin story and will focus on a younger Superman, Cavill just didn’t fit the bill.
The fandom is still debating on whether Gunn is to blame for Cavill losing the role or not. David Corenswet is set to be the new cinematic Superman, but before he was selected, naturally plenty of actors were interested in the role and auditioned for it and one of them was Tom Brittney.

Netflix looks to keep up with the exciting rush of the fall movie season with its own packed slate of original movies starring some of the most talented stars of the screen. The streamer announced its fall movie calendar on Aug. 28.
While most of these movies had been on our radar for quite some time, including Joey King's sci-fi flick Uglies and Rachel Zegler's animated fantasy Spellbound, many of these movies finally received official word on their releases. It’s been a while since fans watched Cameron Diaz grace the big screen, and while she’s set to return for an action-filled movie, it seems like the timing isn’t in her favor. Her film with Jamie Foxx, Netflix’s Back in Action, was slated to premiere on November 15, 2024. Unfortunately, it has been pushed back to 2025.

Cameron Diaz’s Back In Action Delayed Following Jamie Foxx’s Health Problem
As per Netflix’s Tudum post, Cameron Diaz’s Back in Action will be available to stream on the platform on January 17, 2025. No reason was given as to why the premiere was pushed back for two more months.
