“Dear Santa” has been 15 years in the making for Bobby and Peter Farrelly.
During that time, the brothers parted ways for solo careers, with Peter Farrelly famously winning Best Picture for “Green Book.” Now, a decade after last working together on “Dumb and Dumber To” in 2014, the Farrelly Brothers are back together for a subversive new holiday film starring Jack Black.

The Farrelly Brothers are comedy legends. Sure, not all of their films are gold, but they’ve made some of the most iconic comedies ever. But they haven’t made a film together in a decade (their last was “Dumb and Dumber To”). Thankfully, that’s about to change with their upcoming film, “Dear Santa.”

It might be time to put some movie nights on the calendar to ensure you catch everything departing from Netflix this August before they’re gone for good.
Unfortunately, in order to make room for the new content hitting the platform this month, it’s time to say goodbye to some of the old. From “Dumb and Dumber To” to the original “Spider-Man,” the family favorites category is taking some tough losses.
The 2022 film that took home seven Oscars (including Best Picture), “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” is making its departure after five months on the streaming platform. Another award-winning film headed out the Netflix doors is “American Hustle.” Some other big upsets this month are “The Blind Side” and the original “Paddington.”

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels starred in the hit 1994 comedy film Dumb and Dumber. The main point of interest in the film was the pairing of a rising comic talent like Carrey and a serious character actor like Daniels. Carrey had already proven his mettle in comedy with back-to-back comedy hits Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and The Mask earlier in the same year.

On the other hand, Jeff Daniels was known for his dramatic performances in films like The Purple Rose of Cairo, Terms of Endearment, and Gettysburg. Starring in an outrageous comedy like Dumb and Dumber seemed like a wrong decision at the time and Daniels’ agent warned him from making that mistake. However, Carrey assured him that everything was going to be okay.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” (Warner Bros.), the year’s second-biggest grossing film so far (after the same studio’s “Dune: Part Two”). The $19.99 rental was an immediate #1 on both the iTunes (transaction counting) and Fandango (revenue) VOD charts.
The release comes 46 days after its theatrical opening, a fairly standard delay if not a bit longer. Meanwhile, “Godzilla Minus One” (Toho), the sleeper Japanese success and Oscar Visual Effects winner, has now passed the five-week mark since its domestic release with no home viewing options in sight.
The timing is tied to agreements between Legendary Films (the domestic “Godzilla” licensee) and the franchise’s Japanese owner to not directly compete with each other. As the Warners film advances in its home availability ($5.99 rentals and Max streaming still to come), it remains to be seen when Toho’s film will be permitted.

Netflix’s viewers keep proving their unpredictability as the streaming has more and more old failed flicks coming in the top 10 chart. Some positions have been quite a surprise, but this time the viewers are glued to the screen by giving more views to Jim Carrey’s 2014 big flop that was crushed by the critics back then.
According to FlixPatrol data, the movie somehow got it to Netflix’s top 10 in the US, to-date landing the sixth position. Dumb and Dumber To, starring Carrey and Jeff Daniels, came as a sequel to the 1994 buddy comedy Dumb and Dumber.
The original film follows two dumb, yet good-natured friends, Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, portrayed by Carrey and Daniels respectively, who embark on a cross-country trip from Rhode Island to Colorado in an attempt to return a suitcase full of money to its owner, though they have no clue that the suitcase...

Jeff Daniels feared 'Dumb and Dumber' would "end" his career. The 69-year-old actor played the hapless Harry opposite Jim Carrey as his pal Lloyd in the 1994 hit comedy, and he's told how he had reservations about the film's notorious toilet scene, in which his alter ego has digestive problems and ended up using a loo that didn't flush properly. He told USA Today newspaper: “It’s one thing to read the toilet scene, but then the day comes and we’re actually going to do the toilet scene.“I told Jim, ‘This is either the beginning of my career or the end of it.'” Jim, who is fearless, told me, ‘It’s going to be great. You’ve just got to go all the way with it.'”Jim's pep talk inspired his co-star to give his all with the scene. He said: “That was a couple hours of porcelain gymnastics.

Jeff Daniels is looking back at his time filming the infamous toilet scene in Dumb and Dumber and how he feared it would end his acting career.
The actor, known for several of his more dramatic roles, recently told USA Today that even his agents warned him about taking on the role of Harry, the “dumber” of two friends, alongside Jim Carrey’s Lloyd in the 1994 comedy.
“I had agents, who weren’t wrong, telling me, ‘You’re a serious actor. This is not the direction you need to be going. We’re going to stop this and get you off this movie,'” Daniels recalled. “But I wanted to shake it up with a comedy. And I wanted to work with Jim Carrey.”

Jeff Daniels Reveals He Almost Quit Show Business in 2014. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
If it weren’t for Jim Carrey, fans would never have witnessed Jeff Daniels outdoing himself as megalomaniacal Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker in the Netflix adaptation of “A Man in Full.” In a recent interview with Indiewire “Newsroom” star Jeff Daniels, he revealed he almost quit showbusiness before his friend and costar, Jim Carrey, talked him out of it.
Jeff Daniels starred opposite Carrey in the 1994 buddy comedy “Dumb and Dumber.” The movie followed Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Daniels), two affable, dim-witted pals from Rhode Island who often get into impossible situations leading to mayhem.
The duo have remained friends for decades and reprised their roles in 2014’s “Dumb and Dumber To.” In an interview with IndieWire, Jeff Daniels explained that after they finished filming the 2014 sequel, he told Carrey, “I’m done.”

Back when he was finishing “Dumb and Dumber To” in 2014, Jeff Daniels was ready to leave show business. “I’m done,” he told Jim Carrey. “You can’t stop man,” Carrey said. “You can’t, you’re creative, you’re going to create something, you’ve got to keep creating. That’s what we do!”
These days, Carrey’s off in Hawaii painting. And when Daniels is not acting, he’s writing songs and plays, which he mounts at his Michigan hometown’s Purple Rose Theatre Company. “It’s what keeps me going,” Daniels told me on Zoom. “It keeps me alive. Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton entering into a unique arrangement, J.Lo fighting evil artificial intelligence, the roasting of an NFL legend, a retelling of the invention of the Pop Tart, Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt at war and John Mulaney’s six-night live comedy event from Los Angeles are some of the big titles hitting Netflix in May.
Debuting on May 3 is Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, Unfrosted. The comedy legend works both sides of the camera for this humorous feature take on the birth of the Pop Tart. The movie is set in 1963 as breakfast cereal giants Kellogg’s and Post compete to become the first company to create a morning pastry. Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan and Amy Schumer also star, with Hugh Grant more than likely to steal the whole film with a turn as Tony the Tiger.

As summer approaches (for the Northern Hemisphere at least), Netflix is set to premiere a fresh season of one of its biggest hits.
Brigerton season 3 is set to arrive on May 16 and will debut a “new crop of debutantes” into the regency drama fray. Other original series of note this month include Indian drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (May 1), the Jeff Daniels-starring A Man in Full (May 2), and intriguing Korean title The 8 Show (May 17). Of course, Netflix is also rolling out a suite of true crime docs and docuseries as well. Chief among those options is Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal on May 15.
It’s the movie side of things where Netflix is feeling particularly lively though. May 3 sees the arrival of Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart comedy Unfrosted. That will be followed by rom-com Mother of the Bride (May 9) and the Jennifer Lopez-starring Atlas (May 24).

After a bit of a career detour to win a couple Oscars, filmmaker Peter Farrelly is back with his first full-fledged comedy in a decade: Ricky Stanicky, starring Zac Efron and John Cena.
Now available to stream on Prime Video, the Amazon comedy follows Dean (Efron) and two lifelong friends (Jermaine Fowler and Andrew Santino) who invent an imaginary pal named Ricky Stanicky to blame for their various hijinks. When their romantic partners finally want to meet him, the buddies hire a struggling actor known as “Rock Hard” Rod (Cena) to become Ricky.
Ricky Stanicky returns Farrelly to the ribald comedy genre, which he and brother Bobby Farrelly became synonymous with in the 1990s, thanks to hits like Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary. Their most recent co-directing effort was 2014’s sequel, Dumb and Dumber To. Peter Farrelly has stayed busy as a solo director, helming 2018’s Green Book,...

Dumb And Dumber’s Peter Farrelly’s latest film is Ricky Stanicky for Amazon Prime Video. Here’s the trailer and some details…
The Farrelly Brothers will forever be synonymous with slapstick, gross-out comedies like Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary, both of which are, gag for gag, among the funniest films of the 1990s.
Apart from belated sequel Dumb and Dumber To in 2014, the brothers have concentrated on solo projects. In recent years, Peter Farrelly has directed acclaimed 2018 film Green Book, while Bobby directed underrated 2023 comedy Champions.
Peter’s latest film is Ricky Stanicky, a comedy which sounds a bit like Drop Dead Fred or Ted. The synopsis reads as follows:

Peter Farrelly made his name in Hollywood by directing raunchy comedies such as "Dumb and Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary" alongside his brother, Bobby Farrelly. Since going solo, however, Peter Farrelly has been making more serious fare such as the Oscar-winning "Green Book." But now, he's back with an R-rated comedy in the form of "Ricky Stanicky." With an A-list cast and a ridiculous premise, it looks like a throwback in every conceivable way. Check out the trailer above for yourself.
Here, Farrelly is re-teaming with Zac Efron, who worked with him on "The Greatest Beer Run Ever." While Efron is coming off of the most serious performance of his career in "The Iron Claw," this sees him going back to his comedic roots, having previously starred in films like "Neighbors" and "Dirty Grandpa." Meanwhile, John Cena is getting to flex his comedic chops as well as the titular character.

“Barry” returns for its fourth and final season. After the shocking Season 3 finale which saw Barry (Billy Hader) getting arrested and Cousineau (Henry Winkler) being hailed as a hero, there will be plenty of consequences for both. The dark comedy premieres on April 16 with two episodes.
“A Black Lady Sketch Show” will also bring plenty of laughs when it returns for its fourth season. The sketch comedy series premieres April 14.
On the drama side, the limited series “Love and Death” premieres on April 27. It’s based on the true story of Candy (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pat Montgomery (Patrick Fugit) and Betty (Lily Rabe) and Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

With its list of new releases for April 2023, HBO Max is premiering the final episodes of two major shows.
First up is the continuation of Titans season 4 on April 13. Returning after a four month hiatus, these next six episodes will be the last go around for HBO Max’s gritty live-action DC series. Arriving three days later on HBO proper is the fourth and final season of Barry. Bill Hader and the rest of the Barry team wrote themselves into a fascinating corner with the conclusion of season 3. And judging by the first teasers for season 4, this final batch of episodes will indeed catch up with our favorite actor/hitman in prison.
Other TV shows of note this month include the Pete Davidson-starring animated series Fired on Mars on April 20 (light ’em up) the the Elizabeth Olsen-starring true crime story Love & Death on April 27.

While Peter Farrelly was off winning Oscars for “Green Book,” younger brother Bobby has been largely absent from feature directing. It’s been nearly a decade since the siblings shared credit — the last time being 2014’s “Dumb and Dumber To.” Now, rather than competing with Peter at the respectability game, Bobby sticks to what he knows with “Champions,” in which Woody Harrelson plays a minor-league basketball coach court-ordered to assist a Special Olympics team for 90 days — just long enough to take the team from bumbling incompetents to national finalists.
There are zero surprises in “Champions,” unless you count the not-inconsiderable shock that such a movie exists at all. A remake of 2018 Spanish box office sensation “Campeones,” this awkward (if presumably well-intentioned) comedy might have felt enlightened 25 years ago — back when “Forrest Gump” was an Oscar favorite — but today makes for a patronizing portrayal of people with intellectual disabilities. That’s...

"Bill & Ted Face the Music" was one of my favorite movies that I saw during lockdown. I saw many better films too, but there was something about the eternal optimism and good nature of William S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore Logan (Keanu Reeves) that made them feel like the kind of heroes we needed during a pandemic, one of the weirdest and most uncertain situations many of us have ever experienced.
Stuck at home for far longer than natural, it was comforting to hang out with old screen pals in lieu of our real-life friends. This may be why the era of Covid-19 also saw the unlikely phenomenon of people binge-watching old episodes of "Columbo." Perhaps there isn't too much difference between Bill and Ted and Peter Falk's shambling detective. The movies and the show are set in sunny California; the stakes are low; and the protagonists are unassuming,...

Prime Video has taken the global distribution rights to the latest film from Oscar-winning director Peter Farrelly. “Ricky Stanicky” will be the “Green Book” director’s first R-rated comedy since “Hall Pass” in early 2011; his brother and ’90s-era co-director Bobby Farrelly will not be involved. The picture will star Zac Efron, John Cena and Jermaine Fowler, and will begin production this month in Australia.
The picture concerns three friends who invent a fictional character to avoid unwanted situations but then must hire an actor to portray that fabricated friend when their respective significant others start to smell a rat. Producers include Paul Currie of Footloose Productions and Thorsten Schumacher of Rocket Science in association with John Jacobs of Smart Entertainment. The screenplay was penned by Farrelly, Brian Jarvis and Jim Freeman from an original spec script by Jeff Bushnell and Steve Oedekerk.

Director Bobby Farrelly is re-teaming with his old "Kingpin" star, Woody Harrelson, for "Champions," a new comedy about a guy who becomes the court-ordered coach for a team of basketball players with intellectual disabilities.
In addition to "Kingpin," Farrelly, as one-half of the Farrelly brothers, co-wrote and/or co-directed such films as "Dumb and Dumber," "There's Something About Mary," "Me, Myself & Irene," and "Shallow Hal." Since the sequel "Dumb and Dumber To" in 2014, he and his brother have embarked on separate directorial paths, with Peter Farrelly helming "Green Book" and, more recently, "The Greatest Beer Run Ever."
For his part, not counting various TV projects, Bobby Farrelly is making his solo directorial debut with "Champions." The movie is billed as a "hilarious and heartwarming story," and it's tough to know, just based on the two-minute trailer below, whether it has its heart in the right place and is meant...

Every movie star needs to play a gruff, fish-out-of-water coach in a heartwarming sports film at least once, and Woody Harrelson is getting that opportunity with “Champions,” a new comedy film from Bobby Farrelly. Focus Features debuted the official trailer for the upcoming film December 5.
In the film, “Cheers” and “True Detective” star Harrelson plays Marcus Aldridge, a temperamental minor-league basketball coach who gets fired from his position after a series of losses and winds up facing legal trouble after crashing into a police car. Ordered by the court to fulfill a community service requirement, he coaches a basketball team consisting of players with intellectual disabilities.
Initially apathetic about the assignment and unconvinced the group has any potential as a team, Marcus ends up motivated to whip the players into shape when he realizes that competing with them in the Special Olympics could be a step towards reclaiming his old job.

The directing duo known as Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) are two of the most exciting voices working in cinema today. After getting their start directing evocative music videos like "Turn Down For What" by DJ Snake and Lil Jon, the two have evolved their incomparable styles into some of the most compelling feature films in years.
Their first, "Swiss Army Man," was promoted as "the Daniel Radcliffe farting corpse movie," but turned out to be one of the most moving examinations of humanity and why life is worth living even when things feel absolutely hopeless. Their latest, the stunning "Everything Everywhere All At Once," is already a front-runner for Oscar contention, even with scenes including hotdog fingers and a martial arts fight scene with visible buttplug flares. It seems as if there's nothing too weird or too out of left field for Daniels, which is probably why funnyman...

Five years after founding Capstone, Christian Mercuri arrives in Toronto with a restructured company, a Gala world premiere and a promising slate of upcoming features.

One of their first films under the new structure is Catherine Hardwicke’s “Prisoner’s Daughter,” the story of a terminally ill convict (Brian Cox) who’s tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter (Kate Beckinsale). It’s official: Top Gun: Maverick is the breakout hit of the summer. Thirty-six years after the original Top Gun soared into theaters, Paramount Pictures has another jet-fueled, box office behemoth on its hands; the legacy sequel has become Paramount Pictures’ highest-grossing movie in the United States and Canada, surpassing Titanic. That makes Tom Cruise’s Maverick the new King of the World, we suppose.
Knowing Hollywood, they will learn the exact wrong lessons from Maverick’s success. Instead of realizing that audiences responded to dazzling practical effects and traditional, emotional storytelling executed at a high level with no need for the smirky, ironic detachment that has become en vogue, studio executives will likely zero in on the “legacy sequel with a big star” side of the equation. It’s pretty much inevitable.

After a 40-year career in Hollywood, comedy legend Jim Carrey is “fairly serious” about retiring soon.
While promoting “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” Carrey revealed to Access Hollywood that he is looking for a break.
“Well, I’m retiring,” Carrey said. “Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious.”
The “Ace Ventura” star added that there are certain stipulations: “It depends, if the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road,” Carrey said, “but I’m taking a break. I really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like, and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists — I have enough. I’ve done enough.

How serious is Carrey about leaving acting behind? “Fairly serious,” he said.

Jim Carrey shot to fame in the mid-1990s by starring in a series of box office hits that relied almost entirely on his rubber-faced antics, and at his peak, the actor was an absolute tornado of personality and charisma who had audiences eating out of the palm of his hand. However, at the turn of the 21st Century, it appeared as though he was making a conscious effort to shift into more dramatic territory.
Insiders and analysts were shocked that he never landed an Academy Award nomination for The Truman Show, especially after winning the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, while the following year he won again for Man on the Moon, this time in the Musical or Comedy category, before being lavished in even more praise later on in his career for his work in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Comedy sequels are arguably the most difficult type of follow-up to pull off, and the risk level increases the longer the gap since the first movie. Action and thriller franchises are almost expected to rehash the same plot and character beats over and over again, whereas a series designed entirely to generate laughs from the audience can’t exactly deliver the same joke a handful of times and expect it to remain fresh.
For every 22 Jump Street, Bill & Ted Face the Music or Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, there’s a Dumb and Dumber To, Zoolander 2 or Son of the Mask at the other end of the scale, and as the years pass, it becomes more and more difficult to justify the existence of a long-delayed sequel to an established comedy hit.
That hasn’t stopped Vince Vaughn from confirming that he’s held talks with co-star Owen Wilson...

Live from New York, it’s Jim Carrey and Maya Rudolph as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. “Saturday Night Live” published a brief teaser showing Carrey and Rudolph suiting up to portray the Democratic presidential nominee and his running mate on Thursday.
Carrey and Rudolph will appear in-character together on “Saturday Night Live” on October 3. Chris Rock is scheduled to host the episode, which will kick off the long-running NBC show’s Season 46 and will feature musical gust Megan Thee Stallion.
Rudolph previously portrayed Harris on “Saturday Night Live” and told IndieWire in August that the California senator’s selection as Biden’s running mate made her hopeful and energized her to follow the presidential election.
“It’s terribly exciting to feel like someone so incredibly worthy of the nomination has it, and someone who I admire and respect,” Rudolph said in the August interview.

1994’s The Mask was not just one of the biggest movies of that year, but it also helped launch Jim Carrey into the Hollywood big leagues. As you’d imagine, then, there were plans for more films at the time, but these ultimately stalled. There was a Carrey-less sequel called Son of the Mask in 2005, but no one needs to be reminded of that. All these years later, though, it looks like the Mask is coming back to the big screen. And it might not be just a one-off.

For most of his career following Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Jim Carrey tended to avoid making sequels to his hit movies, but that didn’t stop the studios from producing them anyway, even without his involvement. Based on how Son of the Mask, Evan Almighty and Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective turned out, however, his decision proved to be a very wise one.
That being said, the 58 year-old appears to have softened his stance in recent years after returning to the role of Lloyd Christmas two decades later in Dumb and Dumber To, while Sonic the Hedgehog’s post-credits scene seemed to make it clear that Carrey’s Robotnik would be coming back for the sequel. Not to mention that there’ve been whispers that another Ace Ventura outing is on the cards for the actor, too.

Things didn’t exactly get off to a flying start with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. When the initial trailer was released, fans were not happy at all with how Sega’s lead mascot looked. Especially his ‘human-like’ teeth it seemed. Personally, I wasn’t that bothered but the filmmakers were it seems, as Sonic got a quick makeover in time for its release and everyone was happy. But with all that going on, is the movie actually any good?
Fans of the games will definitely be pleased. Right from the opening scenes we see where Sonic grew up and we see him run. Most importantly, both of these things feel like they have been ripped straight out of the video game.

Can you believe it’s been 18 years since the last Austin Powers movie? Star Mike Myers is notorious for being selective with his roles, which makes sense considering he’s only starred in a few projects since Austin Powers in Goldmember and hasn’t kept a very high profile in recent years.
He’s popped up in a number of movies in supporting roles, true, but they’ve curiously always been as characters in heavy prosthetics. Whether it’s Inglorious Basterds, Bohemian Rhapsody or Terminal, you never quite know he’s in a film until the credits start rolling. Perhaps it’s a stipulation in his contract that he always be partially in disguise. Like it’s a gimmick or something?

Kal Penn, one half of the Harold & Kumar comedy franchise (John Cho being the other half), wants to make a fourth installment. The original, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, was released in 2004 and became a cult classic. This was the height of the DVD era, so it makes sense why it did so well. Just imagine all of the dorm rooms that had a copy of this movie.
That success spawned the 2008 sequel Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, which, you guessed it, revolves around the pair escaping from prison. A third movie, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas then came three years later at the height of the 3D craze. These films certainly know how to capitalize on trends, eh?

After the disappointing “Birds of Prey” opening last week, movie theaters and studios are hoping for better returns during the Valentine’s/Presidents’ Day weekend, which will see the DC Comics movie attempt a rebound against a varied slate of new releases led by the Paramount family film “Sonic the Hedgehog.”
“Sonic” will be the No. 1 film on this 4-day weekend as both Paramount and independent trackers are projecting an extended opening total in the low $40 million range. While that would be a decent start for this $95 million-budgeted CGI/live-action hybrid, Paramount is aiming much higher than decent, and the studio likely hopes for a theatrical run strong enough to merit a sequel.
“It was a really rough 2019 for Paramount, and that’s in good part because they just don’t have enough reliable franchises,” said Exhibitor Relations analyst Jeff Bock. “If ‘Sonic’ can become popular with families and overseas audiences,...

The iconic comedy chameleon returns to TV on Sunday, Feb. 9 with the second season premiere of Kidding, the tragicomic Showtime series in which he plays the grieving beloved children's TV host Jeff "Mr. Pickles" Piccirillo. And just a few days later, he makes his big-budget big screen return as the villainous Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog, his first wide-release film since 2014's Dumb and Dumber To. And in honor of such a big week, he's been making the rounds, delivering the sort of interviews that only Jim Carrey can. (Who will ever forget his 2017 interview with E! Jordan Belfort, the real-life con-man who was immortalized by Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street,” is suing the film’s producers for fraud and breach of contract. (Via Variety.) Belfort filed a lawsuit to the tune of $300 million in Los Angeles Superior Court against Riza Aziz’s Red Granite Pictures, claiming he was not aware the film was funded by money that was stolen from the Malaysian government.
Aziz is currently facing money-laundering charges related to the raiding of the massive investment fund 1Mdb which was set up by his step father, the disgraced former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak. He was arrested on corruption charges in Malaysia in July of last year.
Belfort claims that Red Granite’s embezzlement scandal has negatively affected the rights to his life story, and that he would have never agreed to the contract had he known where the money was coming from.

Whether it’s because of endless delays, fan demands, a director’s passion project or a cash grab reboot that seemingly no one ever actually wanted, Hollywood has produced an enormous amount of sequels to beloved films full decades after they originally hit theaters. Some of them have been wildly successful with critics and audiences, and others we’re just pretending never existed. Here are some of the sequels that took forever to hit the screen.
“Bad Boys For Life” (2020)
There had been talk for years about getting the boys back together, and the reunion finally happened this year, with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence teaming up for one last ride. This time however Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are taking over directing duties from Michael Bay.
George Miller took nearly 30 years to follow up “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” with the Tom Hardy-Charlize Theron thriller “Mad Max: Fury Road.

Sonic the Hedgehog has undergone a big transformation over the past five months, but one thing that seems to have consistently remained the same is Jim Carrey’s hilarious turn as Dr. “Eggman” Robotnik. When the first horrific trailer for this highly-anticipated movie hit the Internet, people couldn’t stop roasting it. The lone bright spot though appeared to be the comedian’s take on the cartoonish antagonist. And apparently, he maintains that same energy throughout the film and completely overshadows everyone else.
Wgtc recently spoke to someone who saw a test screening of the feature and they say that Carrey easily steals the show. They also went on to say that the beloved actor is finally back to his old form. This likely means that viewers can expect the same over-the-top, slapstick comedy that the 57-year-old has dazzled us with for decades.

Jim Carrey has no hard feelings about not getting an Oscar nomination for his performance in The Truman Show.
The Kidding star, 57, spoke to reporters on Friday while promoting his Showtime series at the Television Critics Association.
“I’ve never felt left out or passed over. These are words that other people create around me. I don’t live in that world,” Carrey said of not being nominated for an Oscar.
He continued, “All gifts are welcome. All recognition is appreciated, but none of it is needed. I’m so lucky creatively and personally. That’s not a need that I have.
