When the sapphire is first shown it looks like a solid clear glass crystal. Later at the lighthouse (at around 1hr) and the iron works (at around 1 hr 16 mins) it is unmistakably dark blue.

As Mickey and Sully begin to climb the ladder in the lighthouse, Mickey asks Sully "You scared of heights?" She immediately shakes her head no and Mickey says "Me too." If Mickey meant to say that he were not afraid of heights, he would have said "Me neither", so either his answer makes no sense or he is indicating that he is afraid of heights and believes she is too, but without any cause to doubt her.
