James Aubrey was set to play the main character David, and worked on the casting and coaching of other actors. However, he died before filming had begun.
At James Aubrey's funeral the directors met his French daughter Sarah Barzyk. During pick-up filming, she was cast in a cameo role as a tribute to her father.
The film was shot entirely on blue screen in a studio the filmmakers built themselves in a rural Lincolnshire barn.
Despite being a dark film for a mature audience, the film has a number of actors from well known children's television shows, including Malcolm Lord and Jane Tucker from Rainbow, and Sarah Jane Honeywell from Higgledy House.
The film has many Doctor Who connections through Colin Baker, Jane Tucker, Barnaby Edwards, and Ian Cullen.
