Rick and Morty Season 3 has been great so far. At first, I was weary, even though I loved it, but as I watched it a second time I realized it was just as good, if not better than the first season. I forget that Rick and Morty is a show that the more you watch the more you enjoy. And if there is one thing I truly love its weird musical versions of it.
A Youtuber named Chetreo has been making musical remixes for awhile, but as the new season of Rick and Morty has been airing, he's done one each week around the new episode. The first being "I Am Alive" which is the about post apocalyptic episode. It focuses on the Morty bot and his desire to live. It captures some of the funniest moments of the episode but in song form.

Kesha has found the light at the end of the tunnel, releasing her first song in nearly four years after a public, years-long battle in which she claimed her former producer Dr. Luke sexually and emotionally abused her. The video for the pop star’s deeply personal track, “Praying,” dropped on Thursday. It opens with Kesha’s spoken prose: Am I dead? Or is this one of those dreams? Those horrible dreams that seem like they last forever? If I am alive, why? If there is a God or whatever, something, somewhere, why have I been abandoned by everyone and everything I’ve ever.

This year's Oscars ceremony went off alright, but not without a hitch (or two).
During the In Memoriam section, a photo of Australian producer Jan Chapman (Love Serenade, Lantana, The Babadook) was shown next to the name of late costume designer Janet Patterson, with whom Chapman worked on several Jane Campion films including The Piano, Bright Star and Holy Smoke..
Patterson died in October last year. Her final film was Thomas Vinterberg's adaptation of Far From the Madding Crowd, starring Carey Mulligan and Matthias Schoenaerts..
.I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson," the still-very-much-breathing Chapman told Variety..
"I had urged her agency to check any photograph which might be used and understand that they were told that the Academy had it covered.

While the envelope rip heard ‘round the world was the Oscars’ most dramatic gaffe Sunday evening, it was not by any means the most heartbreaking one.

Meanwhile, Abigail continued to hide in the attic and Dario put Jj down for, among other things, his rape which again was referred to as consensual.
If these storylines were written seriously, any one of them could be powerful. Instead, important issues were treated as trivial plot points.
I'd like to start with the Stefano storyline in honor of the late Joseph Mascolo, who passed away on December 8.
Stefano's send-off could have been far better than what viewers got.
Mascolo was an important part of the show and it was hard to watch Chad and Andre talk about how their father was terminally ill while knowing the actor who played him had passed away the day before.

As if running a marathon wasn't hard enough. Karen Williams had just 2.5 miles left in the Valles Caldera Marathon on Sunday when she was attacked by a bear. Williams was coming up a small hill during the trail marathon, in the Valles Caldera Nature Preserve in New Mexico, when she saw a bear charging at her from about 15 feet away. "I raised my arms and yelled 'No!' then saw the cub," Williams recounts in the marathon's Facebook group. "Then I was on my a-- and being raked with claws and bitten." The bear ramped up her attack on Williams to defend her cub.

Looks like those early rumors claiming Watch Dogs would feature on May’s PlayStation Plus lineup were way off base, as Sony has officially listed the software headed to the Instant Game Collection next month and Ubisoft’s open-world hacking title is nowhere to be found.

To close out the Adult Swim Singles series (which brought us gems from Chromatics and Danny Brown), Run the Jewels have shared a fiery new song, "Rubble Kings Theme (Dynamite)," for the documentary Rubble Kings (streaming now on Netflix), which explores how the gang culture that ran New York City's streets from the late '60s into the '70s laid the groundwork for hip-hop's birth. There are no cat sounds to be heard here; instead, what you get is Killer Mike and El-p in typical take-no-prisoners form over a grizzly Little Shalimar–produced beat. "I am done asking and pleading and begging you recognize I am alive," El-p growls, in an especially fearless performance. Also featured on the doc's soundtrack are Bun B, Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire, and Ka, so it's probably worth a listen.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Former paparazzi Thomas Grady’s most recent picture is certainly worth a lot more. Thomas has inadvertently captured a scandalous, revealing shot of one of the world’s most prominent and beloved figures—the First Lady. What ensues is a terrific conflict of morals, love and money. Selling the picture could resolve all of his professional and financial troubles, but it will also force him to confront the love of his life, as this photo puts the true nature of their relationship to a test. Then there’s the President and First Lady; how far do you think they will go to protect their privacy?...

South Korean festival grows focus on alternative, experimental and “adventurous” cinema.
Held in a sunny Southern city with traditional houses and some of the hands-down most delicious food you’ll find in Korea, the Jeonju International Film Festival (Jiff) is celebrating its 16th edition with multiple sold out cinemas.
The fest has always been focused on supporting and promoting alternative, experimental and “adventurous” cinema. From its inception, Jiff put its money where its mouth is - producing a different triptych of digital films every year. Directors such as Jia Zhang-ke, Pedro Costa, Bong Joon Ho, Eric Khoo, Claire Denis and Bahman Ghobadi have participated.
Last year, Jiff went from producing three shorts annually to three features with an aim to help get them more festival play and theatrical releases.
“We wanted to heighten out rate of involvement and let the directors unfold their creativity as much as they wanted,” said Jiff programmer...

World of Tomorrow
Written and directed by Don Hertzfeldt
USA, 2015
“You are alive and living and the envy of all of the dead.”
There’s a big irony to this beautiful quote in Don Hertzfeldt’s animated short film World of Tomorrow. It’s delivered from Emily 3.0 to Emily Prime, a clone from the future to a toddler version of herself, who in Emily 3.0’s present is not truly living at all. What’s more, both Emilys are crude stick figure drawings.
World of Tomorrow is a beautiful, funny, surreal, cynical, and ultimately touching animated short about a little girl shown the distant future by a clone of her older self. Humans and clones now live together in the “outranet”, a neural network of thoughts and ideas that has replaced the Internet and provided all of existence with windows into the past. Those too shy to face society have disappeared...

I have consciousness. I am alive. I am...Lego? Next week we'll get to see Neill Blomkamp's latest sci-fi endeavor, Chappie, hit the big screen. Sharlto Copley voices an artificially intelligent robot who promises to be the source of a technological revolution. As he absorbs the world around him, he becomes more humanlike, for better or worse. While you won't be able to get your own robot like Chappie anytime soon, maybe you can try to make your own little Lego version of the robot like master builder Eric Tsai. He's a cute, small building brick recreation of the robot, even appearing to have eyes thanks to a small piece. Here's a few photos of the Lego version of Chappie from Eric Tsai (via Toybox): You can still watch the latest trailer for Chappie right here. Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more...

“I do believe the problem with artificial intelligence is that it’s way too unpredictable,” the mulleted Hugh Jackman says in the new UK trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi film “Chappie.” That line is a fine summation of the movie: a nerd inventor creates the first independently thinking and feeling robot, which is stolen by thugs, and then concerned technophobe authorities seek to have it destroyed using the hardware they borrowed from “RoboCop.” “I am consciousness, I am alive, I am Chappie,” the robot voiced by Blomkamp’s “District 9” and “Elysium” star Sharlto Copley says. Unfortunately, he’s not funny… yet. The filmmaker promised a sci-fi comedy —the inclusion of the wacky rap rave duo Die Antwoord in prominent roles was your first clue— but for some reason Sony’s been marketing this movie as a more serious, somber sci-fi film. Maybe that tests better with the kids?...

There are a few overlaps of scenes from the first Chappie trailer to the latest, including a bit where the title robot watches and mimics the cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. You’d think this was from the same studio putting together a new Masters of the Universe movie. Oh right, they’re both Sony. Synergy! Interestingly, Sony is also one of the studios behind last year’s RoboCop remake and they own the company that made Short Circuit (but not the rights to its planned remake), and those are two movies that are very much felt in this new feature from Neill Blomkamp. That’s not a complaint, because this looks much better than both of those things. Sure, the line “I am consciousness. I am alive. I am Chappie!” doesn’t have the same ring as the rhyming “Johnny Five is Alive!” but then Short Circuit doesn’t have Die Antwoord. Nor...

Two decades after one of the most polarizing trials in American history, our nation has generally settled on a consensus about the O.J. Simpson trial: 1) He probably did it, and, 2) The Lapd blew the case by mishandling forensic evidence. But as with other news events where objective truth has become buried under years of gossip and rumor, the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman have attracted a fair share of experts who are convinced they've figured out what really happened June 12, 1994. Perhaps that's a consequence of a cultural flashpoint where nobody on either side of the debate got any semblance of closure.
