The movie was partially shot in an old mine situated in Newtongrange, within Midlothian.
Redcon - 1 was also filmed on location at the disused Peterhead prison . The Victorian convict prison is infamous for a prisoner riot that was resolved by a covert SAS raid in 1987.
Some of the filming for the movie took place in two separate locations in Glasgow, Scotland - Washington Street and on the streets around the famous Barrowlands markets. And also in Ardeer, close to Stevenston
The feature film debut of triple amputee, Olivia Story. Her father, Michael, also has a small role in some scenes.
In the background of most scenes pictures of missing people were the actual pictures sent into the films casting staff, even the real names and phone numbers of the supporting artists were used on the posters.
