Producer, director and documentarian Eddie Schmidt has signed an overall deal with Universal Television Alternative Studio and Universal Television. Under the terms of the deal, Schmidt will produce both scripted and unscripted fare.

A celebrated documentary filmmaker, Schmidt most recently served as executive producer, showrunner, and episodic director of the Netflix series “Ugly Delicious” He is also the executive producer and director on “In Search Of” starring Zachary Quinto for History.

Producer, director and documentarian Eddie Schmidt (In Search Of) has signed an overall deal with Universal Television Alternative Studio and Universal Television for both unscripted and scripted fare, respectively.

The Oscar and Emmy-nominated filmmaker has produced six projects that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, including Netflix’s Chelsea Does, which he also directed, HBO’s Emmy-nominated Valentine Road, IFC’s This Film Is Not Yet Rated (which he co-wrote), HBO’s Oscar-nominated Twist of Faith, Morgan Neville’s Emmy-nominated music doc Troubadours for PBS and the prescient teenage tapestry Chain Camera.

On the TV side, Schmidt most recently served as executive producer/showrunner and episodic director of Netflix’s Ugly Delicious, with chef David Chang, and the new In Search Of, starring Zachary Quinto for History. Drama, drama, drama: Bravo Media has renewed “Flipping Out,” “Married to Medicine,” and “The Real Housewives of Orange County” (pictured above). It also set the premiere date for its second original scripted series, “Odd Mom Out,” which will debut on Monday, June 8.

Additionally, the cable channel set return dates for “Shahs of Sunset” (March 2), “Newlyweds: The First Year” (March 10), “Southern Charm” (March 9), and “Million Dollar Listing New York” (April 8), it revealed Thursday at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.

It’s all about the the original programming for Bravo this year as the network unveiled its largest slate of original programming-to-date with 17 new and 18 returning unscripted series, and three new scripted projects in development.

“Bravo’s ongoing investment in high-quality original content across every platform continues to drive our growth year-over-year, securing our top 10 network ranking,” said Frances Berwick, President of Bravo and Style Media. “Bravo’s signature lifestyle entertainment brand continues to engage our growing passionate ‘affluencer’ audience.”

One compelling reality standout is Newlyweds: The First Year (Monday, May 6), which follows four newly married couples for an entire year.

With their upfronts happening tonight, Bravo announced that it has greenlit 11 new unscripted series, including spin-offs for Top Chef and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, as well as season orders for eight of their returning favorites. Viewers can expect to see another season of Flipping Out, Tabatha Takes Over, Million Dollar Decorators, Million Dollar Listing Lost Angeles, Top Chef Masters, Chef Roble & Co., Pregnant in Heels, and Inside the Actors Studio.

Eleven new shows, including a spinoff for "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Lisa Vanderpump and a new "Top Chef" series with Jen Carroll, Richard Blais, Fabio Viviani and Spike Mendelsohn, are heading to Bravo. The network has also renewed eight shows, including "Tabatha Takes Over."

"Sur" goes inside "Housewives" star Vanderpump's La hotspot restaurant. "Life After Top Chef" follows the personal and professional lives of the four former "Top Chef" cheftestants. There are also new shows set on yachts, in the offices of icanhascheezburger.com and in art galleries and the network also announced seven new unscripted projects in development.

Two scripted shows are in the works at Bravo, but the subject matter is familiar to the established audience.
