- Two Punjabi brothers are stuck in lives they want to escape. Jaspal dreams of a woman out of his reach, Vicky dreams of emigrating to Canada. Both are trapped by Sanjay, Chandigarh's Police Chief.
- Jaspal and Vicky move from their poor village to Chandigarh, the capital city of the state of Punjab, after the death of their peasant parents. Unable to find jobs, they handle side jobs for Sanjay, a corrupt police chief who runs and oversees a few illegal activities. On Sanjay's orders they kill the partner of his rival Raja, a local drug lord who is in a turf war with Sanjay.
Meanwhile, Jaspal and Vicky strive for another life. Vicky wants to migrate to Canada and tries to convince Jaspal to follow him. Jaspal doesn't care and only wants to settle with Sonia, the woman he can't stop loving.
Sonia comes from a different social class and has ambiguous feelings for Jaspal. Initially attracted by his rough style and the protection he offers, she does not see herself spending her life with him. She is only interested in emancipating herself from her family's control. Misreading Sonia's feelings, Jaspal desperately tries to win her over by copying the ways of local wealthy boys like Sonia's friend Harpreet.
After Vicky and Jaspal execute yet another contract killing, Sanjay invites the brothers to his country villa where he is staying with his mistress Radha, a starlet entering politics.In a quarrel, Sanjay accidentally kills Radha. Undesired witnesses, the brothers flee the scene. To cover up his actions, Sanjay accuses them of the murder and sends the police after the missing boys.Determined to find them, Sanjay sends Raja to kill them in exchange for a share of Chandigarh's drug market.
Jaspal and Vicky are trapped between a rock and a hard place. They must run for their lives when doing so could mean abandoning both their dreams. Is living truly worth giving up on love and a better life?
