As soon as I see that ethereal white horse galloping across the screen, I immediately think "great, another glorious Maverick Entertainment movie."
While I have indeed watched the 2021 movie "Ebony Hustle" and not liking it one bit, I still opted to check out the 2024 sequel titled "Ebony Hustle 2: Ballistic Protection" simply because I had the opportunity to do so and never had seen the movie. Sure, I harbored absolutely zero expectations to director John Wayne S. III, given how much I wasn't entertained by the first movie.
The movie was certainly not off to a good start with that cringeworthy music that played during the intro segment. I absolutely loathe rap and hip hop, so that music didn't sit well with me.
The storyline in "Ebony Hustle 2: Ballistic Protection", as written by Nia Kishaye and John Wayne S. III, was slightly better than the rubbish presented in the first movie. But this was by no means something that proved extraordinarily entertaining. And I quickly lost interest in the monotonous storyline and narrative, and ended up playing game on my phone, while the movie continued on as mere background noise.
The only face on the screen I was familiar with was leading actress Michelle l Lamb, and that was only because I had suffered through the 2021 "Ebony Hustle" movie. The acting performances were somewhat okay, but I wasn't particularly impressed with what I witnessed.
This is definitely not a movie that you will find me recommending to anyone.
My rating of "Ebony Hustle 2: Ballistic Protection" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
