It's unfortunate the low ratings are coming from people who "only watched 2 episodes" . It is in fact a slow burn, but if you stick around you won't be sorry. Yes, there is a lot going at once, but it all comes together in the end.. tears were shed several times.
The talent alone is impressive! From Dennis Leary, to freaking ALICE (Linda Lavin), there are some serious name drops here!
And a note fo those that take issue with 1 lesbian couple, and more ethnicities than white on the show... Welcome to how life really is.. this was absolutely not overkill, and those that thought it was need to take a hard look inward and ask why.

6.8 in rating, why!? I would give 8.5 if possible. I binged it over like a 24 hour time period. Ok at times a bit cheesy, but I just really like the casting and the acting, it feels warm and sincere, and the murder mystery is interesting enough with a small twist, without everything beeing all sad and miserable. The story is light and entertaining but has a certain amount of darkness due to the main story line. Like a nice but not too expesive piece of dark chockolate, covered in strawberry glaze. Give it a shot and you won't be disappointed. Don't expect a crime drama or true realism. This is an endearing comedy with a dark undernote.

I always tend to get a little nervous when such big names are involved in a limited Netflix series. But it felt like this cast really delivered and hit all the marks. Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow have a certain chemistry that was perfect for this story. I'm always happy to see Linda Cardellini in a role like this as well.
Great pacing, adequate suspense, lots of comedic relief. For once, I didn't expect the twist ending and each storyline felt resolved by the last episode. I really enjoyed it!
Would absolutely recommend if you're looking for a palette cleanser in this new fast-paced streaming world.

A very slow burn however my review is not based on that alone, but overall it being not a great or bad series.
You also just didn't seem to care for any character, despite some things they were dealing with.
At moments it felt like it was trying to be a comedy(or dry comedy)about home selling, than it switches into something else.
The series was clichéd & there wasn't misunderstood parts, due to plotholes that leaves you feeling dissatisfied.
It was cast ok but maybe it was the script or director, which didn't bring a stronger story to the screen in spots.
The twist within a twist during, the last few episodes was actually good.
Not a series that would watch again, but ok enough to view once.

There is a house for sale in L. A. The Morgans (Lisa Kudrow, Ray Romano) are holding an open house with various people coming for a look. Later, Mikey (Denis Leary) is recently released from prison and blackmails the couple for $80k.
This is a Liz Feldman series. Like "Dead to me", this is a cauldron of characters in an upper middle class neighborhood doing chaotic things with crimes and more chaos. As a limited series, the chaos is more limited. I think that helps. There is her style of constant turns and shock reveals. Maybe the show should center more on Abbi Jacobson so she could be doing all the mystery solving. That would make this more a murder mystery show. This has plenty of top level talents and everybody is doing good work. Despite some minor hiccups, this is a good compelling show.

Cast was really good, the story was really good. It truly was a slow burn, which I don't mind. However, execution was not great. For some reason, I hated every single character. They never grew to become lovable, as I originally expected. However, plot twists were there, which I appreciate. Even though it was very slow at times, it continued to through several twists which made the story overall more entertaining. A lot of the side stories were not needed, like a lot of the brother's story. His kid, him missing, all of that appeared to have some huge connotation which never truly landed. Bottom line: good story, good cast, not the best execution.

Maybe is not a perfect 10 but I've just binged it in one go....till 2am so that's my review in itself🙃
Lots of twists and turns, you guessing to the end...
Short episodes and like many other times on Netflix next episode swiftly starting in few seconds so I just could not turned it off till was over. Thomorrow will be rough wake up due to lack of sleep but it was worth it!
Watch yourself and enjoy, not the best maybe but very cleverly done! I did like it a lot.
Lisa still reminded me Phoebe from Friends like in every other movie but to be honest she was also quite watchable. Well done Netfli!

As Episode 1 of "No Good Deed" (2024 release; 8 episodes ranging from 30 to 39 min) opens, several couples are visiting an Open House of a Hollywood Spanish mansion that has gone on the market. We get to know Paul and Lydia, the owners of the house, and we are left wondering why they are selling this beauty. At this point we are 10 minutes into Episode 1.
Couple of comments: this is the latest from creator Liz Feldman ("Dead To Me'). Here she digs into the psyches of several couples, 3 of which who want to buy the house, and the sellers couple. The mini-series is plot heavy so the less said about that, the better. I will say that it took a couple of episodes to really get into this, so if you think it starts off a little slow, you are right but hang in there!. Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow are excellent as Paul and Lydia, but it's really al all-star cast (Luke Wilson, Denis Leary, Poppy Liu, Lina Cardellini, etc.). These are all short episodes, perfect for binge-watching. I saw the entire series over 2 evening, and was said to have the series come to an end.
"No Good Deed" started streaming on Neflix about a week ago. I watched this a few days ago. The series is currently rated 79% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and for good reason. If you are in the mood for a dark comedy, or are simply a fan of any of the all-star cast, I'd readily suggest you check this out, and draw your own conclusion.

I was hesitant but hopeful when I saw the casting, and I'm happy to say they exceeded all expectations. The pacing is just right, striking a balance that fits perfectly with a drama/thriller-lite genre. The story is both deep and engaging, and I never once felt like I was being strung along. The characters are cleverly crafted modern caricatures of the upper class in the area, and their portrayal becomes increasingly humorous as the story unfolds. The dialogue feels natural and helps bring the characters to life. The visuals are simple but effective, adding to the overall feel of the story without trying too hard.

If you liked Dead To Me; you will like this one too. It even has one of the actress in this series too. Similar plot, acting and humor style. I am in episode 4 and so far I like Dead to Me better.
No good deed has Ray Romano whom I loved in everybody loves Raymond. I don't know if it's the script, or what, but it seems he has lost some of his luster from the days of everybody loves Raymond. Still he is very enjoyable.
The characters are diverse, reflecting different side of society and the plot is creative and amusing and at some point one relates to any of the situations that occurs in the series.

I was surprised to see the show rated as low as it is, but it made more sense after seeing a lot of the reviews explain how they didn't get past the first episode. The show is a mystery romp slow burn that may not be for everyone. I personally found it be to funny and entertaining with a tone particular to Liz Feldman that I enjoy. I really love the cast, and everyone's performance. I wasn't sold on Ray Romano at first because of my own biases (a lifetime of not being able to separate him from Every Loves Raymond) but that went away pretty quickly. All the various characters have their own side stories that form a tangled web of chaos which is gradually, although not fully, unraveled. By the last episode I was pretty invested in the story, despite working out the major twist very early on. I'm not mad at that though. I'd love to see more of this show and really hope they get a second season.

I was exciting about this, because it was promising since the cast is so good, but I am a little bit dissappointed...
The cast is great, I like everyone, especially Linda, but this series although I tried, did not get to me in any way. My thoughts were through entire show how something is missing, I felt like every character in this show did not develop fully, if you know what I mean? Like they did not get through all the potential they have and I simply don't know why.
Unlike the show Dead to me, this one unfortunately can not be compare to, not even close. They obviously tried, but failed at the very beginning.
It is watchable, for sure, you have to give it a chance since the cast is great, but I did not feel anything to any character at all, and like I said, the main problem is not the plot/story, it is a lack of fully developing every character in this show, so you don't feel attached, just a little bit bored.

No Good Deed was just absolutely underwhelming. The show started out by introducing all of the characters and showed some promise with its cast. But after the open house scene, everything starts to unravel in a sharp decline. What follows is a jumble of random storylines that fail to come together in any coherent way, leaving me confused about what's even happening. The characters, while initially interesting, are not developed enough for us to truly care about some of the things thrown in there. The plot doesn't give us enough time with them to form a connection, and the random twists feel forced, lacking the emotional weight they were supposed to carry. It's a frustrating watch, and by the end, it's hard to see the point of any of it.
The series unfortunately undelivered on most aspects. The characters (with the exception of Lydia maybe) are somewhat plain and their actions predictable. Their presentation is surface level and doesn't go beyond putting characters in a mold. They seem to just be strung along the story until their storylines converge and yield something meaningful and interesting to the plot.
While the series does't show its binge watching potential in the first 1-2 episodes, it does manage to rope you in - but only because of its 'whodunit' nature, not necessarily because of the quality of dialogue, character development or comedy.
Despite its shortcomings, it is a nice watch - but doesn't go beyond that, it doesn't bring anything new/unique.

Interesting little series... takes awhile to develop but worth the wait. Lydia (Lisa Kudrow) probably had the best performance. Don't understand Hollywood's obsession with using the "F-Word" every five seconds... very distracting and seriously, does anybody really constantly talk that way all the time? Plot was pretty good overall and held together well over eight episodes. As advertised, it certainly was a dark comedy but definitely had a lot of funny comedy included. Cast was pretty good... good enough to wish there were a few extra episodes to watch but all in all it kinda drew you in and made you want to see the finale.

A great script with a lot of suspense and very interesting characters! Lisa Kudrow is beyond good with an excellent performance and incredibly emotional moments throughout the series! The direction keeps you interested with clever ways and very beautiful scenes! A very easy series to watch on a weekend without losing your composure.
Linda Cardellini proves once again how good an actress she is, managing to pull off a classic role of a rich and insatiable woman trying to break into the world of high society!
The humor and its balance in combination with the development of the story is perfectly formed without taking you out of the story.

I absolutely loved this show! It has everything from excellent acting (Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano were outstanding) to emotional drama to comedy. Los Feliz is such a desirable and darling neighborhood and it was so nice to see it showcased as the gem that it is. Hats off to the writers and directors of this show...BRAVO!
The plot reveals itself in multiple layers and slowly exposes the truth behind the trauma. I was compelled by the individual stories and reasons for wanting to live in this stunning home.
Nice spending time with these characters and when it was over, I realized I wanted to see more from all of them (except the annoying realtor, the one weak link).

No Good Deed is a Netflix dark comedy series created by Liz Feldman who also was behind Dead to Me. The storyline involves three families vying the purchase the same house in the Los Felix neighborhood owned by estranged couple Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow. Luke Wilson plays an unemployed soap opera actor who is married to Linda Cardellini whose character is selfish, cheating housewife with a few secrets of her own. O-T Fagbenle plays a self proclaimed writer and is married to Teyonah Parris who is expecting their first baby, they are looking to move into a bigger home for their expanding family that also includes the mother-in-law who is played by Anna Maria Horsford. The third couple includes Poppy Liu and her partner Abbi Jacobson who plays an assistant DA. There are many side stories including Denis Leary as Ray's brother who just got out of prison, Linda Lavin as the nosy neighbor, and Johnno Wilson as the gay real estate agent. Vanessa Bayer had a cameo and Will Ferrell was one of the producers of this show. Overall the series was slow but as gripping as Dead to Me. I am not sure where the story would take these couples in follow up seasons but we will see if Netflix does renew for another season.
If you are looking at this show through a narrative lens the pieces don't fit. There were lots of red herrings. We dive so far into each character's backstory that the overall story doesn't feel strong enough to stay on track. It all comes together in the end. It definitely would be stronger without the ensemble. There are lots familiar faces so i understand why they did that. There were some weak characters, both in writing and performance. Some of the others seemed to struggle with the balance of comedy and drama. I think it's time Netflix gave Linda Cardellini her own show. Best part by far.

It's watchable to the end, by turns amusing and irritating, ultimately soft hearted.
However the outstanding reason to watch is is Lisa Kudrow. She is superb, bring tremendous nuance to her scenes, very funny and also touching. Why is she not in more and better shows/ films?

Although I really like Ray Romano, Lisa Kudrow, Luke Wilson and Linda Cardellini this was just the same old garbage.
No laughter. Just Drab dialogue. Oh and the typical every race, creed, color and sexual preference had to be represented within the first five minutes or God forbid someone may have been offended. Hollywood is still at it. There's basically no such thing as entertainment anymore. Just representation. The writing talent seems to go out the window now as the writer doesn't write creatively anymore. It just seems like they write to please everyone which makes for pretty terrible television. Oh well that's Hollywood. The land of over compensation.

Yes, the storyline unravels a bit slowly, doesn't immediately grab you emotionally, and there are a lot of sidestories. I can see how that can be off-putting for people (including my husband). I liked it, I knew it would be worth it and for me it was.
I came to a love all the side characters, loved the casting and the variety of comedic timing and portraying emotions by the different actors.
The only actors I didn't like were Lisa and Ray, which was a bummer because I am actually a huge fan of Lisa and watched the show mainly because of her. But for me the two had no chemistry whatsoever, and even the kissing scene and the happy ending felt forced. I didn't like Lisa's acting on this show (and Ray's voice) and I think because of the lack of chemistry the whole series felt like there was no center of gravity. And they should have been the ones pulling the story together. It got better with their daughter appearing, though.
Reading other reviews I realize that other people feel different about their acting, and I respect that, but for me they weren't the best possible cast.
