Sushant Sreeram, country director of Prime Video India, has reiterated the streamer’s intention of doubling down on investments in the territory.
“Our five-year plan in India for Prime Video is to double what we have done in the last seven years. And our investment thesis is actually an apt reflection of that. We have committed to doubling our investment over the next five years compared to what we have invested in the previous five. We said this recently and we continue to stick to it,” Sreeram told Variety. “The question that I and the entire team in India is asked is, ‘Can we do this twice as bigger? Can we deliver, twice as much for customers across shows movies and the whole works? That’s the simple summary of what the five-year plan is.”
Earlier this year, Prime Video signed a deal with the Indian government to boost the country’s creative economy.

The 2018 Lust Stories was famous for many reasons, one of which was that the directors mostly explored the lust and attraction women feel on various occasions and how they look at relationships. It was an eye-opener for the Hindi cinema space because, for the first time, they decided to explore the lust that leads to love most realistically. No stalking or song and dance routine, just two humans interacting and figuring out things about what the human body wants. The next anthology brings us four more directors exploring the same concept in their own way and helping the audience understand how differently the idea can be presented.

Jee Karda, the brand-new Prime Video original by Arunima Sharma, Hussain Dalal, and Abbas Dalal, might have had its flaws, but it got the vibe of a large friend group being there for each other right. There are tensions, awkwardness, brutal honesty, and love that are shared in abundance between the eight of them, and one feels content to watch the makers effortlessly present their chemistry. We have had many shows in the past that paved the way for this genre called friendship/romance drama, and here is a comparative list of why these shows need to be watched on a lazy weekend to just put a smile on your face.
Little Things (2016)
Little Things, which began as a YouTube Original in the year 2016 and was later picked up as a Netflix Original, is about a couple in a long-term relationship trudging through life, love, career, financial struggles, and insecurities.

Jee Karda, the brand-new Prime Video Original, talks in depth about relationships and friendships and the ups and downs they go through regularly, only for one to realize this is normal and the solution lies in standing by one’s friends no matter what. Jee Karda is the tale of eight childhood friends who remain a tight-knit group even though they are well into adulthood and trying to make a life out of choices they’ve made for themselves.
Season one was an easy watch that helped us understand how romantic relationships work and how each couple in the group and even the single ones have their own issues to tackle. Season one ended with Shahid’s pent-up anger against his group coming out, and him revealing that he was witness to Arjun and Lavanya’s betrayal, and he does not regret making this news public now. Romance and friendship drama shows are a good indulgence. They have a good repeat value because this genre comes with breezy storytelling with no heavy drama, yet they tap into the right emotions. Jee Karda is the new Prime Video Original that takes us through childhood friends who remain together during their adulthood as well. Nothing has changed, but at the core, they know some aspects of their relationships have altered.
Set in Mumbai, Jee Karda begins with a fortune teller predicting the future of the eight kids, and none of them taking it seriously. The whole point of approaching him is for them to have a good time together. Kids as young as them are not ready to understand the magnitude of what the man predicted for them. This sets the tone for Jee Karda because the audience knows the story is about all these eight kids and their lives from here on.
