When Pamela Anderson was announced as the star of Gia Coppola’s third film, “The Last Showgirl,” the stage was set for a massive career resurgence for the one-time “Baywatch” star. Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and Steve Vai have announced the G3 Reunion Live album, arriving January 31st. The virtuoso guitarists’ extended jam on Cream‘s “Crossroads” can be streamed now.
The live album was captured during the trio’s performance at the The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles earlier this year as part of the 2024 G3 reunion tour.
Arriving on 4-lp and 2-cd, the live album recreates the actual format of the G3 concerts: each guitarist performing a distinct set before the three virtuosos take the stage together for an all-out jam session.
The first LP features a full set from Vai; the second LP belongs to Eric Johnson; the third LP is Satriani; and the fourth LP (on splatter vinyl) houses the jam session — a medley of “Crossroads,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Spanish Castle Magic,” and a closing rendition of Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild.”
