This movie was soooooo good it's not even funny. Without spoiling anything, I will say they dare to rip the band-aid off of uncomfortable truths that have been implicated/intimated in the majority of storytelling in films of the past. You get that here and there, but to have the band-aids off of so many layers of systematic problems throughout the entire film- from beginning to end surprisingly- was so different and refreshing. Heck, I didn't know that my spirit sort of needed it. To have these issues, these complications, these lows but also the highs portrayed so well by such strong actors made it so easy to get lost in the story and connecting on some level to each character-- even the really bad one. ;-) The production, in its rawness, was spectacular. The editing was purposeful. Very well done.
My goodness. This movie left me breathless and wanting absolutely nothing for I was truly full. A MUST GO SEE! The main criticism that I have for it is that it's not in more theaters. This is a movie that should be shared with a much broader audience. I hope it's picked up and put in more theaters so I can talk about it with more friends and family across the country! lol This could be a hit for sure!

Very rarely do I encounter great movies like this. The actors did a great job embodying their characters. Probs to Shanola Hampton and Omari Hardwick for not acting but just being; they immersed themselves so well into their characters, it was almost like they weren't even trying which made it so relatable. I could easily relate it with my life, I felt their struggle and identified with their pain.
Now, I'm not a poet or know much poetry but I enjoyed every aspect of this movie. I give it a 10/10..

I was just scrolling through the Pluto app, when I came across this beautifully written movie. Ambivalent at first, but being a poet myself, I felt compelled to watch. Was never quite into slam poetry, spoken word, but when you hear, see and feel it, it pulls you in like a slow wind. This movie is right up there with Love Jones, which is one of my all time favorites. When Curtis (Omari) spoke, you listened. Watching two people fall in love (even if it is just a movie) gives me hope there's someone out there who will truly get me.
I'm surprised no one told me about this movie. It is very well written and acted. Takes a deeper look at the stereotypes usually found in this type of movie. Not predictable just good.

I'm going to be honest the only reason I looked at the movie because of Mr. Omari. I have never heard of this movie. I was just browsing through because I had nothing else to do. And I saw Mr. Omari's face. The movie ended up being a 10 for me. I'm not a person that is into spoken word but guess what I think I'm going to attend some open mic nights (spoken word). Everyone played their parts to the fullest and I loved it. I'm glad things ended up the way they did. Ladies, you know what i change that ALL people need to remember. Theirs always someone that'll love you more and much better than that abusive partner in heir lives. LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT! There's nothing left for me to say. But this is a great movie by all means. Everybody should view it and tell the next person about it so they can view this movie as well.

This movie was well written, well acted and directed very well. Honestly the pacing was a bit slow, but that did not ruin the film. I am so happy to see a Black family portrayed in its fullest form. They all had their deepest secrets, they were very real characters and even one of the main characters, the abusive husband, (oops I gave part of it away) was realistic. We saw his "reasons" for the abuse and the director did not go over the top. This film was written for an intelligent audience. We need more of this sort of film, its characters are rich, full and developed. Was this movie in the theatres? Why not? It's got the stuff strong films are made of.

Great movie. Most obviously compared to "Love Jones" (a classic in its own right), but so much deeper. Yes, there is love. Yes, there is poetry. But there is so much more.
I read another review of this movie and agree wholeheartedly. I too am dealing/have dealt with issues that are at the core of this movie. This movie has helped me get a sense of understanding about myself and past relationships. This movie is therapeutic.
Why have I not heard of this movie before? Why does one have to stumble across such a great work of art? I'm asking myself - am I over-rating this movie? I think not.

I truly wish it hadn't ended. It was so invoking and real. I felt like it was a modern day "Love Jones (which happens to be one of my favorite movies... ever!!) The main characters were real life, everyday people. They were people that you know, friends, and family members. The might actually be you. They didn't paint fairy tale images, they gave you raw reality. Some good, some bad, and some ugly.
It was such a sexy story line. And I love a story that doesn't give you the ending that you expected. I felt in love at times. When I can feel as the actors feel, that's always indicative to me of a great story.
I would love to see more of this movies writers and producers. I guess I am a sucker for poetry, sex, love, hate, fighting, drama, sadness, and truth. Things Never Said will take you on that roller coaster ride that you've missed as a child. Real Housewives of Atlanta, has nothing on this movie. Definitely don't need to wait 13 episodes to get some juice.
One thing that I would have liked is a stronger, more intense ending, but it was good either way.

The feeling you'd get after being on an island during a category 200 hurricane and feeling the sun on your face. You've prayed to the god who is your you alpha and omega.. and your payer is answered. You live. The possibilities of what could be exist in your life. The path of pain to Eden exists- If You're Capable#
I cherish this creation. I'll ask my sister to watch it if she gets to a point where she can handle it!
