I was just blown away by how inspiring this movie is, so much so my wife and I have watched the movie 3 times already and we still cry in the same scenes in the movie even though we know what is coming. To me, that just shows how great a movie this truly is.
It shows how much a community can make a difference in a child's life. I would recommend this to anyone of faith and family, it is without a doubt a must watch movie. To think that Brycen's high school and its community came together to help save this young man's life is just amazing.
I thought Daniel Roebuck and Kathy Peterson "Ed & Marilyn Hanson" did a wonderful job as husband and wife and kept a very difficult subject light hearted which allowed you to laugh after you just finished wiping the tears away. Other great performances were Eddie McClintock "Rick Newman," Brennan Hunt "Alex," Nick Avila "Miles Himmel," they all did a fantastic job. The only critique would be Kory Gettman "Brycen Newman" some of his acting was way over the top, and I wish there were more scenes with Dean Cain "Dr. Getty" in them. The woman ER doctor Christin Jezak "Dr. Sam," sure did make you want to punch her, so she did a great job if that is how the role was written.
I did check and this is a true story, you can google Brycen Newman and brain cancer and see all the news articles and news video clips to see what really happened and it looks like the movie really captured what this poor young man actually went through. I can't even begin to understand what Brycen's parents went through, but through their faith and the faith of Brycen's high school community it was a story book ending.
I couldn't disagree with the other user review more regarding the incorporation of Rachel Platten's "Fight song" at the end of the movie. I have 3 relatives that have dealt with cancer and they have all said that this song is what fighting cancer is all about. Kudo's to the producer for using it at the end when Brycen was healed. As my sister Julie says, taking back your life from cancer is all you want to do, because cancer takes so much of your life in the first place.
This is a 10 out of 10 rating for me, I wish there were more movies like this. I have recommended it to my kids and friends, I recommend you watch it also!
If you believe in Faith and Family you definitely need to watch this movie, and it doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman bring some tissues, this is one of those movies that hits you right in the heart!
On a side note, I would like to buy that Mustang! What a show stopper!
