Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B has optioned feature rights to The Jaunt, a 1981 Stephen King short story about a futuristic method of teleportation. Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the duo behind 2013 frightener Mama (he directed, she produced and both collaborated on the screenplay), have been tapped to develop, with Andy directing.
King’s story was first published in Twilight Zone Magazine but only garnered acclaim when it was included in the author’s 1985 short-story collection, Skeleton Crew. Set in the 24th century, the story revolves around ‘jaunting,’ a method of teleportation in which the individual is put under anesthesia during their travels, lest the process cause their mind to implode from experiencing time standing still. One father, preparing his family for a trip to Mars, recounts the controversial and chilling history of jaunting.

Amnesia TV show Blindspot will bring Lady Sif actress Jaimie Alexander and Arrow/The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti together…
Here’s an announcement that wins a fair few geek points just by telling you who’s involved – Greg Berlanti (one of Arrow and The Flash’s core writers and executive producers) will team up with Thor/Thor: The Dark World co-star and occasional Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. cameo-maker Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif, if you were wondering) for a new amnesia thriller called Blindspot.
As if you need more convincing, the set-up is thus: Jane Doe (Alexander) climbs out of a duffel bag with no memories and finds herself at the centre of an investigation in the middle of Times Square, New York. She’s covered in tattoos and entirely clueless about what’s going on. We’ve all been there, right? We're assuming she finds more than a few cringe-inducing...

Scott Staley worked on the 110th floor of the World Trade Center, but impulsively didn’t come into the office on September 11th, 2001. Consumed by survivor’s guilt, Scott starts to find his late co-workers’ belongings in his apartment. Stephen King’s short story, The Things They Left Behind, centers on this mystery born out of tragedy, and CBS has picked up a project based on the written work.
Billed as a “supernatural procedural drama”, Deadline reports that CBS recently purchased The Things They Left Behind from Seth Grahame-Smith and Greg Berlanti. CBS has ordered a put pilot for the project, meaning there will be financial penalties if the potential show is dropped. The project was penned by Seth Grahame-Smith and is based on King’s short story. Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Prods. are producing.

CBS has landed another Stephen King series that will be based on a short story he wrote back in 2003 called The Things They Left Behind. The network is currently running the series Under the Dome, which has been a really solid and successful show.
According to Deadline, the new series will tell the story of "two investigators carrying out the unfinished business of the dead." There's a lot more to it than that though, and the original story doesn't follow two investigators, so maybe they are changing some things around. Here's a description of the actual short story to give you a better idea of where the plot is grounded:
Almost a year after 9/11, strange things start happening to narrator Scott Staley, who—at the time of the attacks—is employed at 'Light and Bell Insurance' on the 110th floor of the World Trade Center. Not only is Scott unable...

(Cbr) Hoping to repeat the success it’s had adapting Stephen King’s "Under the Dome," CBS has given a put-pilot order to a series based on the author’s 2003 short story “The Things They Left Behind.” Deadline reports the supernatural procedural will be produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and Greg Berlanti, and written by Grahame-Smith. The short story follows a man named Scott Staley who followed an inner voice and didn’t report to work at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. His survivor’s guilt is compounded when items belonging to his deceased co-workers begin appearing in his apartment. He soon discovers that his life’s mission is to give these items to the families of those who passed away. In addition to the series, the story has been adapted twice. The first was a short film by Pablo Macho Maysonet IV, the second a longer feature directed by Guillaume Heulard and Stéphane Valette.

Stephen King has long been the source for TV mini-series like The Stand and The Tommyknockers, but in recent years, his fiction has provided the jumping off point for several full series like Haven and Under The Dome. Now, it looks like another project will be making it to CBS in the form of The Things They Left Behind. The series, based on the short story of the same name, will be produced by Arrow's Greg Berlanti and Seth Grahame-Smith. Grahame-Smith, author of Pride And Prejudice And...

Seth Grahame-Smith and Greg Berlanti are bringing Stephen King’s The Things They Left Behind to TV.
With the success of Under The Dome, it’s not surprising to hear that more Stephen King properties are making the transition to telly. However, it is still very exciting news.
Next up to receive the televisual treatment from King’s vast back-catalogue is the short story The Things They Left Behind.
Warner Brothers and CBS are involved in producing a pilot, with writers Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash) also attached.
The aftermath of 9/11 is where the main plot of The Things They Left Behind takes place, with the story focusing on a duo of detectives as the central characters.
This isn’t the only Stephen King adaptation going-on either – a two-film adaptation of It is still believed to be in development at New Line Cinema,...

CBS is loving Stephen King and they decided to capture the whole end of the world market. Thus they ordered a pilot for Stephen King’s short story The Things They Left Behind. The story follows a pair of very different investigators who must help the dead wrap up their issues. Think of a hybrid of Ghost Whisper and Left Behind. Greg Berlanti and Seth Grahame-Smith are behind the pilot production. No word on when fans can expect to see it, except 2015 is a likely target if they do air it.
The show sounds like it could be an interesting one. At least it isn’t zombie based by the sounds of it. I am just not sure how CBS will like it since it really isn’t anything new to CBS. The show between former CBS shows and what they have CW, it seems like just a quick way to gain some attention.

CBS is tapping the work of Stephen King for programming inspiration again. The network's adaptation of King's novel “Under the Dome” was a welcome summer hit for CBS last year, and it has given a put-pilot order to another King adaptation, this time from Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “Brothers & Sisters”) and Seth Grahame-Smith (“The Hard Times of Rj Berger”). Rarely has a title been so apt.
Brian Freeman’s short story collection Weak and Wounded plunges us into small worlds, in which people live desperate lives and struggle with impossible decisions. Loss permeates every page: these people survive the deaths of parents, children, spouses, and siblings, only to find that survival might be a fate worse than death. But the power in these pages comes not from what our protagonists suffer, but how they suffer it. How they continue to go on.
One of Weak and Wounded’s best stories, “Running Rain” kicks off this short collection on familiar ground. Recognizable horror settings – dark forests, raging rivers – present themselves early, but Freeman’s focus is on the devastated family at the center of the story. Only slowly do we learn the nature of their devastation, and just when we think we know what the story is about, Freeman pulls...

Although I don't have the exact numbers right in front of me, I would be willing to lay a considerable wager that Stephen King has had more horror stories adapted to film than any other author. That seems like a safe bet. And now, through King's "Dollar Baby" program, director Pablo Macho Maysonet IV has added the September 11th thriller The Things They Left Behind to the list of King tales to make the big screen.
Through "Dollar Baby," selected filmmakers are granted the right to create a film from a Stephen King story for $1, allowing up-and-comers an opportunity to work with the legendary author's material.
The Things They Left Behind tells the chilling tale of a September 11th survivor who is being haunted by those from his past lost to the disaster. It is a powerful reminder of the day, especially as we reflect on the date during the 10th anniversary.
