George Romero, John Carpenter, and Wes Craven are considered classics, while today, we have a series of new, young directors who are great in the genre.

And since we’re writing this in a period of year when horrors are even more popular than usual, we have found a very interesting report that has seemingly determined the scariest horror movie of all time based on objective scientific criteria.

Netflix’s popularity can be attributed to many different movies and shows, but, in my opinion, their horror anthology series Black Mirror was integral to their overnight success because I can remember obsessing over its brutal satire like it was yesterday. Then, the streaming platform’s Indian branch made Lust Stories, and the idea of provocative storytelling featuring Bollywood stars felt promising. Love, Death, and Robots became everyone’s favorite almost instantly, with its vivid style and precise storytelling. And then things sort of went downhill with absolutely trashy products like Ghost Stories, Ludo, Paava Kadhaigal, Pitta Kathalu, Ankahi Kahaniya, Ajeeb Dastans, Feels Like Ishq, Ray, and Lust Stories 2. The only diamond in the rough was Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. Robert Cargill have signed a first-look agreement with Sony, specifically their genre-focused division Screen Gems, reports Deadline.

The idea behind the pact? To bring new genre films to movie theaters.

The noted horror filmmaker, who was known for his film Sinister handled the first live-action depiction of the Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU. Scott Derrickson’s The Gorge is rated PG-13 for: “Intense sequences of violence and action, brief strong language, some suggestive material and thematic elements.”

Sigourney Weaver (Aliens) stars alongside Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, The Northman, Last Night in Soho, The Menu) and Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick).

The Gorge is said to be an action love story with “genre-bending” elements.

Plot details, at this time, are completely under wraps. Stay tuned.

Miles Teller is set to executive produce in addition to starring. Zach Dean (The Tomorrow War) wrote the script. C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) and Sherryl Clark are producing.

Scott Derrickson is also directing The Black Phone 2, releasing October 2025.

Talking to IGN (via Toonado.com), supervising director Jake Castorena teased plans for Apocalypse in X-Men '97 season 2, explaining why the decision was made to put the spotlight back on the iconic villain. 

"With the X-Men, for better or for worse, all roads usually end up leading to Apocalypse, right? It's either Apocalypse, Sinister, or Magneto," he says. "What I will say is we do things on purpose.

Steve Rogers made his cameo appearance in X-Men ’97. The character was teased in a trailer that was released in the wake of the attack on Genosha that occurred in Episode 5 of the show, ‘Remember It‘. The character has made an appearance in the show’s predecessor, X-Men: The Animated Series, where he teamed up with Wolverine.

The episode saw Captain America investigating the attack on Genosha, which causes him to cross paths with Rogue, who is on a warpath in the wake of the same attack. Rogue and Captain America have a brief exchange, but Captain America refuses to go about fighting the perpetrators in the way Rogue is, which causes her to throw his shield away in frustration.
