Back in the days of Saturday Morning cartoons, networks would sometimes do these preview specials to show off the new cartoons premiering in their fall season lineup, and involved some stars to some of their popular primetime lineup. The Yummy Awards (full title being The 1st Annual Yummy Awards, which sadly, there was never a second annual), with Ricky Schroder (the star of Silver Spoons) hosting alongside Dwight Schultz (best known at the time for playing Howling Matt Murdock on the A-Team) as the master of ceremonies, with various stars from other NBC primetime sitcoms attending.
So, basically, this preview takes the form of an awards show, even going as far as to have a trophy that is basically a ice cream cone prop (hence the title). Basically, the nominees that win are the ones being previewed on the show, and characters appear in many forms (either animated, as a costume character, or even as puppets); This can be a hit (Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, and the Chipmunk suits look good with the moving mouths) or a miss (Gumby makes an appearance as a costume character, but has a different voice, and makes a joke about the SNL skits where Eddie Murphey plays him, something the target audience of this would not get due to being too young for the show, and Bozo The Clown sounds like another person). Also, there is a B-story where Spider-Man forgets his invitation and has to get it and come back in time.
Other than the problems, it is an okay special. Not only does it show clips for cartoons premiering the following Saturday, it also has a showcase of NBC shows from the past (with clips from classics like Pinky Lee and even Rocky and Bullwinkle). It's a neat special to check out for the sake of nostalgia.
