It's an okish anime, if you manage to hold on for the end.
Not gonna spoil anything, but I almost lost interest in it several times, yet the end is worth the boring, repetitive, almost stereotypical anime plot.
I know nothing about it's relation to other anime (if any), but as I watched it, it got me (even if barely).
Gore, some anime tiddies, some kawaii moments, meh, worth a watch at least.

It's really hard to recommend this because it sabotages itself with a horrible start, but if you like bloody things, you won't be disappointed. It's not called "blood" for nothing, you know. Some of the brutal stuff I saw gouged out my eyes.

I've followed Blood since the 2000 film which was dark, brooding, and angry; a truly sensual treat to the senses, primarily because of its equally dark, brooding, and angry main character. When the 2005 anime series Blood+ was released I watched excitedly, ever hoping for the appearance of the Saya from the movie version. While the series developed well and the story was engrossing, the Saya from the series never reached the level of the her motion picture counterpart. I can't say it was a disappointment because the series was so well executed.
When I found Blood-C, I hoped to find yet another incarnation of Saya who might stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the 2000 film version. I'm still waiting. I can't say I dislike the series because it has elements that are enjoyable to watch and a story the moves slowly toward bigger things. Still it lacks the intensity of the film or even the first series. In that the series is still ongoing, I can't say whether it will develop into the master work of the film or Blood+. I continue to hope and, for now, continue to watch.
If you enjoy the Blood concept, Blood-C may be enough to hold your interest and, as I said, hopefully it will develop into another arm of the original, engrossing idea.

Most people see this and ignore the quality of the story just because of the goryness.
It's a thrilling and entertaining script, with nice twists.
And for those who enjoy some violence and blood, is a must!

Having remembered Blood and Blood+ I figured this would be worth a watch but it's got more than a few flaws.
-Overall poor/average animation. Inconsistent sizing of the characters and object Comically stretched limbs on oddly thin characters
-Weak story Build is slow, repeated episodes without any clear direction and about 90 seconds of main story content. Last 2 episodes contain more story content then the previous 10.
-Oddly anticlimactic fights. Inside the context of the story the fights in the first 10 or 11 episodes "kind of" make sense, but the fights seem hollow when the main character is beat down for several minutes then kills the monster of the week in under 10 seconds.

A real anime, not suitable for minors. Too gory, violent, and with a lot of well-crafted fight scenes. A story that unfolds piece by piece, episode by episode, until it reaches an epic ending that will take your breath away.

This movie is very easily predictable. Not to mention the weird spindly long bodies with the giant boobs is hard to watch. It's a typical I'm a high-school person out to protect my friends and family and this case she never does and towards the end I was rooting for the monsters. Every time she gets beat up or watches all her friends die she then activates her power which spoiler her eyes just change and then she wins rinse repeat throwing a twist for the end which we all saw.... Garbage. Not to mention it is super gory. And if it's on like Hulu they will edit it even more.
Clumsy, good-natured Saya lives a happy life surrounded by her classmates, her admirers, and the loving guidance of her father, the priest of a shrine. But mysterious, bloodthirsty monsters have begun to appear, and as the daughter of the shrine, Saya is tasked with keeping the village safe - even if it costs the girl her life. Now, between her schoolwork and friendships, Saya must pick up the sword and keep these brutal creatures at bay. Will Saya be able to return to the quiet life she once knew?
Except the gory parts which you can fina on YouTube this is a complete waste of time. The characters are shallow and too stupid for their own good and the story up until the last episode is non existing.
Another entry to the Blood universe anime titles. Although they are all stand alone series, this title, like the others, has a main protagonist named Saya. They are each different, but have some of the same impotent character traits. This Saya, who is a very powerful warrior, will constantly have you yelling at your tv. "Why are you just standing there!? Do something!" was what my tv heard the most during this series. If it wasn't for the crazy gory action scenes (almost all of which are during Sayas standing around and watching sessions), this anime would be long forgotten as an entry to the Blood series. Blood+ was pretty terrible in the same aspect, but had a lot longer story. Whatever idiot Japanese writers thought people would enjoy watching the main protagonist stand around and watch people who they are supposed to protect get killed over and over again? To only kick it into gear after everyone is dead?! Lol. Stupid.

But otherwise a really slow and somewhat annoying pace. Had to quick forward through the first 10 episodes as it was dragging horribly.
It has it's moments, but I always felt like they put together two different animes, one with a very cutesy feel, which felt like it was going nowhere, and another with action that blood which still feels underwhelming. While the action/gore scenes are decent, most of it felt rushed and hollow. Story telling is bad, the real plot, is thrown at you in one episode.
Honestly, it only gets the 4 stars for the gorn.
Otherwise, I feel like his could have been a shorter series, like cut it down to 3 episodes. Or just watch the last episode on YT, you are not missing anything.
