Screenwriter Derek Kolstad wrote around 50 scripts before he finally broke through with the spec screenplay that became John Wick.
It’s an odd profession, screenwriting. There are some who’ve spent years trying to break into it, only to have their work changed to such a degree that their original idea has effectively vanished by the time it reaches the screen. There are others who get paid handsomely by studios to write screenplays that then wind up on a shelf, unused. For every celebrated screenwriter with millions in the bank and awards on their shelves, there are countless others who are behind on their rent and remain largely unknown.
Screenwriter Derek Kolstad, meanwhile, is something of an inspiration. He toiled away for years in the hope of making a career out of writing, and almost gave up when some of the low-budget movies he worked on didn’t bring in much of a salary.

The console, which should be on store shelves later this year to compete with Microsoft’s own next-gen device, the Xbox Series X, was finally revealed to the world the other week, and suffice it to say, folks were floored by what they saw.
Aside from showing us two different versions of the very modern-looking console, Sony also announced a number of games for the platform, beginning with Insomniac’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. But that was just the tip of the iceberg, as what followed was an avalanche of high profile, exciting and intriguing titles, leaving gamers with their jaws on the floor.

Keanu Reeves has, in recent years, seemingly been making headway in to the action genre with films like 47 Ronin and Man of Tai Chi.Gone are the days of Keanu the funny mam, Keanu the heartthrob leading man love-interest and in has come a stone-faced bearded bad-ass. Yet, whilst both the aformentioned films have there fans – me included – neither really set the genre alight. However all that changes with John Wick – a return to the R-rated, arse-kickery of the genres heyday, that isn’t afraid to get bone-crunchily violent and bullet-riddled with blood…
John Wick features Keanu Reeves in the titular role – a hitman who left the business five years ago after finding the love of a good woman.

"I once saw him kill three men with a pencil." After our own Alex Billington and Jeremy Kirk both loved John Wick so much that we have not just one, but two glowing reviews of the film starring Keanu Reeves, we have another tease of the action thriller coming next month. A new one-minute trailer has popped up online, and while it's pretty much a condensed version of the first trailer we saw, this one has some new bits of footage showing a bit more of Reeves taking on Adrianne Palicki and shooting this shit with Willem Dafoe. Plus, there's that fun line making John Wick seem like the new Bill Brasky. Watch! Here's the quick new trailer for David Leitch & Chad Stahelski's John Wick from YouTube: John Wick is directed by David Leitch & Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad (The Package, One in the Chamber). "It's not what you did son. It's who you did it to." Keanu Reeves is back in badass mode in the first trailer for John Wick, the action thriller debuting at Fantastic Fest this month. "Game of Thrones" star Alfie Allen steps over his bounds as the son of a crime boss by stealing the title character's car and dog, the latter left to him by his dead girlfriend, and now Mr. Wick wants his stuff back. But he also seems hellbent on teaching them a lesson too. This looks pretty slick and fun as hell, and there's plenty of room for supporting stars like John Leguizamo and Adrianne Palicki to be badasses alongside Reeves too. Watch below! Here's the first trailer for David Leitch & Chad Stahelski's John Wick from IGN: John Wick is directed by David Leitch & Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad (The Package, One in the Chamber...

We've already gotten one look at Keanu Reeves in the forthcoming action thriller John Wick, and this Friday the first trailer will debut. In the meantime, we have the first teaser poster that takes the titular character, an ex-hitman on an adrenaline-fueled path to revenge, and his namesake very literally. There's actually a wick leading to the head of Keanu Reeves, implying that he might explode. From another perspective, he also looks like some kind of firework balloon. We're not sure what to expect from this flick, but it will debut at Fantastic Fest later this month, so stay tuned to see if we like it or not. Look below now! Here's the teaser poster for David Leitch & Chad Stahelski's John Wick from Lionsgate: John Wick is directed by David Leitch & Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad (The Package, One in the Chamber). Welcome back to Mystery DVD Club. The idea behind this is simple: we went and bought a whole host of films we hadn't heard of before, none of which cost us more than a few pounds. It's been awhile since Keanu Reeves has really done anything worth paying attention to, but maybe a new shot of him getting back into action, and not in some weird medieval fantasy world, will help him get his groove back. John Wick is a new action thriller coming this fall, and while the title doesn't sound like anything special, the first look image of Reeves in the film is pretty bad ass, showing the star of The Matrix franchise armed and dangerous, complete with some longer hair and a beard. The film sees Reeves as the titular character, an ex-hitman who is out for vengeance. Sounds generic, but we're still hoping for the best. The ultimate downfall and dissolution of Silicon Knights is one of the uglier stories out of the business side of gaming in the last few years. Rumors of mismanagement alongside actual terrible games and a protracted lawsuit against Epic left the once-beloved developer a shell of itself. In all of the press surrounding those last days of Sk, Denis Dyack could be alternately seen as a visionary hustling to realize innovative game ideas or a huckster who misused resources to fob off a bad games to consumers in order to fund his grand visions.

With Dolph Lundgren and Cuba Gooding Jr.’s One In the Chamber (out now from Anchor Bay UK) blazing up the DVD charts we thought we would have a look at other action legends Dolph has gone “head to head” with!
1) One In The Chamber
It’s hitman vs. hitman in this explosive action-thriller. Dolph Lundgren goes head to head with Oscar® winner Cuba Gooding Jr. The pair star as two super-efficient killing machines, pitted against each other in an out and out mob war! Watch the trailer below.
2) The Expendables
In this monster action franchise Dolph plays mercenary Gunnar Jensen in the all star line up of action greats including Sly Stallone, Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke. ‘But he doesn’t go head to head with these guys’ I hear you cry! Ah, you must be forgetting Dolph’s fight scene with martial arts master Jet Li as Gunnar goes rouge!

Everybody still loves Cuba Gooding Jr., right? The man hasn’t been in a theatrical film in some time, yet he still keeps on pumping out direct-to-dvd stuff like One in the Chamber. He co-stars in William Kaufman’s film alongside Dolph Lundgren, who has been making a respectable comeback in Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables films.
One in the Chamber is a walk in the park for both men, but a sluggish one for the viewers as it contains every plot beat from a dozen other recycled assassin movies that deal with double-crossing and finding innocence in such nasty line of work. It’s a passable film though and that is all you can ask for whenever stars like these align.
Ray Carver (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is a killer. He works for whoever pays him the most and the only regret he ever had was killing a man in front of his daughter.

There are very few gangster movies in recent memory that rise above and beyond what is expected of them. One would cite David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises and Martin Scorsese’s The Departed as proof that the genre can still make the high honor roll; yet lately it seems that the classic gangster flick is content to settle for an easy C grade. One in the Chamber is precisely that kind of film; it is not completely terrible enough to flunk out of theatres but it also isn’t striving for anything special. It is vastly mediocre in every way. As a result, it ends up being more boring than one could think possible; if it were a film so bad that it was scraping the bottom of the barrel, it might at least have been entertaining with that underrated, so-bad-its-good snicker that certain films seem to have. Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr....

Moviefone's Pick of the Week "Bernie" What's It About? Jack Black re-teams with "School of Rock" director Richard Linklater for a twisted dark comedy about the true story of Bernie Tiede, an eccentric Texas community leader who murdered the town's rich widow Marjorie Nugent (played by Shirley MacLaine). See It Because: Linklater has always been a great actor's director. In addition to a hilariously icy MacLaine and Matthew McConaughey (who plays a big-headed Da), the director populates the film with eccentric personalities, including real neighbors of the actual Tiede. But this is Black's movie: his disappearance into the unique and flamboyant Bernie reminds you that beneath his trademark schtick is a gifted comedic actor. (Also Available on Redbox DVD & Blu-ray | Amazon Instant Video) New on DVD & Blu-ray "Chimpanzee" What's It About? Disney's latest documentary chronicles the true story of Oscar, a young baby who was orphaned and left to fend for himself in the wild.

It's a film you should make sure and see and one I'm pretty sure most all of you will enjoy if not love. Buying it on the other hand, doesn't seem like a necessity.
The Dictator To my surprise I didn't even have this movie on the schedule until adding it this morning. I'm not sure if that says anything about the film or not, but I probably should have realized considering all the press releases I deleted without opening related to the title over the last several days. So with that introduction,...

Dolph Lundgren and Cuba Gooding Jr. star in the latest Anchor Bay action film One in the Chamber. The two square off in classic head-to-head fashion, with the big and dangerous going up against the smart and furious.
One in the Chamber is your formula assassin vs. assassin film, with both men playing on opposite sides. Gooding Jr. hasn’t been in anything memorable as of late, but Lundgren has been making a slow comeback starring in bigger titles like the upcoming Expendables 2, which opens in theaters around the same time One in the Chamber hits Blu-Ray.
We have two new clips to share with you, one which is a boring snoozer, featuring Lundgren going over the rules with some higher up bosses and the second clip giving us our first look at Lundgren vs. Gooding Jr. I must admit that after watching the second clip I am now somewhat...

Anchor Bay has announced the Blu-Ray release of One in the Chamber, starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Dolph Lundgren, for August.
Cuba Gooding Jr. hasn’t had the best career as of late, mostly starring in straight-to-dvd B action films, but occasionally he provides us with a performance that reminds us why he was once Oscar material. One in the Chamber isn’t one of those performances (at least I wouldn’t think so), but it does look kind of fun.
The film also stars Dolph Lundgren, who appears to be getting pumped up for The Expendables 2.
Both men look to be fully embracing the cheesy one-liners, while kicking each other’s asses in between. I can’t say that One in the Chamber is going to be any good, but it just might make for an okay Saturday night rental with the buddies.

We announced Cuba Gooding Jr.'s involvement in this Mob/Assasin action-thriller a little less than a year ago. Directed by Will Kaufman (who also directed Gooding Jr in The Hit List) and set for a DVD/Blu-Ray release this August 21st, One In The Chamber also stars Dolph Lundgren and Claudia Bassols. Set in Prague, Gooding stars as an assassin hired by the Mafia to work for a gang he once tried to annihilate. Lundgren stars as another assassin hired to take on Carver (Gooding's character). Director William Kaufman's Sinners And Saints was one of the best action films, and one of my personal favourites, of 2011. The first great news is that, as some of you already know, it will have its Domestic Premiere at the upcoming North Carolina's ActionFest , the 'manliest, muscliest film festival on the whole damn planet', with director Kaufman and stars Johnny Strong and Tom Berenger in attendance. Now, Twitch has also got the exclusive scoop that Sinners And Saints 2 will be going into production this fall, with William Kaufman and Johnny Strong returning, and Chad and Evan Law (who worked with Kaufman on The Hit List as screenwriters and One In The Chamber as associate producers) penning the screenplay. Director Kaufman has promised the...

Director William Kaufman's Sinners And Saints was one of the best action films, and one of my personal favourites, in 2011. It was released in DVD format in a few overseas markets (including Australia, where I saw it) before securing a wide release (in DVD and Blu-ray) in its home country America earlier this month. It seems that many Us film critics have also been impressed by it. It therefore comes as no surprise that 2012 looks to be a very busy year for the director. When I interviewed Kaufman back in November last year, we talked about his new projects being One In The Chamber, an action thriller set in Romania that stars Cuba Gooding Jr. (who also starred in Kaufman's other recent...
