This is a very different series from usual anime fare. There's no giant robots, magic, crazy hair, just about every anime cliché you can think of is absent -- well almost. The jarring thing of this series probably is the incredible amount of bizarre facial expressions and the abuse of dutch tilts.
Aside from that the series really is much more about characters and the aesthetics in a crazy surreal comedy about a Feudal Lord from Ancient Japan who was obsessed with tea. Frankly it's the kind of story that lends it self better to a short film more than a 39 episode TV series.
It is a gutsy to make such an artsy title in a time when adorable little girls doing adorable little things (K-ON for example) is burning up the charts when the industry is at such a crossroads. Still those who like the strange and unusual shows and the art house shows and just want something different it's really for you. A very limited market at best but maybe worth a look.
