All cast members play themselves, using their own adult movie stage names in this story which pokes fun at the X-rated film business.
Knowing that Randy Spears was planning on retiring after 20 years as an adult movie actor, Cash Markman wrote the script dealing with Spears, playing a tragic version of himself, wanting to leave the adult movie business but becoming trapped on set - as a ghost - after dying. The working title was "Randy Spears is Dead." When Penthouse refused to release a movie with such a title, Markman changed it to "An Orgasm to Die For," which was later shortened by Penthouse to "The Orgasm." Spears did retire from the X-rated movie business prior to the release of this movie.
