The last time I saw Anthony Wong fighting onscreen, he was battling Sammo Hung in the very silly “Naked Soldier” movie. Anyways, Hung isn’t around in Wong’s latest, “Ip Man: The Final Fight”, but Eric Tsang showed up to lend a hand — or a fist of fury or two. (Curiously, Hung appeared in “Ip Man 2″ starring Donnie Yen as the titular hero.) Take a look at a new English-subtitled trailer and images for Herman Yau’s film. I’m sure the film itself is pretty action-packed, something you don’t actually get a sense of in this new, rather whimsical trailer. You can watch the first much more action-heavy trailer here. In post-war Hong Kong, legendary Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man is reluctantly called into action once more, when what begin as simple challenges from rival kung fu styles soon draw him into the dark and dangerous underworld of the Triads.

Back in the crazy heyday of Hong Kong cinema, the word ‘naked’ used to appear in film titles a lot, particularly in those produced by schlockmeister Wong Jing. Notable examples of this were cult favourites “Naked Killer” (1992) and “Naked Weapon” (2002), two films revolving around sexy, scantily clad (or indeed naked) female assassins, with plenty of blood and bullets thrown in. Forming a loose series of sorts, the two have now been joined by “Naked Soldier”, again with Wong Jing as producer, and directed by Marco Mak (“Wo Hu”), with industry legend Sammo Hung on hand, backed by the expected bevy of limber beauties, including up and coming actress Jennifer Tse (sister of Nicholas Tse, and who also recently appeared in “Hong Kong Ghost Stories”) in the title role. The film kicks off in 1980 with Sammo as Interpol agent Lung, taking a trip to the states after successfully pulling off a massive drugs bust.

Uber-producer Wong Jing returns with Naked Soldier, the third of his Naked movies, in what appears to be a decennial tradition, following on from Naked Killer in 1992 and 2002's Naked Weapon. This time Marco Mak is in the director's chair and Jennifer Tse is the drop dead gorgeous killer, who slowly discovers that she had a different life before becoming a cold-blooded assassin.  I'm curious to see how well Tse shapes up as an action heroine, as the film sees her going head-to-head with the likes of Sammo Hung, Philip Ng and Andy On. If martial arts prowess proves to run in the Tse family then Naked Soldier has every chance of being a somewhat guilty pleasure. However, the first trailer showed Tse doing...

I know most people aren’t as excited about this one as I am, but that’s because they don’t appreciate a good girls-and-guns flick when they see it. Andy Sidaris is treated like a God in my house, and director Marco Mak’s “Naked Soldier” seems to exist somewhere between “Hard Ticket to Hawaii” and Corey Yuen’s “So Close”. I know this is supposed to carry on in the tradition of “Naked Weapon”, but, to me, it doesn’t have the same tone. Maybe that’s just me looking back on that flick with rose-colored glasses. It’s been almost one year ago to the day that we last covered director Marco Mak’s hot chick-oriented action endeavor “Naked Soldier”, another upcoming motion picture which features action choreography from Corey Yuen. The latest poster — which has been lovingly installed to the left — looks to carry on in the tradition of “Naked Weapon”, the Wong Jing-produced cheesefest starring the the gorgeous Maggie Q. Chinese movie-goers will finally have an opportunity to see the flick when it arrives in theaters this summer. In case you’ve forgotten, here’s what the flick is about: Interpol agent Ck Long busted a billion-dollar drug deal fifteen years ago. What's old is new again. Exactly two decades ago, notorious filmmaker Wong Jing produced Naked Killer, a "Girls With Guns" film that became a Hong Kong cult classic due to its graphic violence and explicit sexual nature.  He then followed it up a decade later with Naked Weapon, an unrelated film but containing similar themes.  Now he's at it once again in this decade with Naked Soldier and while times have changed, the level of sex and violence continues to stay the same.   The director is Marco Mak with Corey Yuen serving as action director.  In the cast is Jenn Tse, Sammo Hung, Anthony Wong, Philip Ng, Ankie Beilke, Lena Lin, Andy On, Luxia Jiang and Ellen Chan.Interpol agent Ck Long busted a billion-dollar...

I’m a little late to the cinematic kung fu party on this one, my friends, but who cares? The “Naked Soldier” teaser trailer is here, ready and willing to give you the “sexy girls doing martial arts” fix you oh-so desperately crave. The film’s predecessor, Siu-Tung Ching’s 2002 actioner “Naked Weapon”, isn’t a stroke of genius by anyone’s standards, though it does feature quite a few nifty set pieces featuring the lovely Maggie Q. That alone gets it a few cool points, all of which are immediately deducted for that hideously cheesy rape sequence. “Naked Soldier”, while Maggie-less, looks like it’s going to be an absolute blast. The official site for Naked Soldier has updated with two new posters for the film, which stars Jenn Tse as the Naked Soldier (so where’s the nakedness?) and action choreography by the great Corey Yuen. Sammo Hung also stars.
