His agent, Susan Tolar Walters, said, “He was one of the nicest people I have ever met and he will be missed.”

The actor, whose career spanned seven decades, also portrayed the father of Kathleen Robertson’s character in “Beverly Hills, 90210” for 26 episodes from 1994-1997. From 1997-2002, Pryor starred on the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles,” playing former spy Victor Collins. CBS first picked up the soap in April under the title of The Gates. It is being developed by CBS Studios’ partnership with the NAACP. The soap is slated to start production this fall in Atlanta and is expected to hit the small screen in early 2025.

Title and Time

Until now, the project that CBS Studios is producing in conjunction with the NAACP has been known as The Gates. However, with this casting windfall comes news that the title has changed. From here on out, the first soap created in 25 years will be known as Beyond The Gates.

What’s even better news is that Beyond The Gates (Btg) will be the first Black one-hour daytime drama to air on television. In fact, Generations, NBC’s groundbreaking African-American soap that aired in the early ’90s, was a 30-minute show.

The streamer has ordered Every Year After, an adaptation of Carley Fortune’s best-selling novel Every Summer After. Leila Gerstein (Hart of Dixie, Hulu’s Saint X) is adapting the novel and will serve as showrunner, executive producing with Fortune. Amazon MGM Studios is producing.

The Western is a genre that's mostly gone by the wayside in recent decades, as portraits of straight-shooting American heroes and uncomplicated "bad guys" have become less digestible to the public. While popular neo-Westerns (like "Justified" or the works of Taylor Sheridan) and perspective-changing genre breakdowns have made a splash in recent yers, the genre has mostly died out. Of the relics that remain, few are as prolific and familiar as "Bonanza," a Western series that ran for an impressive 14 seasons on NBC in the '60s and '70s.

As a long-running TV series, "Bonanza" was able to chart the change — or stubborn lack thereof — within the genre and the country, frankly addressing topics like racism and bigotry while also delivering regular laughs and a dash of melodrama to loyal viewers. Rachel Bilson opened up about the difficult topic of miscarriage during the latest episode of her Broad Ideas podcast.

The 42-year-old Hart of Dixie actress said on the episode that she has suffered multiple miscarriages.

“It’s one of the biggest things I talk about with pregnancy and having babies. I’ve had miscarriages so I’ve had losses,” Rachel said while chatting with author Libby Weintraub, who wrote the book “She Was Born: Words on Loss and Liberation.”

During the episode, Rachel talked about giving birth to her only child, daughter Briar Rose, who was born in October 2014.

An idyllic setting, charming cast, and sweet love story are often the ingredients needed for a good comfort watch. The desire to escape everyday pressures since the pandemic has seen viewers like myself going back to old favorites such as Gilmore Girls or finding something newer like Virgin River, currently streaming its fifth season on Netflix.

With each season reaching Netflix’s top ten, Virgin River has capitalized on fan’s love of Robyn Carr’s 21-book-long series of the same name and our increasing impulse to find new shows that don’t require too much of our attention. Virgin River is precisely that as it lacks terror-inducing Jaws music and instead provides Hallmark-esque vibes with the added dash of danger from the illegal drug trade surrounding the town.

Can it really be 20 years since “The O.C.” premiered on Fox? The young actors of the series, Benjamin McKenzie, Adam Brody, Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson quickly became in-demand stars and the theme song “California” by Phantom Planet became a top ten hit in several countries while also reaching 35 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart.

The bagel-centric series also introduced us to “Chrismukkah” and showcased bands from The Killers to Modest Mouse.

Several members of the cast went on to lead their own series and films and others have popped up on hit shows from “How I Met Your Mother” to “Grey’s Anatomy.” Here’s what they’ve been up to since “The O.C.” signed off in February 2007.

Exclusive: Dexter Darden (Chang Can Dunk), Chloe Bridges (Maggie) and Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill) have joined the cast of Amber Ruffin and Kenny Smith NBC comedy pilot, Non-Evil Twin.

Darden plays Marcus, a contemporary nerd and tech developer for exercise equipment. He’s a good guy, but no fan of confrontation, which makes it hard for him to do the right thing at times. Bridges plays Robin, the CEO of Dandee Sports Apparel and Angie’s (Ruffin) corporate nemesis. She’s a self-described woman of faith who’s a shark in the boardroom. Buckley plays Samson, Angie’s not-so-bright lawyer who, in addition to providing legal counsel, provides Angie with anything she needs…be it copious amounts of rosé or sex.

The multi-camera pilot stars Ruffin playing the dual roles of twin sisters Angie and Amber. Angie is the ruthless CEO of AngieCorp, who is as heartless as she is rich.

Though they merely play salesmen in Apple TV+‘s new comedy, Hello Tomorrow!, Billy Crudup and Nicholas Podany clearly learned a thing or two about hawking timeshares on… the moon.

“Tell me something, Matt — how’s that office there treating you?” asked Podany during a recent Zoom call with TVLine. “Is it big enough? You got enough light coming in? Well, up on the moon there’s nothing but acres for you to do whatever you like up there. You like seeing the stars? Boom, baby!”

The CW has set the premiere dates for the final seasons of “Riverdale” and “Nancy Drew.

Season 7 of “Riverdale” is set to air Wednesday, Mar. 29 at 9 p.m. Et and 10 p.m. Pt, and the fourth season of “Nancy Drew” debuts Wednesday, May 31 at 8 p.m. Et and 9 p.m. Pt.

Both season finales will conclude the same night, Wednesday, Aug, 23, with the “Nancy Drew” series finale airing first followed by the final episode of “Riverdale.”

“‘Riverdale’ and ‘Nancy Drew’ are two beloved CW series with some of the most passionate and dedicated fans in all of television, and these final seasons are true gifts to them,” Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment for The CW Network, said. “As we prepare to say farewell to these iconic characters, there are still plenty of surprises and shocking twists packed into both series as they conclude at the top of their game.”

Rachel Bilson is making a brief return to TV in Fox’s forthcoming crime anthology series Accused.

The O.C. and Hart of Dixie vet will appear in one of the 15 episodes, each of which explore a different crime in a different city with an entirely different cast. Bilson’s episode — which revolves around a “family caught in a troubling situation” — also stars Jack Davenport (Smash), August Maturo (Girl Meets World) and Reid Miller (You).

Mimoun has signed up to serve as showrunner and exec producer on HBO Max’s The Girls on the Bus – a drama series inspired by Amy Chozick‘s Chasing Hillary.

The project, which comes from Julie Plec, Chozick, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV, has had a long journey to screen, having originally landed at Netflix with a series order over two and a half years ago, moving to The CW for development in the last broadcast cycle before landing a series order at HBO Max earlier this year.

U.K. broadcaster ITV has signed an agreement with WarnerMedia International Television Distribution to be the exclusive free-to-air home for several programs including Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble’s comedy series “The Sex Lives of College Girls.”
