The rationale behind the rule, to avoid conflicts of interest, perceived or otherwise. That being said, as a matter of good Community Policing Policy, a member of the general public is less like to take an adversarial stance in an interaction with a police officer, if it is a person they know very well

It has potential

After watching the first episode there is alot to like. Great casting, good writing & back in the streets of New York. There is 1 small thing missing from the show that shocked me wasn't there, where is the humor? With writing that come from NYPD Blue I was expecting there to be some humor sprinkled into the show at some point. They definitely have the actors to pull it off. If they can find a way to add that into the show we will have the perfect mix of drama, action & comedy. That will make for a great show. B- first episode with the potential to get much better. Good start so far, I'm excited to see what happens next.
