When I stumbled upon this 2022 TV movie titled "Killer Design" and seeing that it was a Lifetime movie, I have to admit that I wasn't really harboring much of any grand expectations. But since it was movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and give it a chance.
The storyline, as written Robert Dean Klein, was a pretty straight forward one, but at the same time also a somewhat generic and predictable one. If you are familiar with the formula of the Lifetime movies, then you already know what you're in for here. Sure, "Killer Design" was watchable enough for what it was, but it was by no means a revolution in the thriller genre, much less of the TV movie thriller genre.
The acting performances in "Killer Design" were fair enough. The actresses and actors did adequate jobs with the limitations imposed upon them by a somewhat generic script. There were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list here for me, such as Jackée Harry and Paul Logan.
If you enjoy thrillers, then there are far more enjoyable and memorable thrillers out there. Director David DeCoteau only managed to deliver a lukewarm experience here with "Killer Design".
My rating of "Killer Design" lands on a four out of ten stars.

Terrible- on all fronts. Embarrassingly bad. Poor directing, script, and the acting was perhaps the WORST I've ever seen. Who, WHO on earth cast this?
Clearly shot on the cheapest of cheap budget, the photography is elementary. The scenes dull. The lighting-without any nuance or skill. Sure, let's just stick a soft light right in front of the "actor", who cares how obvious that is.
Music, dreadful.
Pacing, snore.
The entire film was void of any real emotion.
How does LMN keep this charade going?
The actress playing villain has no idea what she's doing, and was clearly given no direction.
Another laughably bad film from Mr D level.

I went into this not knowing what it was about but before the film even started I could see how cheaply it was made and how much it lacked polish.
That was confirmed in the opening scene which I almost laughed out loud at. I wasn't sure if it was a spoof or not.
As it turns out it's not, but you know what I thought? I thought this is a group of new actors trying to showcase their skills and learnt heir craft at the same time. They were probably all friends and all went to the same acting school. But then I realised, not a single one of them has been to acting school!
So I was going to take it point by point but tbh the film isn't even worth taking apart. It's rubbish in every single way. That's all there is to it.

I don't know which one was worse: The terrible script or the terrible acting. I tried to watch it several times but couldn't get 30 minutes of it.
I have watched several bad movies in my life. But this movie is making on the top ten of my list. It doesn't surprise me that it's being showed only on Roku streaming channel.
My wife watched it in full after several tries but she had agreed that it's garbage.
The woman that makes the villain is the worse actor in this movie. And the script is so predictable!
The only good thing is the view of San Francisco.
Terrible! Do not waste your time on it.

Chelsea Gilson is stunning. The acting good, the plot is good. It will keep you watching till the end. It's very entertaining. I enjoyed this movie. I enjoyed the little acts of violence she carried out on various people. This was a woman on a mission. Just unhinged enough to be an interesting character. I often enjoy made for TV films as they don't try and fluff up the plot with needless excursions. They're straight forward and easy to follow. They don't have needless special effects peppered throughout as a substitute for plot. I enjoyed watching and would recommend this to others. It's just the sort of movie for a rainy day inside. Not to hard on the brain, and just a nice realistic story.
In short: The Room but actually well written and acted.
Barely familiar with David DeCoteau's work, I expected something lame, at best passing, at best of the worst comically awful, but it turned out to be neither!
Slow, cheap looking maybe, but written in a compelling, "human" way of just sort of blabbing off (not without hiccup, but mostly enjoyable), shot evenly and passively, but efficiently and sufficiently for the material, this movie SHINES with characters. People have reasonable worries and arguments, the main character is unreasonable, but within reason, and the villain is oh so villainous, noticeably poorly acting as a normal person, she just makes me so happy being so WEIRD and WRONG that I'm forgiving this movie everything else and still giving it 6/10, it's WORTH it, and I'm very very likely to see it again!
Thank you, David DeCoteau!
