Star Trek: Voyager debuted 30 years ago this month, and it’s a kick to look back at the show’s earliest days. For example, the Voyager cast are the old-timers now, as Enterprise, Discovery, Strange New Worlds, Prodigy, Lower Decks, several feature films, and now Section 31 have all followed. But, when Voyager started, “typecasting” was still very much a thing, the notion being that acting in a Star Trek production could lead to trouble landing subsequent roles after a series ended because the public and entertainment industry so strongly associated an actor with their Star Trek role. More than just about anyone other than Patrick Stewart, Voyager star Kate Mulgrew has avoided that fate.

Most know Karen Gillan as Nebula in the MCU or from the newer Jumanji films. Or if you’re a weirdo like me you remember her from her great work in the third season of Ntsf:sd:suv. Laura Chinn has signed an overall deal with Lionsgate Television.

The deal extends Chinn’s relationship with the studio, which produces her comedy series “Florida Girls.” Chinn created the series, which airs on Pop, in addition to starring and executive producing. The first season debuted in July with Pop picking it up for a second season in October.

It would be unfair to cite “Let's Be Cops” for being completely unfunny, but the movie at least deserves a warning for carrying so little actual humor over the course of its running time. Marco James (The Client List) has been tapped for a recurring role on Season 6 of the CW drama, TheWrap reports.

Continuing to look outside the traditional TV development process, Fox Broadcasting Co. has inked a first-look deal with Burning Love producer Jonathan Stern and executive/producer Keith Quinn. Under the pact, Fox will have first-look rights to comedy projects developed by Stern and Quinn that are suitable for development on digital platforms, such as Hulu and Roku, with the eventual goal of becoming TV series on Fox, FX, Fxx or other networks. One of the breakout stars of the hit BBC series Doctor Who is Karen Gillan, who gained a large number of fans during her time on the show. Following appearances in tv shows such as Ntsf:sd:suv:: and movies such as Oculus, many where excited to learn that Gillan was planning to return to television, this time in a lead role. Titled Selfie, the show is created by Suburgatory‘s Emily Kapnek, and Gillan stars alongside John Cho, David Harewood, Samm Levine, and Brian Huskey. Netflix isn’t quite batting 1,000 with its original shows, but it’s doing far better than I bet they dared to hope, and Orange is the New Black is a big part of the reason. Following the announcement of the date the second season will be available, now you can also mark your calendar for the release of the first season on Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital. May 13th is the date (with digital outlets getting a week head start on the 6th), which gives you a couple of weeks to binge the season before… well, before you have to sign up for Netflix, I guess. Or, you could do that now, and have more time to watch.

Well, look, not everyone is going to sign up for Netflix, and those people want to watch the show everyone is talking about too. More importantly, the release comes with a lot of bonuses.

Despite Suburgatory‘s third season not doing very well, or perhaps in spite of it, ABC greenlit a new comedy pilot from Suburgatory creator Emily Kapnek about a month ago. With the pickup, Selfie, along with Damaged Goods from Awkward creator Lauren Iungerich, joined the network’s list of 11 comedy pilots awaiting a series order in May.

Rashida Jones may be leaving Parks and Recreation soon, but she’s keeping ties to NBC. The network has ordered A to Z, a romantic comedy pilot that is set at an online dating company and chronicles the life of a relationship from introduction to destruction. Jones and her writing partner Will McCormack will serve as executive producers, while Ben Queen (Cars 2) will write the pilot and executive-produce as well.

The Peacock also given a thumbs-up to another single-camera comedy pilot, The Mason Twins, which will be written and executive produced by Happy Endings star Casey Wilson and Ntsf:sd:suv:: actress June Rafael.

The Hotwives of Orlando, that is. Paramount Digital Entertainment, the studio behind Burning Love, and Hulu are teaming up to produce the parody series starring Casey Wilson and Angela Kinsey. Comedian Paul Scheer likes to see himself as the Andy Cohen of it all, producing for Paramount with Jonathan Stern and even appearing on the show in a reunion episode. It’s no surprise to anyone who knows Scheer, who admits to being a diehard Housewife fan and watching the Bravo shows religiously with his wife.

"Ntsf:sd:suv::" is about to take viewers somewhere they've never been on the Adult Swim show: the United Kingdom. Well, they sort of do, anyway. The series' half-hour event episode, titled "U-ko'ed," was filmed in London despite the fact the episode is supposed to be set in San Diego's Little Britain.

The special two-part episode will have the San Diego-based National Terrorism Strike Force unit meet their Little Britain counterparts, the Socialist Terrorism Task Force: United Kingdom: Double Decker Bus (Sttf:uk:ddb::). The UK special spoofs the likes of "Sherlock" and "Luther," and memorably features British star Karen Gillan putting on her best Rhode Island accent (it's actually quite good).

Now that creator Paul Scheer convinced Adult Swim to ship him and his cast off to London for an episode that's supposed to be set in the United States, where does the cast want the show to go next? "To outer space.

Written by Scheer and produced by Sony Pictures TV and Will Gluck‘s studio-based Olive Bridge, the project centers on a couple trying to keep their relationship together while juggling the dynamics of multiple sets of parents, their spouses and their children. Scheer is executive producing with Olive Bridge’s Gluck and Richie Schwartz as well as former 30 Rock writer-producers Josh Siegal & Dylan Morgan who are under an overall deal at Sony TV. Another live action spoof series will soon be premiering on Adult Swim. Following in the footsteps of "Children's Hospital" and "Ntsf:sd:suv::," Paul Scheer sold a pilot to Adult Swim for a new show that parodies the likes of "Pretty Little Liars."

Three minions take a breather

On Friday, the convention kicked into full gear, with more people in attendance than the previous two days and the start of the big ticket programming in Hall H (The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones). Many of those following the TV programming at the Con opted for Ballroom 20, with Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. among the highlights. Once again, I opted for smaller rooms, starting with the Indigo Ballroom. Unfortunately, given the popularity of the programming that morning, including Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time (always a big hit at the Con) and the Adult Swim lineup, it took quite a while to get in to the room. On the plus side though, the line was a lot of fun, with a ridiculous number of creative, fun costumes (see the bottom of the post for more).

Just when you thought the war of words between the casts of Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital and Ntsf:sd:suv:: could not get any uglier, Paul Scheer and his comrades took the rivalry to a hilarious new low over the weekend at Comic-Con.

Not only did the Ntsf crew allege that their sister show experiments on real children, but they also accused them of undergoing “extensive” (and rather unorthodox) cosmetic procedures on their feet.

Ed Helms, Alia Shawkat, and Jack McBrayer are among the famous folks reporting for comedic duty in season 3 of Adult Swim’s Ntsf: Sd: SUV::. In one episode of the police procedural parody, the Hangover Part III star will reprise his role as Eddie, the shot-in-the-leg Hr rep who has now been transformed against his will into a Robocop, as you can see in the photo above. In another installment, Arrested Development’s Shawkat plays the long-lost daughter of Kove (Kate Mulgrew) who was abandoned by her mother because she was female. TNT’s King & Maxwell is turning into a family affair!

EW has learned exclusively that Jerry O’Connell is set to guest star on an episode of wife Rebecca Romijn’s show King & Maxwell, which premieres June 10 on TNT.

O’Connell, who recently appeared on Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane, will play a character named Waskiewicz, a low-rent D.C. Pi who tends to be a step behind on all his cases. (“I don’t ask questions” is literally on his business card.) The episode is set to air in mid-July.

Ben and Kate star Nat Faxon has found a new, incredibly understanding TV family.

The actor will play the lead in FX’s untitled comedy pilot from filmmaker Andrew Gurland, our sister site Deadline reports.

The potential series stars Faxon as a married man who is given permission by his wife to get a mistress in order to save their marriage.

Gurland — who penned the Last Exorcism movies — will write and direct the project. He’s also behind the Fox comedy pilot The Gabriels, starring Rob Riggle (Ntsf:sd:suv), Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live) and Angela Kinsey (The Office).

This morning the Atx Television Festival (June 6-9) revealed exclusively to EW the first wave of programming for its second annual celebration of television’s history and future. Four punch-drunk days of world premieres, unaired pilots, cast reunions, beloved special guests, and trips down the memory lane of Rider Strong’s luxurious bang swoop.

Former "Vampire Diaries" actress Malese Jow is coming back to The CW, joining the cast of the network's pilot "Oxygen."

Jow joins Aimee Teegarden and Titus Makin Jr. in the pilot, which is set in a world where aliens have made contact with Earth. It centers on a girl (Teegarden) who falls in love with one of the nine aliens who attend her high school. Jow will play a girl whose illness may have a chance of being cured thanks to the aliens.

In addition to "The Vampire Diaries," Jow has appeared on "Big Time Rush" and in "The Social Network."
