This short shows that a single simple idea can be great. There is no plot here in a film that could easily be an art installation as we have a simple shape constantly moving and changing in the middle of a single- color screen. The shape is changing so fast that as it is never really one thing as it is transitioning out into another thing just as quickly as it forms. These shapes are a range of things, most of which will be instantly recognizable even though we see them as a whole for barely a second. As it is an animation there are a lot of shapes that are cartoon related, so Spiderman, Betty Boop, Gromit, Droopy and many others come and go, but we also have art references and sexual imagery.
This occurs on a loop although it does mix it up a lot and it is really satisfying to have all the moment come from the core; although the characters and shapes are bigger or smaller, it never seems to leave dead-centre of the screen and I found this really engaging and visually satisfying to have it seem to exist around a point. The music is quite heavy in bass and it worked very well with the images, seemed to change and repeat with them in a strong partnership. It is a very simple idea but it is clever and very well executed and worth seeing.
