Quadrophenia (Criterion) Franc Roddam’s 1979 film based on The Who’s classic rock opera tells the story of working class lad Jimmy (Phil Daniels) struggling to find his identity in a rapidly changing Britain, circa 1965. Jimmy is a “mod,” a youth movement dedicated to wearing snappy suits, driving Vespa motor scooters bedecked with side mirrors, popping amphetamines and obsessed with the new sound of bands like The Who and The Kinks. Their other pastime is engaging in bloody brawls with “rockers,” throwbacks to the 1950s, who listen to Elvis and Gene Vincent, wear leather biker gear, grease in their hair and drive massive motorcycles a la Marlon Brando in “The Wild One.” Often cited as a worthy successor to “Rebel Without a Cause” as the greatest angry youth picture ever made, it is that and more, including a first cousin to the “kitchen sink” dramas of scribes John Osborne,...

After the train wreck of the YouTube round, I for one, was totally stoked to see which familiar faces would be vying for redemption during the America's Got TalentWild Card round.
Spencer Horsman
Horsman's steampunk set and the glass case that let us actually see what he was doing, was a huge improvement over his last performance. Howard Stern commented that the case, which steadily filled with concrete as Horsman worked toward his escape, added that "real sense of danger" that was missing in his previous escape.
Horse
Really, Howard? It was Stern's decision to invite the slapstick loving Horse back to the stage. Declaring "Cups are for cheaters!" Horse did more of what Horse does: get hit in the balls. Howie Mandel and I made the same look of disgust the entire time.
Lindsey Norton
There was nothing wrong with the lovely Lindsey's dance routine. It was flawlessly executed,...

"Crystal" delivered another stunning blow to the viewer rumor mill by turning the argument as to whether Faye or Melissa was John Blackwell's missing daughter on its head.
Well done, The Secret Circle! Before we get to the big reveal, let's chat about the rest of the episode, because much like its sister show, The Vampire Diaries, pulling punches isn't in the game plan.
Welcome Grandpa Royce
John DeLancie finally joined the cast as Jake's grandfather and in one five-minute speech we learned more about the witches' history than we have all season. His eloquence in telling the tale was mesmerizing. It was told so quickly and with such assurance I had to replay it three times to take it all in. It was fascinating to learn about the witches running from Salem and forming three circles, along with John's desire to turn a circle dark from within...

USA Network has made it official — drama pilots Over/Under and Wild Card will not be going forward. The pilots had been in limbo since they were screened by USA brass back in November. Over/Under, in particular, had strong supporters at USA, but its darker tones reportedly divided the network brass. The chances for both pilots got even dimmer when USA in January gave a straight-to-series, six-episode order to Greg Berlanti’s Political Animals, which will launch in the summer when USA would’ve premiered a newly picked-up drama. Wild Card, starring Jennifer Finnigan and Ben Lawson, and Over/Under, starring Steven Pasquale, were two of three drama pilots USA greenlighted back in November 2010. Last year, the network passed on the third pilot from that group, Eden. USA has two other pilots still in contention: an untitled drama from White Collar creator Jeff Eastin drama and a comedy starring Nathan Lane.

If it’s getting hot out by you this time of year, know that it’s nothing compared to the summer USA Network is having.
With White Collar as criminally good as ever, Covert Affairs and Burn Notice serving up irresistible spy games, and the new Suits fitting great on the schedule, the cabler is having a moment. But as USA co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber point out, it’s the aggregate nature of multiple moments like this that enable the network to trumpet “unprecedented” success and “historic” ratings weeks.

My psychic mind is telling me that Jennifer Finnigan will be guest starring in Psych Season 6. Actually I’m not psychic, just like Shawn Spencer (James Roday). TV Line reports Finnigan will be on the comedy-drama for the episode titled “Neal Simon’s Lovers Retreat”. She’ll be playing a con woman named Barbie looking to scam a spa resort. In a classic twist of fate, Shawn and Juliet just happen to spending some time at the exact same resort. What perfect timing.
Don’t think Barbie is by herself though. Jason Priestley (Brandon Walsh from Beverly Hills, 90210) will play her partner in crime, Clive. That’s right, Barbie and Clive. You’re not imagining it; it sounds just like Bonnie and Clyde. I’m 95 percent sure it was intentional. Let’s not dwell on it, ok? I’m curious, how do you scam a spa? I’m racking my...

Today's TV snacks include a return to TV for one person, a departure that's not as big as we thought and a new home for a new show. Enjoy:
The back-from-the-dead "Fear Factor" will return to NBC with its original host, Joe Rogan. Still no word on when the show will debut, but Rogan is happy to be back on board: "The idea of sitting at home and watching someone else host it would have driven me crazy," he says. [TV Guide]
Reports of Mariska Hargitay's absence from "Law & Order: Svu" this season were apparently exaggerated. She's still cutting back to spend more time with her family, and the show will still feature two new detectives in Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish, but an NBC spokesperson says Hargitay will still appear in every episode. Just not, perhaps, in almost every scene as she sometimes has in the past. [EW]

Jennifer Finnigan is leaving her monotonous Better With You married life in the past, in favor of some crazy Vegas antics as the star of Wild Card, a pilot for USA Network.
Per our sister site Deadline, Finnigan has landed the female lead in the procedural, which follows two Sin City lawyers as they solve the legal problems of its misbehaving inhabitants and visitors the morning after. The Deep End‘s Ben Lawson, who is currently recurring on Covert Affairs, co-stars as her legal counterpart.

Ben Lawson has landed one of the two coveted lead roles in the USA Network pilot Wild Card — a witty drama about people behaving badly in Las Vegas and the lawyers who solve their problems.
The Australian actor plays Will Garrett, a successful Wall Street attorney who could be living the American Dream but instead feels trapped in life. One night in Sin City, his life changes forever.
If greenlit to series, Wild Card would join USA’s powerhouse lineup of procedural dramas, an enviable home given the network’s strong track record for launching new shows.
