Featured in the film is Miroca Paris, who performed with Cesaria Evora for 11 years (since he was 19) as percussionist and backing vocalist. Cesária always wanted him to share his own music and talent in the world, to continue the legacy and share Cabo Verdean culture. Miroca has done exactly that, he performs worldwide at festivals and theaters with his own band. He recently toured with Madonna on her MadameX tour, where he played the opening act and many instruments in the 3 hour long show, adding his experience and valuable insight to the production.
In 2004 Cesária Évora won a Grammy in the category 'Best Contemporary World Music Album' with album 'Voz D'Amor'. It was her 9th album. She's received 6 Grammy nominations. The 'Barefoot Diva' from Cabo Verde s best know for her interpretation of the song 'Sodade'.
