Saturday Night Live returned over the weekend after a three-week hiatus and kicked off the new episode with a cold open that saw Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump getting naked and taking a shower with Paul Manafort (played by Alex Moffat).
The sketch primarily lampooned the recent federal indictments passed down by Robert Mueller against Manafort and others in Trump's presidential campaign over alleged Russian interference during the election.
However, the cold open didn't miss a chance to address the ever-growing scandal surrounding Harvey Weinstein.
As Baldwin's Trump met with Moffat's Manafort at his home, where he's currently under house arrest, the president demanded that they speak somewhere more private -- namely, Manafort's shower.

An Officer and a Gentleman, The Devil’s Advocate and Ray are just three of the movies in director Taylor Hackford’s illustrious career, although his one Oscar was for a short film he made much earlier in his career.
For Hackford’s latest movie, The Comedian, he directs Robert De Niro as Jackie Burke, a veteran comedian and star of a popular old TV sitcom, who is trying to find a new lease on life, which actually ends up with him being thrown in jail for assaulting a heckler. While doing community service, he meets Leslie Mann’s Harmony and he shares with her his love for stand-up, although her father (Harvey Keitel) doesn’t approve of the relationship.

The success or failure of a Vin Diesel movie is pretty easy to determine, as they often offer up their mission statement flat-out, often in a trailer-worthy soundbite. In the case of xXx: Return of Xander Cage, it is: "Kick some ass, get the girl, and try to look dope while you're do it."
The latest xXx installment also marks Diesel's titular return, having stepped away from the franchise after his first go-around in 2002. As for what happened in that one... you certainly don't need to know to follow this one. Cage, who can "walk into a tornado and come out the other side like it was a damn gentle breeze," has been lured back to the Nsa's super spy task force in order to stop an all-powerful McGuffin called Pandora's Box.

Last Week's Review: 'Outlander' Season 2 Episode 5, 'Untimely Resurrection': Betting It All on Black Jack That's What She Said "Bad things tend to happen when we're apart." It doesn't take a time traveling "witch" to deduce that one. Indeed, whenever Claire and Jamie have been separated — for whatever reason—bad things have inevitably followed. Saturday's episode was no exception. As though this season hasn't been tumultuous enough for the title characters (you know, setting into a new country, dealing with poisoning, attempted rape and a secret uprising), this week was a rough one for fans. Following up on his promise to not duel Randall, Jamie finally opened up to Claire about why he agreed to stay away from his enemy for another year: So that if anything were to happen to him, Claire could go back to Frank. Viewers who watched the Season 2 premiere know that Frank is indeed alive and well in the future,...

Nostalgia for "The Office"? Isn't that a little premature? (That's what she said!) After all, it's only been two years since the beloved sitcom ended its nine-season run. Still, it's clear that the Dunder-Mifflin alumni have, for the most part, flourished since the mockumentary series ended.
Case in point: "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," a new Netflix sitcom from "30 Rock" writers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock that debuts March 6, starring Ellie Kemper, still best known as wide-eyed Dunder-Mifflin receptionist Erin. Fey and Carlock created the comedy with Kemper in mind, casting her as a woman who's putting her life back together in New York City after having spent 15 years in a cult.
Of course, Kemper isn't the only one to have survived the cult phenomenon of "The Office" and gone on to exciting new projects. Here's what's become of your favorite TV white-collar workers since they closed up shop in Scranton.

Wilson passed away in her sleep last May at the age of 52, but before departing, she left West with this wisdom.

Warner Brothers will have one heck of a writedown on their hands with Jupiter Ascending. Among these class acts is a comic actress–turned–serious dramatist who's actually a reality veteran, a sharp-tongued supporting actor whose first recurring gig was on an Nsfw HBO series and a threepeat nominee who learned his craft from asking other Oscar go-to guys for their advice – over and over again.

Turns out, Steve Carell's famous Office catchphrase isn't the actor's favorite joke. But only because it's rarely used correctly. The 51-year-old funnyman made a name for himself by famously declaring "That's what she said" as Michael Scott on the NBC sitcom and during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday, Dec. 18, the actor was asked if fans often crack the joke around Carell. Unsurprisely, his answer was yes, although he then proceeded to school the audience in the art of "that's what she said." "Some people don't understand the structure of the joke," he explained. "And you'll say, 'Boy, I got out of a cab today,' and...

Deconstructing My Sexual Attraction to Steve Carell Something about Carell’s body language that makes it seem like he really would massage your breasts like they were bags of sand. by Diana Bruk We’ve all grown to love Steve Carell: with his goofy charm and his down-to-earth demeanor, he loves deeply without demanding anything in return. Unlike other Hollywood comedians, his is a humor that comes straight from the heart. Which is why it might be unnerving to catch him this summer playing a villainous moon-snatcher in Despicable Me 2 and an outright asshole in The Way, Way Back. To honor the (hopefully) brief absence of the beloved persona that he’s created, here are a few of the ways Steve Carell has sprayed us with his boundless love. That's what she said. 1. His Everyday Man Persona It seems like Steve Carell plays the same guy in almost...

Anyone who watches "Game of Thrones" is familiar with the guttural and foreign-sounding Dothraki language. But did you know that this is a "real" language, containing a vocabulary of about 3700 words?

The list of phrases we learn in the article is limited but rather entertaining. You can even listen to how each silly sentence sounds in the original article. To get you started, however, here are the translations.

A couple of weeks ago, we talked to the creator of the full Dothraki language for HBO's Game of Thrones, David J. Peterson, and it got us wondering about its practical applications. We know how effective Dothraki is when barking at someone in a medieval fantasyland; it sets the perfect tone for something like, "I will rape their women, take their children as slaves, and bring their broken gods back to Vaes Dothrak!" (Anha aqorisok chiories mori, vazzafrok yal mori, ma afichak vojjor samva Vaesaan Dothrak!) But how does it work when you're trying to quote pop culture? We issued Peterson a challenge: Translate eight famous catchphrases to see how they sound in Dothraki. Turns out "That's what she said" is a lot more menacing, and "I am the one who knocks" sounds a lot nerdier! See the translations of these and more, with audio files by Peterson to help...

The series finale of "The Office" had a lot of heavy lifting to do. For nine years, the audience had been getting to know and love this collection of characters -- even the ones that weren't that lovable -- and it couldn't really leave them in a bad place. Not too bad, anyway.
And, by the way, if it could find a way to work Michael Scott back in one last time despite repeated denials from all sides that Steve Carell wouldn't return, that would be Ok too.
Mission pretty well accomplished. "The Office" may have been well past its creative peak the past couple of seasons, even before Carell left, but arguments about when it "should" have ended are pretty much moot at this point. This final season, and in particular the past few episodes, have managed to recapture some of what made the show great, and Thursday's (May...

It's taken 20 years — sh'yeah! — but the shaggy-haired showboats of "Wayne's World," Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, have finally made nice and are now ready to party on.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Myers will at long last re-team with Carvey and director Penelope Spheeris for an excellent "Wayne's World" reunion panel in Hollywood on April 23.
Myers had made the early '90s diss list for Spheeris after getting the director canned from the "World" sequel gig because he didn't like her editing room decorum (in other words, he wanted to pitch in his two cents on the cut but got denied). He lost favor with former "Saturday Night Live" alum Carvey when "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" came along. Carvey thought Myers' Dr. Evil character reminded of a certain Lorne Michaels impersonation he'd coined, so he cried foul and the two fell out.

Television giveth and television taketh away. It gives us so many gifts in the form of couples we can champion and one-liners we can quote until we overuse them to death. That's what she said! But she probably didn't. But television can also take away our will to live. When we have to deal with uneven storytelling or plot devices that have long overstayed its welcome, TV becomes an awful place to visit. Thankfully, we have a delete button on our remotes that can banish that show from our DVRs forever. The question is: Which shows have you given up on enough to wipe them from your TiVo? Since we've had more than enough time to sample what freshman series have to offer and how well our returning shows have...

This week the designers have to create a ready-to-wear "wow" look while meeting a retail budget of $700 - $900. Their guest mentor and judge is Elie Tahari, who actually goes into the workroom with Joanna Coles to talk to the designers and assess their unfinished designs. It's the first time this season that the guest judge has entered the workroom, and I think it should happen more often, because it was one of the most affecting moments of the entire season. The designers learned his bootstrap backstory while receiving advice and encouragement about navigating the world of fashion.
The best moment of the show was when Anthony video chatted with close pal Matthew, who said he was giving up "Beer Night" at work to talk to him. But that's what best friends do for each other. And I'm glad My Sweet Anthony has someone to...

Carrie Preston is best known as Arlene Fowler on True Blood and Elsbeth Tascioni on The Good Wife, both wacky characters in their own right. But she's only making a cameo in her latest film, That's What She Said, which she directed. The comedy, now in limited release, is an adaptation of the play Girl Talk by Kellie Overbey (which Preston also directed) and features three very different women: an optimist looking forward to a prospective date (played by Marcia DeBonis), a cynic who no longer believes in love (Anne Heche), and a nymphomaniac who uses sex to feel better about everything (Alia Shawkat). In the case of the last, if a partner isn't readily available, she'll retire to the nearest public restroom or hop on a subway train, which has a vibrator effect on her. Preston chatted with Vulture about orgasms on the subway, women in Hollywood, and modern...

Move over Sinister, the Halloween heavy-hitter has arrived as Paranormal Activity 4 haunts theatres this weekend, continuing the well-established horror franchise with more found footage scares. However, it finds itself up against an unlikely opponent in Alex Cross, the crime thriller based on the best-selling book by James Patterson. Part of me thinks Alex Cross could bomb hard, but you never know how Tyler Perry's legions of fans will respond. In select theatres, we also have the Sundance hit The Sessions, which is already getting early Oscar buzz for John Hawkes, steampunk martial arts flick Tai Chi Zero, and the Anonymous documentary We Are Legion: The Story of the Hacktivists. Friendship has its privileges. And its drawbacks.
Both of these realities are on display in the indie comedy, That's What She Said, in wide release this week after a buzz-creating turn at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. The film, helmed by actress turned director Carrie Preston (29 and Gay) and adapted for the screen by Kellie Overbay from her original stage play, stars Anne Heche, Marcia DeBonis and Alia Shawkat as three, New York single ladies who stumble, crumble and find common ground with each other during a day and night of misadventure.
Of the trio, Bebe (Debonis) and Dee Dee (Heche) are fast friends despite their alphabetically ordered names and the polar opposition of their worldviews. Naturally, the biggest divide for this pair are their views on men and relationships. Bebe is the hopeless romantic, believing that she's found the man of her dreams after just a few phone calls and handful of dates.

With the summer blockbuster season firmly wound down, it's time for some of the smaller hitters to step into the spotlight. Three such films in the collection coming up are the cop thriller End of Watch starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, the road trip comedy That's What She Said with Alia Shawkat and Anne Heche, and For a Good Time Call, the raunchy buddy comedy starring Ari Graynor, Lauren Miller and Justin Long. End of Watch and That's What She Said have both just released new trailers, and For a Good Time, Call... has put a new clip online. For a Good Time, Call... hits theaters on August 31st, whereas End of Watch and That's What She Said are both about a month off.

Happy Birthday Steve Carell! The Office alum turns the big 5-0 today. Other celebrity celebrations seem to come and go, but because I myself am a University of Scranton graduate, I felt it necessary to list some of Michael Scott's best moments. Since his departure from Dunder Mifflin, the show hasn't been the same, but that doesn't mean we still don't spend endless hours watching Office footage on YouTube.
There's been way too many Michael moments throughout the years, but here's our favorites in order!

Zap2it: What kind of projects does your production company usually do?
Carrie Preston: We choose to do works that tell a story of people who might not get told in a wider, more "Hollywood studio" kind of system. I feel a lot of times that the films that are made specifically for the gay audience can be a little limiting. Maybe they are more explicit sexually, or they're things that you can't share with your family. We like to say that we make gay films you can take your mother to and women films with a "broad" appeal.
Zap2it: Is that why your recent film "That's What She Said" has an all-female cast?
Carrie Preston: There are so many "bromance" films that are all-male except for maybe one female that the main protagonist wants to have sex with. That's pretty much how women are represented in those films,...

If you still don't know who Carrie Preston is, you're just not trying. The busy actress currently has featured roles on three high-profile shows, including HBO's "True Blood," in which she plays outspoken Merlotte's waitress Arlene Fowler, the girlfriend of Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe).
"We have not seen the last of Patrick, played by Scott Foley, who came on at the very tail end of Season 4 and cast a shadow on Terry's past," she tells Zap2it. "We weren't sure whether he was going to be benevolent or malevolent or what his reason for being there was, but you could tell Terry definitely had mixed feelings about it. And this season is very much about Terry's past."
Preston garnered even more attention this past season when she reprised her recurring guest role as Elsbeth Tascioni, the kooky but brilliant attorney who saved Will's (Josh Charles) bacon in "The Good Wife.

In typical "True Blood" fashion, the first few episodes of Season 5 (premieres Sun., June 10 at 9 p.m. Et on HBO) are a mind-boggling mix of action, crazy twists and too many new characters to count. But our old Bon Temps standbys are still alive and kicking and getting into drama beyond the supernatural.
I caught up with Carrie Preston, who plays fan-favorite redhead Arlene, to hear more about the interesting turn things take this season with Arlene and her troubled hubby Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe), and she also talked about the other new man in her life: Terry's old war buddy Patrick, played by Scott Foley. But don't jump to any conclusions that it'll get romantic ...
"Yes, she's been married four times, but she's still traditional and a kind of stand-by-your-man Southern woman," Preston assured us.

When Carrie Preston isn't appearing on TV as troubled waitress Arlene on "True Blood" or attorney Elsbeth on "The Good Wife," she can be found stepping behind the camera and calling the shots. Her second feature film, "That's What She Said," premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and is hitting several festivals in April before Phase 4 releases the film in theaters and on VOD later in the year. Based on the play "Girl Talk," which she also directed, the play stars Anne Heche, Marcia DeBonis, and Alia Shawkat as three women on comic (and often crass) misadventures throughout New York City.Up next for Preston is another season of "True Blood," premiering in June, and a comedy webseries she is co-directing, writing, producing, and starring in called "The Dody Show" about a woman who discovers her husband is cheating on her when he releases a sex tape. SXSW has been underway for just short of a week now, and distribution deals have been struck for a couple of the films playing Austin. But to get things started, let's rewind to Sundance.
Phase 4 Films has acquired the U.S/Canadian distribution rights to "That's What She Said," Carrie Preston's comedy starring Anne Heche, Marcia DeBonis ("Whatever Works") and Alia Shawkat ("Arrested Development"). It's not the best news for anyone who saw the film's premiere at Sundance and loved it, because although it has secured distribution, it will be a fairly low-key affair with a day-and-date release in theaters and on VOD later this year. The movie follows best friends (Heche and De Bonis) -- one looking for love, another just coming out of a relationship -- who cross paths with a neurotic New Yorker (Shawkat). Phase 4 Films has acquired North American rights to the Sundance Next title "That's What She Said," starring Anne Heche and directed by Carrie Preston. It's the story of two best friends -- one who's trying to move on from a relationship, the other starting a new romance. They meet a third woman with her own love issues and a series of New York misadventures begins. As Preston told Indiewire before Sundance began, "'That's What She Said' is a chick flick that’s not for pussies. It is an unflinching answer to the ubiquitous bro-mance, so I guess you could call it a wo-mance." Producers are Lucy Barzun Donnelly, Joshua Astrachan, Mona Panchal and Preston. Executive producers are Mark Holmes and James Vasquez. Submarine Films repped the title in the sale.

Carrie Preston is best known as the ditzy-and-frustrated waitress Arlene Fowler on "True Blood" (and lately, as the ditzy-but-brilliant lawyer Elsbeth Tascioni on "The Good Wife"), but this year at Sundance, she'll be known as a film director for "That's What She Said," her sophomore feature effort behind the camera. Based on a play by Kellie Overbey that Preston previously directed a production of in New York, "That's What She Said" stars Anne Heche and Marcia De Bonis as best friends Dee Dee and Bebe, and Alia Shawkat as Clementine, a stranger who then joins them on a series of adventures throughout New York. (Heche actually recommended Shawkat for the role after their stint together in "Cedar Rapids," -- "...which surprised me, because we had no scenes together in that," said Shawkat while doing promotion for the Ed Helms comedy.) "BeBe is getting ready to go on a big date with a guy she really.

Cedar Rapids co-stars Anne Heche and Alia Shawkat reunite for the wacky sex comedy That's What She Said. Set in Manhattan, the sophomore directorial effort of redheaded character actress Carrie Preston, best-known as Arlene on True Blood, centers on three single women who bond over their romantic failures and sexual misadventures. Heche heads the cast as a chain-smoking cynic, whose lost faith in romance and men; Marcia DeBonis (13 Going on 30) plays her best friend, a hopeless romantic with no luck in love. And the trio is completed by Shawkat, best remembered as Maeby Fünke of Arrested Development, who portrays a nymphomaniac with major boundary issues. The trailer below, courtesy of THR, displays a frantic energy, some regrettable fashion choices, a peppy pop song, and lots and lots of girl talk. In the wake of Bridesmaids' massive, worldwide success, there's sure to be a wave of female-fronted comedies hoping to ...
