Not cool guys. But you know what? Blake Lively quickly brushed it off as smoothly as BTS singing ‘Butter.’

There have been a lot of "Transformers" cartoons since 1984. Most of them (and I say this as a fan) are pretty unimpressive. One of the best ones is "Transformers: Animated," which aired from 2007 to 2009 on Cartoon Network. Network executive Sam Register created the series like it was "Teen Titans" with robots. Register even recruited one of that show's character designers, the late Derrick J. Wyatt, resulting in a similar art style.
"Animated" broke away from past series' tenets, transforming them you might say — the show's team even cast Megatron voice actor extraordinaire David Kaye as Optimus Prime instead. The series was explicitly pitched as "more like a superhero show than a 'Transformers' show" (read the original production bible here for many tantalizing insights and scrapped ideas). The Autobots each had unique powers and faced off against human villains; against the Decepticons, they were definite underdogs.

The following post contains spoilers for "Loki" season 1.
We've finally gotten the trailer for "Loki" season 2, and I don't know about you, but I'm most excited to see Miss Minutes again. I mean, yeah, Tom Hiddleston is a brilliant actor and very attractive and all that, but there is just something so sinister about the mascot of the Time Variance Authority (Tva). I cannot get enough of her honey-sweet voice saying some pretty terrifying things. Prolific voiceover actor Tara Strong just blew viewers away with her performance. It's incredibly chilling to see her explain the Multiversal War and sound so ... cheery as she tells variants that they pretty much suck and are going to be destroyed.
At the end of season 1, Miss Minutes was revealed to be more than just a mascot, but instead was working very closely with a variant of Kang (Jonathan Majors). In fact, she may end...

New releases get the marketing momentum and media buzz. But older titles that stand the test of time, often called “legacy” shows, can be exceptionally valuable in the streaming era. Thanks to their rewatchability and appeal to different generations, these shows can be key to convincing audiences to stay subscribed.
We’re defining “legacy” shows as one that had its first season before 2012, ended before 2020 and continues to generate strong demand according to Parrot Analytics‘ data, which takes into account consumer research, streaming, downloads and social media, among other engagement.
By that measure, the most in-demand legacy show in the U.S. is “Game of Thrones,” with 80.6 times more demand than the average show in the last quarter of 2022. The show, which ran from 2011 to 2019, is still one of the most successful shows in television history. It received a boost in attention this year from the long-awaited release of its prequel “House of the Dragon.

"My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" ran from 2010 to 2019, and famously spawned a group of passionate adult fans who dubbed themselves Bronies. During its nine-year run, the show and its spinoff movies remained popular mainstays of children's entertainment.
Based on a line of Hasbro toys from 1983, the original "My Little Pony" cartoon show was little more than a 30-minute toy commercial, one of many of the era. Despite this, the show became incredibly well-liked by a generation of kids, and the "My Little Pony" shows and toys have continued to be part of the pop consciousness ever since. The original toy line was designed by illustrator Bonnie Zacherle, who also designed the Nurfuls toys in 1985. Incidentally, Bonnie was the niece of legendary horror host John Zacherle.
When "Friendship is Magic" was released in 2010, the ponies themselves were drastically redesigned to have a friendlier, wider-eyed appearance, and the writing on the show just as drastically improved.

John Cena wasn’t playing Cupid in the season finale of Peacemaker when he took a shot at Arrow.
Thursday’s season finale of the HBO series had a line that crossed over the super hero line. The Peacemaker said Green Arrow “goes to Brony conventions dressed as the back half of Twilight Sparkle with a four-inch-wide butthole drilled in the costume.”
For the uninitiated, a Brony is a male fan of the television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Princess Twilight Sparkle is a horse. A butthole is…well, you know.
The off-color jab was relayed to actor Stephen Amell, who plays the Green Arrow in the now-canceled DC series. Amell now stars as a wrestler on the Starz series Heels.
Amell claimed he hadn’t seen the Peacemaker show in question. However, returning the favor, he dissed actor Cena’s WWE past in a tweet.

Chinese video streaming firm iQiyi has teamed with Canada’s Wildbrain to jointly produce kids’ animation series “Jonny Jetboy.” The series was hatched by Keith Chapman, creator of “Paw Patrol” and “Bob The Builder” and will run to an initial forty 11-minute episodes.
The story follows Jonny Jones, the youngest member of a family of heroes as he learns to become a superhero like his JetForce family. They are committed to protecting the high-tech city Calamity Canyon, from its many villains. Jonny wields a JetGlove and is the fastest member of the force, but often he struggles to control his special powers.
The deal marks first global partnership for original China IP struck by WildBrain’s dedicated Shanghai team. Now under way, production is taking place at China’s WingSing Animation Studio with WildBrain acting as supervisor. Delivery is scheduled for 2023.
The Canadian company is also handling global distribution and licensing outside of Greater China.

The clock is ticking on a number of noteworthy titles leaving Netflix this month.
Below, we’ve assembled a complete list of everything leaving Netflix in January 2022, and it includes quite a few films you may want to prioritize on your watchlist. Leaving Jan. 6 is “The Green Knight” filmmaker David Lowery’s quietly mesmerizing drama “A Ghost Story” starring Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara. Also leaving on Jan. 6 is Illumination Entertainment’s animated retelling of “The Lorax,” while Jan. 5 marks the exit date of all five seasons of the Matt LeBlanc comedy series “Episodes.”
But the highest profile departure this month is all five films in the “Twilight” franchise, which are due to leave the streaming service on Jan. 15.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for other films to check out before they depart, the Wachowskis’ epic “Cloud Atlas” and Martin Scorsese’s Leonardo DiCaprio-fronted psychological thriller “Shutter Island” both leave Jan.

Hasbro’s My Little Pony has gone through quite a few different overhauls since the popular plaything’s initial creation in the 1980s. Not only have the toys themselves changed, morphing from a traditional cutesy cartoon style to a pushed anime-inspired appearance, but so have each of the films and televised series, progressively modernizing their aesthetics and storytelling. The franchise hit an all-time high when the “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” era began in 2010, ushering in a new congregation of die-hard fans — not just young girls, but also “Bronies,” the affectionate nickname given to the passionate (some to the point of toxic) adult male fanbase.

It is a sad reflection of the times we live in that mass shootings in the United States tend to follow a specific pattern. In the hours after a shooting, reporters tend to comb through the shooter’s social media presence, usually revealing a lengthy history of anonymous message-board postings and far-right indoctrination. Following the April 15th attack on the FedEx ground facility in Indianapolis, which resulted in the deaths of nine people including the gunman, there was a slight variation on this pattern: The 19-year-old gunman was revealed to...

When John de Lancie was first cast as Q on the pilot of “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” his expectation was that he was only supposed to play the wily omnipotent being — who challenges Capt. Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) with proving humanity’s worthiness — for that single, two-part episode. But three days into shooting, “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry took de Lancie aside.
“He said to me, ‘You have no idea what you’ve gotten yourself into,'” de Lancie says. “And oh my god, was he right.”
De Lancie reprised his performance as Q on seven more episodes of “Tng,” including the series finale, when Q promised he would visit Picard again “from time to time.” Despite appearances as Q on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Star Trek: Voyager” (as well as a brief cameo on the animated series “Star Trek: Lower Decks”), however, Q never did drop...

On Aug. 5, Comedy Central announced a reboot to the classic 1991 cartoon The Ren & Stimpy Show. The show’s initial airing, as one of the three original Nicktoons (alongside Doug and Rugrats), was a milestone in cartoon television history, with its purposely crude yet dynamic visuals and heavily exaggerated animation and aesthetics. It also had a deeply complicated run. Ren & Stimpy was controversial both in public and behind the scenes and its sordid history includes creator John Kricfalusi’s inability to complete episodes on time, episodes Nick edited down or refused to air, and the criticisms of the show’s most disturbing aspects. Nevertheless the show was able to cement itself with a passionate, dedicated cult following.
That sordid history, however, reached an impassable point in 2018 when Buzzfeed reported a grotesque expose on Kricfalusi, and his grooming and dating of a 16-year-old girl during the show’s production. Before this point,...

Britain’s competition watchdog will investigate Hasbro’s $4 billion takeover of Entertainment One.
The Competition and Markets Authority said Thursday that it would examine whether the intended acquisition of eOne would result in a “substantial lessening of competition” under U.K. rules. The Cma was deeply involved in scrutinizing the sale of Sky, which was ultimately bought by Comcast at an unusual auction.
Toy giant Hasbro announced a surprise $4 billion all-cash deal for film and TV studio eOne in August. As well as movie and drama production and distribution, eOne owns the smash-hit kids’ property Peppa Pig.
When it announced the deal, Hasbro said that “the acquisition of eOne adds beloved story-led global family brands that deliver strong operating returns to Hasbro’s portfolio and provides a pipeline of new brand creation driven by family-oriented storytelling, which will now include Hasbro’s IP.”
The Cma set out a timetable for its investigation.

When 2019 began, we knew that at least 23 beloved shows would soon be leaving us. Three months later, that number has jumped to 40. Math!
So, which shows have joined the ranks of The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones and Jane the Virgin? Well, thanks to Netflix and Marvel’s semi-conscious uncoupling, we’ve added a pair of superhero series to our list. (R.I.P., Jessica Jones and The Punisher!) And we didn’t forget about all you Bronies out there — we’re pouring one out for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, too. (Hey, nine seasons is nothing to shake a horn at!

When the folks behind Disney Junior’s reboot of “Muppet Babies” were asked to build the new show, they wanted not only to introduce a new generation to the wonders that are the Muppets, but to tell meaningful stories that beyond what many shows for preschoolers feature.
“When Disney talked to me about the show, I said ‘What are you looking for? A show about numbers or “Today’s color is blue?” Ep Tom Warburton explained. “They said they didn’t want that. They wanted entertainment with a good moral center that was funny and that would be enjoyed by both preschoolers and their parents.”
They are on the right track. An episode of the show has been nominated for a prestigious Humanitas Prize, a recognition that honors writers “whose work inspires compassion, hope and understanding in the human family.”

Rick and Morty have gone on some of the wildest and craziest interdimensional adventures, and it looks like one of those untold stories has taken them to the Land of Ponies as ponies themselves!
As you can see in the screenshot above thanks to io9, pony versions of Rick and Morty made a very brief cameo in the latest episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. It would have been hilarious to follow their story! Here's a description of the scene that leads up to the two characters showing up:
About halfway through watching 'Grannies Gone Wild,' we see Rainbow Dash rushing to get in line for this super-awesome roller coaster that she just has to try (because ponies be ponies).
It's at that point that we see Rick and Morty waiting in line. Morty is looking very worried, while Rick just looks absolutely determined. It's funny that...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What’s the best depiction of friendship you’ve seen on TV? (Past and current shows are fair game).
Tim Surette (@timsurette), TV.com
Good friends are hard to find, especially on television where character relationships require non-stop drama to keep things interesting. But you know what’s more interesting? TV friends who don’t have much drama at all! That immediately rules out the so-called “friends” from college on Netflix’s “Friends from College,” and though the “Friends” friends were pretty good friends, I’ll look at a different NBC comedy for my favorite friendship: “Community’s” Troy and Abed. These two dorks overcame huge...

Here's our review of the My Little Pony movie, that's now in UK cinemas...
To describe My Little Pony: The Movie as anything other than a sensory overload would be a severe injustice. Combining every single colour humanly possible, it is an incessant upbeat bravado that would make Disney feel uneasy. My Little Pony: The Movie is a discombobulating 89-minute feature that leads to a near fatal saccharine overdose once its musically vibrant credits finally roll. Currently in their 'fourth generation', Hasbro’s candy coloured ponies have trotted into cinemas, just in time to save youngsters from half term boredom.
The colourful equestrian franchise has radically evolved since its initial release way back in the 1980s. Fast forward nearly 40 years and this worldwide phenomenon has spawned countless arrays of merchandise, several TV incarnations and now a big-shot feature film. Are the kids in your life too young to see “Wonder Woman”? No worries: now they’ve got Twilight Sparkle Princess Pony, instead. Yes, “My Little Pony: The Movie,” like its television predecessor, is all dressed up in bubbles and cupcakes and rainbows. But it’s so jam-packed with rousing girl power, it passes the Bechdel Test with (literally) flying colors. As fans already know, the animated TV series, “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic,” is no mere toy-seller. Granted, this movie may send the ponies back to the top of holiday wish lists, but at least these are characters worth wishing for,...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Twin Peaks: The Return” Episode 14, “Part 14.”]
“Twin Peaks” dropped a major hint on Sunday about the origins of Dougie, the man whom Evil Cooper/Mr. C created as a decoy, and whose life Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) took over upon his return to the real world.
While it seemed apparent that Evil Cooper made the fake version of himself to act as a replacement who would be called back to the Black Lodge in his place, it wasn’t clear what exactly Dougie was or how he came to be. A scene in “Part 14” between Albert (Miguel Ferrer) and Tammy (Chrysta Bell) sheds light on the man who was Dougie.
