TV giant Fremantle has acquired the worldwide rights to “Penelope,” the coming-of-age indie drama produced by Duplass Brothers Productions

Created by Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn, the 8-part series premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and is set to launch on Netflix in the U.S. on Sep. 24.

The series follows Penelope, played by Megan Stott, a 16-year-old who feels out of place in modern society and is drawn into the unknown wilderness, where she begins to form a new life for herself in a National Forest.

Alongside Stott, the cast also includes Austin Abrams, Krisha Fairchild and Rhenzy Feliz.

Brad Pitt and George Clooney are two lone-wolf fixers who are forced to work together after they’re tasked with the same assignment in Jon Watts’ upcoming action comedy “Wolfs,” in theaters Sept. 20 via Sony.

As Clooney puts on gloves to cover up what looks like a grisly murder, he assures a woman, “There’s nobody who can do who I do.” Seconds later, Pitt walks in wearing a similar outfit, already gloved.

In addition to Pitt and Clooney, the cast also includes Austin Abrams, Amy Ryan and Poorna Jagannathan.

Pitt and Clooney also serve as producers on the film for their respective Plan B Productions and Smokehouse Pictures banners. Apple is the third studio, having won a bidding war against Sony, Lionsgate and Netflix for the movie package. Sony Pictures Releasing is distributing the film.

The Comedy Central series has signed up three new correspondents to its news team: Troy Iwata, Josh Johnson, Grace Kuhlenschmidt.

They are the first new correspondents to join the show in six years, since the arrival of Jaboukie Young-White, who joined in 2018 and left in 2021. The last new correspondent still on the show was Dulcé Sloan, who joined in September 2017 (Jordan Klepper returned in December 2019 having previously been featured on the show).

Iwata and Kuhlenschmidt joined the show in October 2023 and Johnson, who was previously a writer on the show, made his on-screen debut in February. The move to official correspondents just happened, despite being on the show for a few months.

The “One Piece” live-action series at Netflix is bringing in Joe Tracz to serve as its new co-showrunner for Season 2.

Tracz will helm the popular series based on the Eiichiro Oda manga of the same name alongside Season 1 co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer Matt Owens. Steven Maeda, who developed the series with Owens and was co-showrunner on Season 1, will step down but continue to serve as an executive producer on the series.

“Joe has brought a wealth of enthusiasm and experience into our second season that will help take ‘One Piece’ to new heights,” Owens said. “We’re incredibly lucky to have him as a co-captain of this ship. The best crew on the seas grows larger!”

Tracz most recently worked as a writer and co-executive producer on the Disney+ series adaptation of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” He previously created the Netflix series “Dash & Lily” in addition to serving as showrunner.

It marked the first time that the show had two hosts behind the desk, a strategy that has been proposed as a new format going forward.

Prime Video today shared the first-look image of Emma Roberts in the new original romcom Space Cadet.

Directed by Liz W. Garcia (The Lifeguard) from her own original screenplay, the film follows Florida party girl Rex (Roberts), who turns out to be the only hope for the NASA space program after a fluke puts her in training with other candidates who may have better resumes, but don’t have her smarts, heart, and nerve, the synopsis reads.

While speaking with The Nerds of Color in February, Abrams shared his hopes for the upcoming season. "Yeah, I got no idea. I don't know what is happening or going on," he said of season three. "I mean, I think [season two] for him has been a cool change and awakening. I feel like he's just becoming more of an adult now, just having more of a backbone and standing up for himself, which I think is super cool. But yeah, I got no idea. Maya Hawke, Camila Mendes, a Bougie with a capital B high school and two thirsts for vengeance complete the recipe for Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s latest film, “Do Revenge.”

Based broadly on Alfred Hitchcock’s “Strangers on a Train” (1951), “Do Revenge” sets a similar switched “getting back at” story in a younger scenario: the elite Rosehill Country Day high school full of entitled and wealthy students. If the story or cast doesn’t sound appealing, maybe the soundtrack will.

Now, nearly two decades later, Meredith (played by Ellen Pompeo) is seen greeting the new batch of surgical residents in a teaser for the upcoming 19th season of “Grey’s Anatomy”.

Grey's Anatomy's already stacked cast is expanding, leading to many questions about what Grey's Anatomy Season 19 could look like after that gnarly conclusion to Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

Per TV Line, the newest addition to the cast is Midori Francis, who is best known for Netflix's one-and-done Dash & Lily, as well as HBO Max's hilarious comedy Sex Lives of College Girls.

Francis will play Mika Yasuda, a first-year surgical resident.

“Grey’s” has also added Freeform breakout Niko Terho and “Inventing Anna” alum Alexis Floyd as series regulars. The trio will each play new residents at Grey Sloan, though their trajectory is unclear since Season 18 of the long-running drama series ended with Grey Sloan losing its surgical residency accreditation.

The Sex Lives of College Girls star Midori Francis has been cast as a new medical resident in the upcoming 19th season of ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. She is the third new addition for next season, joining recently cast Alexis Floyd and Niko Terho. All three play first-year surgical residents at Grey Sloan, which was ordered to disband and rebuild from scratch its teaching program in the Season 18 finale.

The polls are officially open for the 2022 Primetime Emmys, but voters will notice a somewhat glaring omission when they begin to fill out their ballots: Netflix’s acclaimed charmer Heartstopper is Mia.

A Netflix rep tells TVLine that the decision was made to submit the rookie dramedy in the newly-created Children’s & Family Emmys, which is slated to launch later this year after having previously been folded into the Daytime Emmys ceremony. It’s there that Heartstopper will be submitted in all Young Teen categories.

“Heartstopper” fans might have actual heart attacks on Thursday, June 16, when Primetime Emmy voting starts with the Netflix sleeper hit absent from the ballots. Trebek, who lost his battle against pancreatic cancer in November, won in the Outstanding Game Show Host category beating out Steve Harvey, Pat Sajak, Wayne Brady, and Alfonso Ribeiro.

King was recognized as the winner in the Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host category nearly six months after his death due to sepsis, end-stage renal failure, and acute hypoxemic respiratory failure. He competed against Tamron Hall; Red Table Talk hosts Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris; Red Table Talk: The Estefans hosts Gloria Estefan, Emily Estefan, and Lili Estefan; and GMA 3 hosts Amy Robach, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, and Tj Holmes.

Both Tran and Jodi Long made history with their respective wins.
