Returning for its seventh edition this year, the 2024 Rockaway Film Festival kicks off next weekend, taking place August 17-25 and featuring a rich lineup of cinematic and artistic events. Highlights include Zia Anger’s My First Film, featuring a Q&a with star Odessa Young and post-screening DJ set by Andrew Vanwyngarden of Mgmt; the East Coast premiere of Ed Lachman’s new restoration of Report From Hollywood, his account on the set of Wim Wenders’ The State of Things, featuring a Q&a with Lachman and Sean Price Williams; a 50th anniversary screening of Wenders’ Alice in the Cities; a rare screening of Agnes Martin’s Gabriel with a live score; and much more. Crunchyroll announced on June 25, 2024, that they will start streaming the English dub of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc on the platform from June 30, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. Pt, with episodes releasing weekly.

It was previously revealed that the ongoing season will end with episode number 8, and will be the shortest season in the anime series in terms of episode count.

Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc started airing on May 12, 2024, with a one hour long special episode.

Amazon MGM Studios is adapting Don Winslow’s novella Crime 101. Mark Ruffalo is reportedly in talks to play the lead role. He is set to co-star with Chris Hemsworth and negotiate to star and produce alongside Ben Grayson, his producing partner.

The film will be directed by Bart Layton, who collaborated with Peter Straughan to develop the screenplay. Layton is famously known for his work as a director and writer of the 2018 heist movie American Animals, which starred Evan Peters, Barry Keoghan, and Ann Dowd. Pedro Pascal was supposed to star in the film alongside Hemsworth last year, but although he was on board, things did not move forward.

Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan, Raw’s Layton and Dimitri Doganis, and Derrin Schlesinger and Shane Salerno all serve as producers. Joely Fisher executive produces for Raw.
