The post-credit sequence is the longest for any film at the time of completion. 'The Hermit' clocks in with a run time of 16:40 and tells the story of the hermit of the Great Dismal Swamp.
The hermit speaks to Jefferson, "that thing is more dangerous than a pack of wolves..." was added in filming to pay homage to North Carolina State University who call themselves the 'Wolfpack.' Both William English who plays the hermit, and William Howard, the director/producer, are alumni of the university.
During filming scenes in the swamp/river area, director William Howard had multiple tick bites which had to be treated. Despite five days of filming in the area, Howard was the only one to get a tick on him.
