Zayn stopped by The Tonight Show to showcase his recent song, “Alienated.” The appearance marked the musician’s first television performance in eight years and saw Zayn singing to an empty theater alongside his live band, rather than in the late-night show’s New York studio.
“Alienated” comes off Zayn’s new LP, Room Under the Stairs, which dropped last week. The musician previously released a live performance video of the track shot in a recording studio to preview the album, revealing the LP’s acoustic vibe.

Love them or hate them, you cannot deny that One Direction allowed their sound to evolve. Zayn Malik’s upcoming album Room Under the Stairs is going to be a big shift in sound for the former One Direction star. He explained why he wanted to go country with this new outing. In addition, Malik named a modern country singer whom he deeply admired.
1 singer inspired Zayn Malik’s ‘Room Under the Stairs’
First, some background, One Direction was initially a pop-rock band that sounded like “I Want to Hold Your Hand”-era Beatles having a sugar high. As time went on, they were swept into the 2010s folk revival, while also dabbling in other genres like rock and reggae fusion.
After leaving the group, Malik embraced R&b. His most famous post-One Direction songs were “Pillowtalk” and the Taylor Swift duet “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” both songs were sensual and contemporary.

A little over a month from releasing his fourth studio album, Room Under the Stairs, Zayn released introspective new single “Alienated.”

Backed by a simple beat, Zayn declares in the chorus: “I’ve been feeling alienated on my spaceship alone/Say goodbye to the past/Leave it all with a laugh.”

"This season is getting more and more twisted, and going in darker and darker places," Brochere promises. "It'll be a pleasure to talk to everyone once we're allowed to actually say everything."
Until then, Brochere participated in a conference call to discuss what's been revealed so far about her character, Grace, and one little spoiler about where she's headed next. (Be sure to stop reading after she discusses Evan Peters if you don't want to know any details at all.)
On preparing to play Grace and how she relates to the character...

Departing EastEnders star Marc Elliott has explained that he left the show to avoid becoming typecast. The actor, who has played Syed Masood since 2009, will be making his on-screen exit in November before starring in a West End play. Elliott is quoted by The Sun as saying: "I didn't want to be remembered as that lad from EastEnders, the gay Muslim. That's why you get into the business, to find new characters." Reflecting on his time on the show, Elliott added: "Playing Syed meant I've had loads of letters from people of all religions coming to terms with their sexuality. "That's what I am proud of most, portraying a normal, (more)...

The upcoming reboot "The Amazing Spider-Man" is a prime example of the pressure filmmakers and studios are under to deliver the best adaptation possible. Anyone who's familiar with comic book movies and the corresponding hoopla that surrounds them is more than accustomed to the demands of their fervent fan communities. If that movie is good, it wins support for life. If it's bad, fans have various ways of expressing their disappointment and are not afraid to do so.
Perhaps no one is feeling that pressure at the moment more than the movie's star himself, Andrew Garfield.

In "Inside Out," five-time WWE World Champion wrestler Paul "Triple H" Levesque is getting serious in a drama with nary a bodyslam or piledriver in sight. It's the story of a man named Aj who leaves prison after 13 years to find his old flame Claire (Parker Posey) now married to his best friend Jack (Michael Rapaport). When Jack screws things up with mobster Dr. Vic (Bruce Dern), it's up to Aj to set things right.
It's an interesting departure for Mr. H, who shows off some genuine acting chops in the Sept. 9 release. We talked to this king of the ring about working with a great cast, his acting career and living the gimmick.
From the plot and poster for "Inside Out" one would expect a more Charles Bronson-y experience, so it was surprising how character-oriented the movie is. Were you trying to push away from the stereotypical "dude with a gun" thing?...

Los Angeles (Reuters) - Randee Heller is walking the Emmy red carpet for the first time this year, but hoping that her many fans -- some of whom created a Facebook page in her honor -- won't recognize her.
That's because the "Mad Men" actress is nominated for her guest role in the 1960s TV drama as the cantankerous, racist, octogenarian secretary Miss Blankenship -- a character that added 20 years and hours of make-up to Heller's real self.
Heller, 64, talked and laughed with Reuters ahead of the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony on Saturday about the brief life (and hilarious death) of Miss Blankenship, and how 10 years ago she almost gave up working as an actress.
Q; What were you told about the character of Miss Blankenship when you were first cast on Season 4 of "Mad Men"?

Hey, Anna, do you confuse Phil Collins and Peter Frampton a lot? Yes. Yes, I do. And now both Collins and Frampton been married and divorced thrice, which makes it even more confusing. :(
Rule of threes be damned; "Show Me The Way" singer Peter Frampton, 61, previously of the long, golden locks that drove ladies (like Mama Breslaw) wild, is divorcing his third wife Christina. They were married for 15 years. Once a cheater, always a cheater, sez I. The divorce papers cite "irreconcilable differences," like loving someone when they don't love you anymore!

"World War Z" is on mission of grabbing more supporting actors. According to Deadline, Matthew Fox and Ed Harris are tapped to join Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale.
Fox will allegedly take the role of "Parajumper", while Harris' role is currently unknown. "World War Z" will also see Pitt portraying a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission. Enos will play Pitt's wife, and Dale will star as Captain Speke.
Production of the movie is scheduled to start this month and take place in Malta, London and other places overseas. This comedy action movie, which has Marc Forster serve behind the lens, will hit U.S. cinemas in 2012.

Just a few days back, it came out that James Badge Dale (The Pacific, 24, The Departed) had joined the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of the Max Brooks novel, 'World War Z.' He's to play an American soldier who's trying to warn the proper authorities of the zombie uprising. Today, Bloody Disgusting has learned of two new additions to the cast: Ed Harris and Matthew Fox. Harris' role hasn't been detailed, but it could be just about anyone as the veteran actor has taken on a multitude of roles in such films as 'The Abyss,' 'A History of Violence,' 'National Treasure: Book of Secrets,' and more recently, 'That's What I Am.'Fox's role is that of a parajumper, members of the United States Air Force. The actor is likely best known for his long-running role in the television series, 'Lost.'...

A film produced by WWE that's got nothing to do with wrestling, That's What I Am stars Ed Harris. But is it any good?
Newsflash: bullying is wrong, and the 1960s were a time of rosy-tinted wonder. If either of these seem revelatory, then That's What I Am may be for you. If not, don't bother.
Written and directed by Michael Pavone and produced by the WWE Studios production company, That's What I Am isn't a wrestling spectacle. Instead, it's a dumb, blithely simple drama that is all moral and no content.
Andy (Chase Ellison) is a kid on the verge of teenhood who is assigned a collaborative piece of schoolwork with Big G (Alexander Walters), a loner who happens to be tall, supposedly ugly, and, horror of horrors, ginger. At first, Andy is anxious, as every social capital-conscious boy in an American school movie is, to be paired with such an unpopular classmate,...

Summary: Like watching your parents make out.
That's What I Am is a movie that dares you not to like it. I bravely accept. It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it. The ideal audience member for this film is someone who simply has never seen a film before. If that person is you, by all means, dig in. For the rest of us, this unyieldingly saccharine coming-of-age romp is packed to the brim with all too familiar characters -- the inspiring teacher who might be gay (Ed Harris), the awkward misunderstood outcast (Alexander Walters), the dream girl (Mia Rose Frampton... yes, that Frampton), and my personal favorite, the Bully Family, where all the rotten apples don't fall far from the rotten tree.

Hey, you! Did you know that WWE isn't just in the wrestling business anymore? They also make films, like the upcoming That's What I Am. But unlike previous releases that place your favorite violent male soap opera stars front and center, this new flick has enlisted respected thespian Ed Harris to its cause.
Filling the wrestler quota for this WWE Studios release will be third generation grappler Randy Orton. The film is largely set in a junior high school, so given the size diferences between the Viper and his costars, we probably won't be seeing any RKOs, but we're hoping that Orton will put at least a couple 8th graders out of commission with some well-placed punts. Fingers crossed.
Randy Orton in an earlier, stranger cut of the film.

Buried in this profile about how Paul Marcarelli (Verizon Wireless’ “Can You Hear Me Now?” guy) had his entire life controlled by the company who needed him to maintain his image is the little note that he got the job while living in a one bedroom apartment with his boyfriend. Which in retrospect, didn’t surprise me.
I don’t really have an opinion on Rebecca Black’s “Friday” – it was just pop music that made no impression on me. I know others had some strong feelings, so they may want to skip the prom episode of Glee.
I used to run episodes of The Annoying Orange in the early days of Meme. In all honesty, they made Gilbert Gottfreid seem pleasant. Now it’s going to be an animated series on television.

Poor Ed Harris. Poor Amy Madigan. Poor WWE Superstar Randy Orton. They're all pawns in the surf-music-laden nostalgia of the '60s in the new trailer for That's What I Am. The coming-of-age movie concerns an eighth-grade boy's formative experiences with change, a wonderful teacher, and an outcast named Stanley whose sad soundbites -- for some reason -- are making me cry with laughter. Let's count up the cliches!

The 1960s were a simpler time: geeks were geeks, teachers were role models and professional wrestlers didn't co-star in family oriented indie flicks. But this is the 21st Century -- and nothing proves this point more than the brand new trailer for "That's What I Am."
Here's the dilly: produced by WWE -- you know, the wrestling people -- "That's What I Am" is a heartfelt coming-of-age parable starring Ed Harris as an earnest English teacher who takes a regular kid (Chase Ellison) and a jug-eared pariah (Alexander Waters) under his wing during the mid-60s and teaches them the importance of not being douchebags. And, oh yeah, WWE star Randy Orton is also in it.
Oh, how times have changed.
Of course, this isn't the first film WWE has put together, but most of their earlier efforts had a bit more testosterone (see: "The Scorpion King," "The Marine") and a bit less,...

Here is the first trailer for That's What I Am. The film is set in the 1960s and stars Ed Harris as a teacher who takes a bullied student under his wing, but when rumors about the teacher start to fly he must take his own advice and take an active stand against prejudice and bigotry. The supporting cast includes, Amy Madigan, Molly Parker, and WWE Superstar Randy Orton. Orton stars as the father of the school bully who presumably is the one who starts all the vicious rumors.

[1] A new trailer has been released for WWE Studios' That's What I Am, starring Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, Molly Parker -- and professional wrestler Randy Orton. Yup, it's that WWE. The gargantuan sports entertainment corporation has been producing features through its filmmaking arm since 2002, including The Scorpion King (as co-producers), The Marine, and last year's Legendary. That's What I Am looks like a bit of a departure from the company's earlier projects, in that it doesn't seem to feature much in the way of action or wrestling. Watch the trailer after the jump. That's What I Am stars Chase Ellison as Andy, a typical eighth grader who learns lessons about courage and tolerance when he's assigned to work with an unpopular geek (Alexander Walters). Harris plays Andy's wise, compassionate English teacher, who faces troubles of his own when he becomes the target of a potentially destructive rumor. Madigan and Parker...

Despite being killed off as a series when Chairman Vince McMahon announced that WWE would drop the Survivor Series name and rebrand the event in last February, November saw the explosive return of the PPV spectacular, and that show is now available to buy on DVD and Blu-ray.
With a card boasting the collected talents of Kane, Randy Orton, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Big Show and Alberto Del Rio, the star quality is certainly there, but the question is: how does an event cope with being so cruelly undermined by the man pulling the power strings?
This year’s event was undoubtedly headlined, both in billing and in intrigue by the face-off between Randy Orton and former Nexus leader, and one of few resident Brits on the WWE rosta, Wade Barrett, with the added interest of the outcome supposedly deciding John Cena’s fate as a WWE employee.

The Plot: An elite hit man teaches his trade to an apprentice who has a connection to one of his previous victims.
The Buzz: Jason Statham is kind of cookie cutter, and this looks to be just another of his many action extravaganzas, but he does turn in some good work from time to time. Death Race, for instance, was good, and I enjoyed the first Transporter too. Ben Foster has been on the rise now for quite some time — I imagine a few years from now he’ll be knocking on the door of the household name. I enjoyed him a lot in Pandorum,...
