Multi-Emmy and Academy Award nominee Amy Adams will star in and executive produces the Apple TV+ series Cape Fear, from Nick Antosca, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. Adams will star opposite Javier Bardem who also exec produces.
Cape Fear is based on John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners — which inspired the 1962 feature of the same name directed by J. Lee Thompson from storyboards devised by original director Alfred Hitchcock — and the 1991 remake directed by Scorsese.
The 10-episode series greenlit in November, is described as a tense, Hitchcockian thriller and an examination of America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century. In Cape Fear, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Amanda (Adams) and Steve Bowden when Max Cady (played by Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison.

Apple has lined up a second A-list name for its Cape Fear series.
Amy Adams will star opposite Javier Bardem in the thriller, which counts Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese — who teamed for a 1991 remake of the original 1962 film — among its executive producers. Adams will also be an EP.
As with the two films (and the John D. MacDonald novel The Executioners that served as their source material), the Cape Fear series will follow the events when a killer, Max Cady (Bardem), is released from prison and begins to harass the couple he deems responsible for his sentence, married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden. Adams will play Anna.
The 10-episode series will also add a present-day element that examines America’s obsession with true crime.

Disney's Enchanted, a beloved classic with 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, is an excellent movie to watch this holiday season. Enchanted has stellar songs, a star-studded cast, and a compelling narrative. The movie even has a sequel, Disenchanted, although it is not nearly as successful as its predecessor. Like the title, the characters are enchanting, from Prince Edward's (James Marsden) dimwitted and kind character, to Queen Narissa's (Susan Sarandon) cunning plans, to Giselle's (Amy Adams) optimistic and romantic personality. Although Enchanted's Giselle is not an official Disney Princess, she is still widely beloved and one of the best unofficial Disney Princesses.
Enchanted is also one of Disney's rare hybrid films — a movie that contains animation and live-action, although Enchanted is predominantly the latter. Regardless, the combination is a key aspect of the film's storytelling. The cast comprises many favorites, also including Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and Timothy Spall. Enchanted...

Amy Adams' new movie, Nightbitch, is very close to continuing a negative Rotten Tomatoes streak for the Oscar-nominated actor. Amy Adams is one of the most popular actors in the world, having starred in movies like American Hustle, Arrival, and Nocturnal Animals. However, Adams has been on a streak of poorly reviewed movies recently. In her newest movie, Nightbitch, Adams plays a stay-at-home mother who starts experiencing strange transformations, leading her to believe she is turning into a dog.
In addition to Adams, the cast of Nightbitch includes Scoot McNairy, Zoe Chao, Marry Holland, and Kerry O'Malley. Clearly, Nightbitch has one of the most unique premises out of any Amy Adams movie. However, while reviews for Nightbitch were initially quite strong, its Rotten Tomatoes score has been dropping. If it continues to fall, Nightbitch will continue Amy Adams' streak of starring in movies that struggle to resonate with audiences.

The kindhearted and beautiful Enchanted heroine Giselle would make the perfect Disney Princess, but she's mysteriously absent from the company's official line-up. Audiences first met Giselle (Amy Adams) in 2007 when Enchanted hit theaters. A blend of classic Disney 2D animation and live-action, Enchanted sees the animated Giselle exiled from her kingdom of Andalasia and transported to the loud, cynical live-action world of New York City. A total fish out of water, Giselle eventually finds her happily ever after while learning that the world is a lot more complex than she thought.
Enchanted was a smash hit with audiences and critics alike, earning over $340 million at the worldwide box office (via Box Office Mojo) and a Certified Fresh score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The pundits praised Enchanted's smart sendup of fairy tale tropes, and were particularly impressed with Adams' performance as Giselle, particularly because it was her first time leading a film.

Andy Samberg has fondly recalled how Amy Adams refused to do a Saturday Night Live song with The Lonely Island because of its raunchy subject matter, and the movie it was supposed to be parodying. Saturday Night Live's best skits have often parodied pop culture media and real-world events, such as the recurring Celebrity Jeopardy! skit or the show's mature take on the character Gumby. Some of its more memorable sketches were done by the comedy trio The Lonely Island, consisting of Sandberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone.
Speaking on The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast episode 32 (via Variety), Samberg recalled how, at one point, they were going to make a sketch alongside Adams spoofing her 2007 fantasy film Enchanted. The sketch would see her reprise her role as Giselle and Samberg portray Robert, having the pair become an old couple at a picnic. One gets stung by a scorpion,...

Idina Menzel's most underrated role is in the 2007 film Enchanted. Surprisingly, this is one of the very few screen roles where Menzel doesn't sing. Menzel is most famous for her musical roles as Maureen in Rent and Elsa in Frozen, as well as her groundbreaking Broadway career. Meanwhile, in Enchanted, Menzel plays Robert's (Patrick Dempsey) girlfriend, Nancy Tremaine. However, when Giselle (Amy Adams) ends up with Robert, Nancy leaves with Prince Edward (James Marsden) and lives happily ever after in Andalasia.
Although she doesn't sing in Enchanted, Menzel returned for the film's sequel, joining Disenchanted's cast. As well as getting the chance to sing in this installment, Menzel is reunited with most of the original cast from the first installment and expands upon her role as Nancy, now the queen of Andalasia. Nancy's role in the sequel is a lot bigger, with more effect on the plot's outcome in Disenchanted's ending,...

The first reviews of Amy Adams' latest film Nightbitch are surprisingly positive. Known for her exceptional work in celebrated films such as The Fighter (2010), The Master (2012), Her (2013), American Hustle (2013), and Arrival (2016), Adams is undoubtedly one of the greatest working actresses today. Although she hasn't appeared in a movie since 2022's Disenchanted, Adams is set to make a big return in 2024 with the upcoming release of Nightbitch, which made its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival on September 7, 2024. Adams has been nominated for 6 Oscars and 2 Emmy Awards.

Amy Adams has only been away from movie screens for a couple years. Her last credit is 2022’s “Disenchanted.” But Saturday night at the Toronto Film Festival felt like the return of an actor who’s been sorely missed, judging from the massive ovation Adams received after the world premiere of Marielle Heller’s new “Nightbitch.”
Adams’ complex, bravura performance fits right in with her other roles of self-actualization in “Junebug,” “Enchanted” and “Sharp Objects.” Here, in a film that combines domestic struggles, comedy, direct-to-camera address, social satire and magic, Adams plays a mother who finds herself transforming into a big, strong, beautiful dog.
Onstage after the premiere, Adams explained that she was drawn to the human qualities of the material. “One of the wonderful explorations of the film is about the isolation that comes from [motherhood]. The transformation from motherhood to parenthood is a shared experience that isn’t often shared.

By the end of 2024, Amy Adams is going to star in a new horror comedy movie that will hopefully bring her what she is long overdue for an Oscar. Since the late 1990s, Amy Adams has been impressing audiences with her versatile acting range and heartfelt performances. The actress made her film debut in 1999's Drop Dead Gorgeous, then had her breakout playing a young pregnant woman in 2005's Junebug. From there, Amy Adams' movie roles have been diverse, from drama and comedy to horror and musicals. Despite this, Adams has yet to reach that important Hollywood milestone.
In the last ten years, Amy Adams has maintained a fairly busy career. She finished out her stint as Lois Lane in the DC Universe, revived a beloved childhood franchise via Disenchanted, and starred in several other outstanding movies. Now, Adams is set to continue this streak with her newest film, 2024's Nightbitch.

Amy Adams believes she is slowly turning into a canine in Nightbitch, and here’s the trailer for the incoming movie.
Amy Adams has been nominated for an Academy Award six times – for Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter, The Master, Vice and American Hustle. It’s something of an oversight that none of them were for her pitch perfect performance as Disney princess Giselle in 2007’s Enchanted, a role she reprises in 2022 sequel Disenchanted.
Her next role in the dark comedy horror Nightbitch has exactly the kind of one line elevator pitch premise that could attract attention come awards season – a stressed mother begins to turn into a dog.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Nightbitch tells the story of a woman (Adams) thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the...

The first trailer for Nightbitch has just hit (via FearHQ.com) and this movie about Amy Adams' stay-at-home mom undergoing a canine transformation looks every bit as bonkers as we'd hoped when it was first announced.
In the movie, the Man of Steel star's housewife is convinced she's turning into a dog and, if what we see here is any indication, she very well might be. As body horror goes, all signs point to Nightbitch being an exciting new addition to that corner of the genre and this role has already generated awards buzz for Adams.
The comedy horror was originally set for a straight-to-streaming release on Hulu, though Searchlight later gave the film a wide theatrical release. It will also mark the first time we've seen Adams on screen since Disenchanted hit Disney+ three years ago.

Also starring Scoot McNairy, Zoë Chao and Mary Holland, the film centers on an artist (Adams) who put her career on hold to become a mother and suddenly realizes that she might be transforming into a canine.
“I’m never going to be smart, happy or thin ever again,” Adams says in the trailer. “Oh, and I’m pretty sure I’m turning into a dog.”

After taking a bit of a break, not appearing in a film since 2022’s Disenchanted, Amy Adams is back in full force this fall, leading Marielle Heller’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood follow-up Nightbitch. Based on Rachel Yoder’s novel, about a mother who literally transforms into a dog, Searchlight Pictures has now dropped the first trailer ahead of a TIFF premiere and December 6 release.
TIFF notes in their synopsis, “Scoot McNairy plays Mother’s Husband, a relatable, sensitive man struggling with his own challenges around parenthood. But make no mistake, this is Adams’ film. It is her fearless, unselfconscious, and fiercely intelligent performance that makes Nightbitch such a memorable experience. Heller weaves drama, comedy, and significant elements of magic realism into an audacious and important film, examining those aspects of motherhood — both dark and darkly humorous — of which we rarely speak.”

Wolf Man: First Promo Poster For Leigh Whannell's Reboot Reveals Official Logo & A Chilling Location
"Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and Autumn moon is bright."
Universal and Blumhouse's long-awaited Wolfman movie (now known as Wolf Man) went through a hairy (sorry) phase of production late last year, but cameras officially started rolling back in March, and we now have our first official look at an early promo poster for the film (via FearHQ.com).
The banner was spotted on display at Universal Orlando as part of the park's Halloween Horror Nights takeover. The image gives us a first look at the movie's logo and what will presumably be the primary location of the story, but no sign of the titular lycanthrope, who will likely be kept under wraps until well into the marketing phase.

While the park gets ready for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights takeover, Inside Universal has shared the Wolf Man promo art that is currently on display outside the Fanta Bar at Lombard’s Seafood Grille. The banner looks to be on display to allow for fans to take photos, and it gives us our first look at the main location for the film: a creepy house in the woods.
Expect more soon…

Adams' recent movies have all received poor Rotten Tomatoes ratings, marking a significant slump in her career since 2020. Despite some box office success, movies like "Hillbilly Elegy," "The Woman in the Window," and "Disenchanted" have not been well-received. Adams hopes to turn things around in 2024 with the upcoming film "Nightbitch," following her longest Rotten Tomatoes streak since 2002.
Six-time Oscar-nominee Amy Adams recently experienced one of the worst Rotten Tomatoes streaks of her illustrious career. Known for her exceptional work in celebrated films such as The Fighter (2010), The Master (2012), Her (2013), American Hustle (2013), Arrival (2016), and Vice (2018), Adams is undoubtedly one of the greatest working actresses today. Exclusive: Laughing Dragon Studios recently grabbed a skateboard for a Tony Hawk toon, and now the Canadian production house has switched focus to the festive season.
The company has unveiled Christmas series Coal, which is due to drop in December 2025. Shaftesbury is signed up for international distribution, with Muse Distribution handling Quebec. The Shaw Rocket Fund and Telefilm have provided funding.
The three-part special will follow Ethan Bishop, an eight-year-old boy navigating a difficult time in his life that lands him on Santa’s naughty list. In response, Santa implements ‘Plan C,’ sending a legendary Lump of Coal to guide Ethan on a “ho-ho-hilarious journey.” Through a series of positive and negative experiences with the coal, Ethan discovers a life-altering artistic talent.
Cast includes Lucinda Davis as Ethan alongside Zariah Ellis (Blue’s Clues & You), Briauna James, Ralph Prosper, Mara Lazaris, Eric Davis and Bruce Dinsmore as Santa Claus.
Laughing Dragon is billing it as a “playful 2D animated series, complete with specialized magical charcoal-style sequences” for kids aged 6-10, and is planning it as an “festive tradition that can be cherished year after year.”
Guillaume Chassé (Curious George, F Is for Family) is directing and René Veilleux from Vérité Entertainment oversaw the voice direction and casting. Astride Noel and Christopher Bernard are the writers. Laughing Dragon CEO Ryan Sohmer (Kabu, Disenchanted) is the executive producer.
“With an initial concept from our very own Ryan Costello and seeing what our Director of Original Productions Jeff Moss has molded Coal into over the last few years, I am thrilled to begin this next stage of production, and counting down until we can bring Ethan and his family to worldwide audiences,” said Sohmer.
Writer Noel added: “It was a blast working on Coal, and I immediately fell in love with the dilemma of this holiday film that takes traditional Santa lore and spins it on its head. ‘Finding who is naughty and nice’ is not always as easy as the song makes it seem. The story serves as a wonderful reminder that even in difficult times, there is joy, beauty, and… nice to be found.”
Earlier this year, we reported that Laughing Dragon was working with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk on animated series Skatebirds, as part of the Montreal-based company’s push into original production. Initially beginning as a full-service 2D animation studio, Laughing Dragon has worked on projects such as Apple TV+’s Central Park and Disney’s Disenchanted, and is developing an internal slate also including madcap mythologic title Isaac & Friends and an animated adaptation of Least I Could Do, a webcomic created by Sohmer and Lar deSouza.

It’s been 31 years since Screen Ireland (formerly the Irish Film Board) was re-established by the now President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins. Last year, the country’s government increased its section 481 tax incentive cap on eligible expenditure from €70 million to €125 million in a move to attract larger scale productions.

Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams was everywhere over the last decade, but the actress seemingly took a beat after a busy 2021. Since 2022’s “Disenchanted,” the actress hasn’t appeared in anything, not one film or TV project. That changes in 2024 with at least one movie scheduled for December (“Night Bitch”) and another filming now (Taika Waititi’s “Klara and the Sun”).

Enchanted's director commentary track offers exclusive insights into the making of the beloved Disney film. Kevin Lima transformed Enchanted from a cynical take on Disney Princess movies to a heartfelt love letter. Amy Adams was not Disney's first choice for Giselle, but her performance became a highlight of the film.
The Enchanted commentary track is a delightful addition to the watching experience or even as a standalone presentation to to the beloved Disney movie. Enchanted was such a fresh take on the fairy tale genre, that in some ways it feels like Disney movies can be categorized as "before Enchanted" and "after Enchanted". Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jack Reacher’s Alan Ritchson are to co-star in a Christmas movie for Amazon/MGM called The Man With The Bag.
Of all the films Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in across his long career, 1996’s Jingle All The Way was undoubtedly one of them. And, almost 30 years on from that festive comedy, it’s announced that the Austrian Oak is making another Christmas film, this time for Amazon MGM Studios.
It’s called The Man With The Bag, and according to The Hollywood Reporter’s plot summary, sees Santa Claus on the hunt from his stolen, enchanted bag. This leads Santa to “team up with Vance, a reformed thief and denizen of the naughty list” to find it, with Vance’s daughter and a “team of misfit elves” also taken along for the adventure.

A beloved romantic comedy from 2008 proves that Hollywood has let down James Marsden in a major way – but it’s not too late to rectify those mistakes and give Marsden his due. Marsden has always been a talented, charismatic actor that audiences have enjoyed watching. He played the iconic superhero Cyclops in the X-Men movies and breathed life into the historical icon that is John F. Kennedy in The Butler. He’s adept at both goofy comedic roles and nuanced dramatic roles, finding the truth in both of them.

"Hocus Pocus 2," "Disenchanted," and "Werewolf By Night" could benefit from theatrical re-releases to capitalize on their cult followings and tie-ins to beloved franchises like Halloween and the MCU.

Disney CEO Bob Iger admits to making too many sequels but stands by the success of some of them. Disney's upcoming movie releases are still dominated by sequels, remakes, and reboots, indicating a continued reliance on existing IPs. Disney's box office flops in 2023 suggest that the over-saturation of sequels may continue to negatively impact performance.
Disney CEO Bob Iger is aware of the studio's sequel problem, but this acknowledgment only makes his plans for the future more bewildering. As one of the most famous and prolific production companies on the planet, Disney has no shortage of cinematic success stories. However, as of late, the studio has been following a particularly tedious trend. Despite seeing immense success with both animated and live-action original movies in the past, Disney has been releasing a disproportionate number of additions to existing franchises, instead of offering new ideas.
The head of the company agrees. Bob...
