Trivia
The plot for this episode bears a striking resemblance to the plot of the "King of the Hill" episode entitled "A Rover Runs Through It". In that episode, the Hills go to Peggy's parents' ranch in Montana where Peggy's relationship with her mother is strained as in this episode. Peggy also solves a land dispute that focuses on cattle, and helps her mother deliver a newborn colt. It is not known if this is merely coincidence, or if the plot was purposely "borrowed".

Goofs
At the end, Kim is wearing a T-shirt for the "SOUL Summer Festival" occurring Aug. 9 - 12 in 1967. The year is incorrectly abbreviated on the shirt, as the apostrophe follows the two-digit year instead of being before it (i.e., '67 = 1967).
